Amazing views
Fantastic communication with the owner from start to finish. Great welcome by the managers, very helpful and informative. Super comfy beds and nice showers (including a nice outdoor shower). Clean, well maintained and well equipped. Stunning views all round. If you want to relax and chill out this is a perfect choice.

Bellisimo Italian stay!
With magnificent views this mountain home really is an amazing place to stay. We loved the shady veranda to sit and eat under during hottest time of day and just gaze at the view. John and Mary were so helpful meeting us on arrival explaining and recommending everything including same fab local restaurants...Big Mamas being a favourite. Plus there is lots of information about the area in the house...very helpful we recommend going to Pinata beach about an hour away, but watch out on the price of using the beach umbrellas/loungers. There are beach mats to borrow in the house but no parasol which is a shame as then wouldn't cost anything. The pool was immaculately clean but quite cold although it did warm up over the next few days once we took the cover off and it got some sun...so be warned don't jump straight in, on arrival! We did meet our neighbour Lucia who although speaks not a word of English she invited us into her home for the best coffee we had ever drunk, it was a fun hour trying to maintain some sort of conversation! Being in the countryside can be quite noisy at times what with dogs barking, chickens clucking, roosters crowing and geese honking from Lucia's but we got used to it....just don't expect a long lie in..but who wants that anyway when the suns shining and that view beckons! We would love to come back again in the future as we have never been so chilled out. Ciao .

A Beautiful Villa in a Spectacular Setting
We had a wonderful stay at Villa Santa Maria. The views and setting were just breathtaking and the villa was very comfortable. The owners have paid great attention to detail and everything was of a very high quality. The area was great to explore with both mountains and the coast being very accessible and the people were all very friendly and welcoming despite our very limited knowledge of the language. We would love to return one day!

Fantastic !
A First Class villa equipped to an extremely high standard. Immaculately presented and set in a fantastic rural location with views that leave the beholder breath taken. We spent a week here with our 7 and 5 year old children and had more than enough space. Lots of small towns, shops and areas of interest located a small drive from the villa. Large supermarket around a 15 min drive. If your looking for an uninterrupted relaxed break in real Italy this villa is ideal. Well managed by an English couple who are a wealth of local knowledge that they are more than willing to share in order for you to make the most of your Italian escape. Great communication with the owners all throughout the booking process and all questions responded quickly and efficiently. Thanks again for letting us your villa and for a fantastic Italian adventure.

Magical, Simply Paradise!
To say that Villa Santa Maria is magical is an understatement. The terrace at the Villa has breath-taking panoramic views of the country side, National Park, and the Adriatic Sea in the distance. We were reluctant to write this review, as we wanted to keep Villa Santa Maria as a secret for ourselves. However, that would be an injustice. On our arrival we were greeted by John and Mary who could not do enough to make our family stay a memorable one. With 3 adults and 3 small children every possible effort was made to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. Especially the personal touches to accommodate our family. The Villa’s Location is rustic and charming, which made for a very relaxing Oasis and allowed us to spend precious time with our children, while soaking the Italian culture. The Villa itself is exceptional from decor, to the outside areas to eat, relax by the pool and the facilities provided. The photos do not do it justice. The villa was spacious and had all the amenities to cope with 3 adults and 3 small children, which would never had been provides by a hotel or apartment. At the Villa a folder was provided with a wealth of information. One of the places recommended was Castelli and it did disappoint. We drove along the winding roads to the mountain top village and had lunch at the restaurant in the hilltops, the views again where breath taking, the restaurant was authentic and although we had very little Italian in our vocabulary, we were made to feel so welcome, our children doted on and they delighted us with the most amazing homemade pasta that myself and Partner have ever eaten. Of course you may want to visit the sites that the area has to offer. However, the Villa has ‘soo’ much to offer, you may not want to venture too far from this Italian Oasis. Villa Santa Maira will not disappoint. It’s Magical.

Our family comprises myself, my wife Sylvie and our twin daughters. In addition we have a Bernese Mountain Dog called Orphelia and a Cockapoo called Gertrude. Our family home is in The Cotswolds in North Oxfordshire.

Why they chose this property

My wife, Sylvie, and I acquired Villa Santa Maria nearly 9 years ago as a family holiday home which could be used by ourselves and our daughters. Although needing a lot of work what attracted us to the villa is its stunning views across Penne Lake to Penne and beyond to the Adriatic. Being a short drive to beaches but also being able to ski at Roccaraso in winter made it a must for us.
