About Mr and Mrs Lyne

Mick, Carol will be at home to welcome you when you arrive. We have lived at the Cottage for 16 years and have been running "The Stable" as a holiday-let for about 10 years. We are always available for help and advice and can often give "scenic" routes to places of interest. Our aim is for you to have an enjoyable holiday and to go home loving Dorset as much as we do.

Mr and Mrs Lyne purchased this cottage in 1998

Why Mr and Mrs Lyne chose Purbeck

We purchased this property in 1998 after many years of searching. It offered us everything we were looking for, notably the location, the tranquility, the ease of access to all amenities whilst retaining the remoteness from the "hustle and bustle". We are situated on the edge of Winfrith Heath and surrounded by SSSI sites with an abundance of wildlife and flora, whilst still within close proximity of Dorset's famous World Heritage Jurassic coastline.

We were very impressed by the friendliness and the way the stable was looked after.

  • 5 of 5

Carol and Mick were very helpful and advised us on where to visit and eat, they made us feel very at home and comfy, nothing was to much trouble for them.

The stable was immaculate, very clean and everything we could need was there, including a very nice cake as a welcome.

We would definitely use them again in the future and would recommend them to anyone.

A great holiday cottage with everything you could imagine you would need while on holiday.

  • 5 of 5

Carol and Mick greeted us and showed us around the stables. Carol had made cake and cookies for us as a treat after our journey which was a lovely touch. The cottage was perfect for our stay. It is next to the Heath and very peaceful. We were close to all the places we wanted to visit. The cottage had everything you could ask for, and I felt it offered way more than a standard holiday rental. There was no wifi and limited service but it was available at the main house. Carol and Mick know the area extremely well and can lead you off the beaten track if you so desire. We enjoyed our stay and all it had to offer.

Just lovely!!

  • 5 of 5

Have just returned from a week at The Stables with my two teenage children and we loved every minute.

Firstly, the location is perfect for exploring Dorset. Monkey World and the Tank Museum as well as Lulworth Cove are only 10 or 15 minutes drive. Secondly, the cottage is immaculate and very homely. I cooked most nights and had everything I needed. Finally, Mick and Carol could not be nicer or more helpful. We were greeted with delicious homemade cake and the local knowledge was really helpful.

I would thoroughly recommend Dorset too. Durdle Door is breathtaking and we spent hours at Charmouth and Lyme Regis hunting for fossils. Monkey World and Abbotsbury Swannery and Gardens are well worth the money too. My tips to new visitors to the area would be to take a big bag of pound coins for parking. It is quite pricey- £4 for 2 hours is standard- and no change is available anywhere. Also cash points are in short supply so stock up when you get the chance. Most places take cards but by no means all. A good map is useful as this is the land that GPS forgot. Sturdy shoes for walking up and down steep slopes are essential. And don't get too near cliffs. A huge chunk collapsed at Charmouth minutes after we had walked past. Stick to the shoreline and you'll be fine.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind comments. We do try to make it a "home from home" and, of course, the glorious county of Dorset nearly always works it's magic.
