This large stone cottage has been beautifully and tastefully restored and divided into 5 unique, modern, contemporary apartments. Three apartments have 1 bed sleeping 2-3 or 2-4 people whilst two apartments have 2 bedrooms sleeping up to 4 or 5. Located near the town of Foligno in the wonderful Umbrian countryside, the location is perfect for visiting every corner of Umbria including Orvieto, Perugia, Assisi and Gubbio. Some of the major towns and cities in Tuscany and even Le Marche are also accessible from the property such as Siena and Arezzo. Guests enjoy full use of the communal swimming pool and gardens which offer a perfect haven of rest and relaxation after a days sightseeing. Wood fired oven. BBQ. Sun terrace.

There are two 2 bedroom apartments. The first is located on the first floor of the cottage. It comprises one double bedroom and one bedroom with bunk beds. The 2nd apartment is on the ground floor and has 2 bedrooms (one double and one single). Both sleep 4/5 people. Both apartments have an open plan living, dining and kitchen area with satellite LED TV and comfortable sofas. Both are equipped with air-conditioning and stereo sound in all rooms. There is a modern kitchen in each with state of the art appliances including microwave, dishwasher, 4 ring gas hob, oven, fridge and freezer. The bathrooms feel luxurious and have the feel of a boutique hotel with slippers and toiletries provided for all guests. The apartments have a modern, contemporary feel but the owners have taken care to retain many original features during the restoration and renovation process, such as incredibly beautiful wooden ceilings and stone walls. This gives the apartments real character and charm.

About the Owner

I am a mother with 2 children, age 9 & 12 and a very busy husband! I gave up work with Procter and Gamble 9 years ago to spend time at home with the children. I have loved being able to spend so much time with them. However, with both children now at school, I was keen to start working again. I initially enjoyed managing two of our own holiday properties in the Italian Lakes which we bought in 2008 and 2009 following our first visit to the area in 2007. Immaculate apartment in converted Umbrian farmhouse

One of the nicest apartments, I've stayed in, every detail is take care of: clean, comfortable and beautifully furnished and laid out. The location is lovely: surrounded by fields, with the sounds of birds and cicadas outside and a great pool.

Oscar made sure we had everything we needed and gave us recommendations for places to eat and visit. Great for adults or families with kids.

This is a wonderful, relaxing place to use as a base to explore every corner of the beautiful Umbrian countryside. It provides the ideal starting point for excursions to the art cities of Umbria - Assissi, Perugia, Todi, Spoleto, Orvieto etc. Nestled near the town of Foligno, some of the towns and villages in Tuscany and Le Marche are also accessible from the property giving you the opportunity to see a varied cross section of rural Italy.

Coast/Beach:

The coast is about 2 hours drive away. A 2 hour drive North East will take you to the city of Ancona whilst slightly south of this but also easy to get to is the renowned vacation resort of Civitanova Marche.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Perugia which is about 30 mins away. Ryanair fly here from London Stansted. If you don't mind travelling with Ryanair, the airline also flies to Ancona which is 1 hour away. Alternatively, guests can fly to Rome or Florence which are 2 hours away. Pisa is also possible but is a 3 hour car journey. There is a railway station 2-3 kms away in Foligno which is on a direct line to Rome, Perugia & Ancona. Transfers from the train station to the property can be arranged.

Distances:

The nearest supermarket is approximately 1km away, whilst the nearest restaurant / cafe is about 1.5km. The old Medieval town of Foligno is the nearest main town which has a wealth of good quality restaurants and bars. Particularly recommended is the Ristorante 'Officina del Gusto' and 'Ristorante al Chiaro di Luna.'

Just 2-3 kms away, Foligno is a vibrant town with plenty to see and do. Every year since 1946 the city of Foligno has held the Joust of the Quintana, reliving the atmosphere of a horse tournament first held during the carnival of 1613. There are 3 annual joust events - the Baroque Carnival, the June Challenge and the September Rematch. On each occasion, 10 horsemen, each representing one of the cities wards, face off in a ring joust. Participants are dressed in costumes from the 1600s, creating a colourful and evocative atmosphere. It's a wonderful event. In September and October there is also a fantastic gastronomic event created around the queen of Italian cuisine - pasta! The piazzas, bars and palaces are filled with stands and tasting stations, dinners and shows. One of the newer annual events is 'Young Jazz' held between 25 and 29 May this year, an opportunity for visitors to the city to hear some wonderful music from both young and old bands and musicians. For those of you with children, don't miss the Sant 'Eraclio Carnival, held every February and March, where the whole family will be entertained by the colourful parades of floats, acrobats and street artists. The property is ideally located for exploring further afield too. Perugia, the regions largest art city, is just 30 minutes drive away, whilst the beautiful city of Orvieto which has held a unique fascination among tourists for years, is just 15 minutes away. The magical city of Assisi is also half an hour by car whilst Gubbio, where you feel like you literally have stepped back in time, is an hour from the apartments. Even those less well known towns and villages in Umbria hold some wonderful surprises whether it's a church, a palace, musuem or fresco... It's a great area to explore. Some of the best cities in Tuscany are also accessible from the property - Arezzo is 90 minutes whilst Siena is approximately 2 hours by car. You certainly won't be stuck for things to do during your stay!

These apartments have been beautifully furnished and finished to a very high standard by the owners. They provide a beautiful, relaxing place to stay and perfect base to explore Umbria and even parts of Tuscany. During the restoration process, the owner has taken care to retain many original features of the stone cottage thus giving the properties a real sense of character and uniqueness, whilst at the same time being modern and contemporary. The attention to detail ensures that the apartments have the feel of a 'boutique hotel'. The owners are incredibly helpful and on your arrival, are keen to provide advice to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: Both apartments have use of a communal laundry room with washing machine and dryer. Both apartments have free WIFI internet access, satellite TV and LED TVs in both the living area and bedroom. The owners have given the apartments the feel of a boutique hotel providing slippers and toiletries to all the guests. All the bathrooms also have a hairdryer and shaving mirror. Each bedroom has a safe to keep all your valuables in. Outside: The property is surrounded by flat, open fields and countryside. Guests enjoy full use of a communal pool and beautiful gardens. Fresh herbs are grown in the borders which guests are welcome to pick and use. Solar panels heat the apartments and any 'left over' energy is used to heat the pool. There is also a wood burning oven at the property which guests are welcome to use and a large BBQ. There is also plenty of private parking at the property.
