About the property

Villa CASA da RITA, Lisbon Coast, Portugal - Peaceful location, 5 minutes drive to Sintra vila and 15 minutes to the beaches

The house has been interestingly reconstructed within a secure garden with automatic gate entrance. The position of the house enables a great view of the palaces of historical Sintra, approximately 1,5km, at the same time being with easy reach of the many well known beaches of Lisbon Coast, namely Azenhas do Mar, Praia das Macas, Praia Grande, Adraga, Guincho, Estoril, all the way to Cascais. The house has its own landscape garden and swimming pool, it is never the less within 100m a cafe-bar-shop, and within 1.5 km of several well know and excellent local restaurants. It is comfortably for 8 persons with an extra bed or cot in the master bedroom. 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, very pleasant sitting areas inside the house and outside by the grass and the swimming pool. Also a sun room on the first floor with a particular fine view of the mountain.

About Rita Melo

I am Portuguese and I live in Sintra, in a little cottage next to Casa da Rita from where I am able to help and support holiday-makers.

What makes this villa unique

Sintra is one of the most beautiful and charming places in the world. The house has its own landscape garden and swimming pool. A small train travels passing by a children's Science Museum, a riding school, the well know winery in Colares to the beaches at the end.

A great place for a family get together

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoyed this great property. Plenty of space & had all that we needed. Head up the road & take the tram to the beach. Rita was very kind & took us to the grocery store for our supplies. A car might have been handy but Sintra is not a place where I would recommend driving.

Fantastic Place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband, daughter her husband and I stayed here for 3 glorious days. The house is so wonderful has everything you need. Location is so close to the castles. Loved sitting in the sunroom looking out at them. Small store with in walking distance. Rita was a fantastic host. Thank you for the cheese wine and crackers. I would recommend and hope to visit again.Thank you Portugal for such a great trip!

Wonderful villa with magical castle views

  • 5 of 5

What a brilliant place to stay with friends! We were a group of seven and we spent a wonderful week at Casa da Rita, using it as our base to explore Sintra's fairytale castles and the beaches around Cascais.

The villa had plenty of room, all the comforts we could want and a superb view of the Moorish Castle and Pena Palace. We will never forget sitting back each night looking up at the castles, all lit up and sparkling on the mountain crest.

Rita was fantastic to deal with, organising a truly memorable meal of typical Portugeuse food and wine for us as a special birthday lunch in the gardens of the villa. Chef Rui and his partner Elizabete came to the villa and prepared a beautiful 7-course meal that celebrated the best of Portugal. Their cooking, friendliness and enthusiasm helped create a wonderful atmosphere - delicious food married with different Portugeuse wines and a commentary provided on each course. Superb!

We also enjoyed the little shop down the road with lovely inexpensive wine, crusty bread and welcoming shopkeepers.

We found the villa to be just as described in the listing description - a special house in a special position, with a well-equipped kitchen, great wifi, a shady garden with inviting swimming pool and plenty of room. We had a car but mostly walked to the bus stop to take the bus to Sintra or the beaches.

All in all, Casa da Rita had everything for a truly memorable stay in the Sintra area.

Lovely villa with great views

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic large villa which was perfect. Big garden with plenty of shade and seating areas, nice pool which was big enough for all of us (6). Views are amazing of the mountains and the palaces. Kitchen was very well equipped and there were plenty of bathrooms and wcs etc. Cafe/shop opposite driveway had lovely sourdough bread which we ate far too much of, coffee and pastries, and basics - fruit and veg, milk, jam etc. Nearest restaurants are less than 5 minutes drive. You can walk into Sintra old town in about 25-30 minutes from the villa -head up to the main road and cross over and go up the fairly steep road - it doesn't take long and the views are good. Tram and bus stops are on the main road (8-10 minute walk). Beaches are about 10-15 minutes by car. Large supermarket 10 minutes drive. Rita lives next door but was very discrete and left us to enjoy the villa - we only saw her once on arrival and once the day before we left. Thoroughly recommend it.

Casa Rita, Sintra

  • 5 of 5

Casa Rita is a really lovely house, well equipped and we had a wonderful holiday there. We went with my sisters family (9 of us in total) and there was easily enough space for all of us.

We tended to go out during the day and then have our evening meal on the patio terrace each night, despite the large dining room inside. It was great to sit in the warm evenings looking out onto the fantastic views over to the palaces of Sintra all lit up on the hills opposite.

The kitchen had all the equipment we needed so it didn't hold us back on what we could cook.

The pool was great although if you want to do lengths it is a bit small. However both the adults and our teenage kids loved it for messing about in.

Sintra is very beautiful with amazing ornate palaces to look around. It is a 5 minute drive up to the centre but a good 20 min walk up a steep hill if you want the exercise!

Rita who owns the house lives next door. She was very helpful, relaxed and friendly, speaks great English, and was there if we needed anything.

The cafe at the end of the road was a typical portugese cafe serving great expressos. It does sell food basics but the nearest supermarkets are a 10 min drive away.

Overall we had a wonderful time at Casa Rita and I would totally recommend it.

Sintra et son environnemet sont une destination incontournable

  • 5 of 5
