Flat / Apartment in Cefalu, Sicily, Italy - Stunning View.5 Minutes Walk to Beach

This recently restored flat is on the second floor of an ancient palazzo. Its unique location, right over the sea, looking out to the coastline on one side and to the roof tops and Cathedral from the bedroom windows, gives it its peculiar charm. You can sit in the living room or on the small terrace and let yourself be lulled by the sound of the sea and contemplate its changing colours from morning till sunset. The flat is in the old town centre, in picturesque surroundings, with shops, restaurants, wineries , monuments, all within walking distance. The street is closed to traffic most of the day. The area is lively in the summer season, quieter in low season, charming at any time. A beautiful sandy beach lays only 5 minutes away, and there is also a small cove just under the flat. Cefalù is a delightful historic town perfectly situated for visiting many tourist resorts.

I am a retired university teacher who has inherited this flat on the seafront in the town I was born. I let it mainly to cover the high costs of maintenance of a flat on the sea, and also to meet new people and keep me busy. I try to make my best to make people comfortable. I live in Palermo but spend the summer in Cefalù.

We spent a week at the Martino flat in June, 2011. We found the flat as advertised: basic, clean, bright and airy with lovely high wooden ceilings and tile throughout. It is private and well insulated from bustle and noise of the old town, being accessed by three locked doors and as many flights of stairs. The two balconies are what make the flat special. From one you see the crescent of the main beach and boardwalk stretch into the distance. From the other you see a charming little harbour with its small beach and pleasure boats. The sea laps at the rocks directly below and the sky is alive with swallows all day long. On a final note, our communications with the owner regarding the booking were timely, clear and understandable and our transactions went smoothly from beginning to end. Maria Carla was a pleasure to deal with I'm happy to recommend her flat to you.

Ideal seaside apartment

After a few days in Palermo which we love, but find nevertheless intensely urban, we wanted a relaxing week by the sea. This we certainly found here. The views of the sea are breathtaking. The curve of the bay and the hillside remind one of Greece as do the remains of the old harbour below. The swimming, just below the flat, was some of the best we have had in Sicily. The old town of Cefalu is fascinating, especially the Norman cathedral and the Mandralisca museum. The location and layout of the apartment are first class, as is the service. Strongly recommended!

Clean and characterful property, fabulous location

An amazing location, your whole word can shrink to a 500m radius of the apartment and you'll have everything you need. Fantastic restaurants in the town, La Galleria and le Chat Noir were my favourites. Il Covo de Pirato the restaurant right next door is also excellent and they always make an effort to get you seated, its hard to spend more than 50 Euros for two people with wine (by the caraf is fine), more common is around 35 Euros.

The ice cream shop right next door is the best I've had (Yogurt flavour) and the little Deli further down has everything you could want. There is a larger Deco supermarket at 10 mins walk for a larger shop if required.

We used Mario's sun loungers most days for about 20 Euros for a pair, the sea in the bay is beautiful and clear.

Maria was most welcoming, a nice bottle of wine and homemade marmalade to greet us with and even came to our rescue when we locked ourselves out! The apartment itself is basic but has everything you need for a holiday stay as long as you don't want to do a three course meal as there is no oven; No washing machine either and the kitchen and bathroom although clean and functional are a bit dated. I loved my stay there and would definitely return.

Amazing sea view from historical quaint flat

Our stay in this flat was lovely. When you first walk in to it with Maria you can't help be swept away by the spectacular sea views. Maria explains the history of it in relation to her family and Cefalu, leaving you instantly in love and at home here.

The flat was clean and tidy, with quirky cupboards and decor that you would expect from a building from this period.

Being located on the sea front and in the middle of the "old town" makes it an ideal location.

Maria was helpful and friendly upon arrival and kept in touch before and during our stay.

There is a vast choice of restaurants and wine bars near by, with entertainment in Cefalu and local attractions close, such as climbing La Rocca.

A wonderful stay awaits anyone who books this flat. We will be back for sure!!

The best location in Cefalu

This apartment is all about location and fantastic views. Situated in the old town, the apartment is within walking distance of everything worth seeing and doing in Cefalu. The apartment is at the seafront and we really enjoyed watching the beautiful sunset from the balcony in the evenings.

Great location and a charming apartment.

This is a wonderfully located apartment with glorious sea views, but also in the centre of Cefalu,, but not affected by noise. The owner Maria couldn't be more helpful and adds to the whole experience, but is also not intrusive. The apartment has lots of family history and it's worth reading the information left by Maria. This means that it's not full of modern furniture and gizmos, but it's clean, well equipped and is benefitting from being slowly, but sympathetically modernised. Locally there are great shops and restaurants. Highly recommended and we would return.

In 2006 I inherited the flat which has been in my family for centuries, I love Cefalù which is my native town and even if I do not live there anymore, I go there regularly on week ends and in the Summer

Sandy beach, partly free, partly equipped with huts, chairs, parasols on payment, only five minutes away on foot. A small cove just under the flat.


Palermo airport 1h.45 mins away by car or by train + coach/train from railway station. Ryanair and EasyJet run direct flights from London.


Palermo and its monuments only one hour away. Cefalù is located within the boundaries of the Parco delle Madonie, a 40.00 hectare nature reserve. Many Madonie villages can be reached by bus or car within one hour. Travel agencies organize day trips to Moun Etna, Taormina, Agrigento. In the summer boat trips to the Aeolian island are available from Cefalù.

Further Details:

Cefalù is full of shops selling pottery, wines, local produce. It has also big supermarkets. Restaurants and cafès are anywhere. Its surroundings are lovely and you can hire a bike and roam the countryside, or take windsurf lessons from one of the venues along the beach. You can take a boat trip (run daily in the summer) and discover the beauty of the coast. But you can just walk around its cobbled streets and discover its courtyards and picturesque corners, visit the local museum or its Norman cathedral. You can also climb up the rocky mountain overhanging the town and visit the prehistoric temple there.
