About the property

Apartment in Saint Cyprien, Languedoc-Roussillon, France - Relaxing Location, 200m From the Beach, Balcony with Beautiful Views, Close to Amenities

The Languedoc-Roussillon region is one of Europe’s undiscovered gems. Close to the Pyrenees and Mediterranean coast, the region offers miles of sandy beaches with magnificent scenery to explore. The area enjoys 300+ days sunshine a year and offers excellent skiing in winter only 1hr30 mins drive from the apt. The area is steeped in history, with the medieval town of Carcassonne, Romanesque abbeys, Cathar castles and magical Mount Canigou all within driving distance. Its close proximity to Spain is another plus, with the historic towns of Figueres (Salvador Dali museum) 40 mins and Girona 1 hr 20 away. St Cyprien, which boasts the second largest marina on the Med, is 25 minutes from Perpignan airport and 30 minutes from the Spanish border. St Cyprien has numerous family friendly reasonably priced restaurants, open all year round to cater for the 10000 local inhabitants and holiday makers. Its strong Catalan influence is reflected in the menus and great selection of local wines on offer.

About Phelim & Michelle McDaid

We live in Dublin, Ireland with our children. We have holidayed in France for many years. After discovering St Cyprien in 2002, we returned here every year, such was the attraction of the place for us! We are still making new discoveries each time we go. The place is steeped in history and culture. We love the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of St Cyprien and the Catalan feel to the place. We love the food and wine and the marvellous beaches which are on our doorstep. We never cease to appreciate the marvellous view of the marina and mountains as we sit on our balcony! We treasure our daily walk/run/cycle around the laguna each morning to start our day!

Phelim & Michelle McDaid purchased this apartment in 2005

Why Phelim & Michelle McDaid chose Saint-Cyprien Plage

St Cyprien, with 300+ days sunshine a year, has a wonderful blend of getting away from it all, with great restaurants and activities on your doorstep. Set against the backdrop of the Pyrenees, there is a wonderful sandy beach just across the road, and the apartment complex backs on to the lovely marina of la lagune.

There is a boulangerie just across the road for early morning baguette and croissants, while there is a variety of shops just a 10 minute walk down the road, with local produce including Catalan cheeses, meats and wines available and some lovely restaurants.

The area is easily accessible by flight from Ireland and UK to many locations including Perpignan, Carcassonne, Toulouse, Girona, Barcelona, Beziers and Rodez.

There is a train service to nearby Elne and Argeles sur Mer.

What makes this apartment unique

We enjoy a run around the lagune each morning, collecting fresh bread from the boulangerie on our way home to enjoy breakfast al fresco on the balcony. The beach and pool are just across the road.

Many other pretty villages are just a €1 bus-ride away. The cliff walk from Racou to Collioure, followed by moules-frites and a glass of rosé is a personal favourite way to spend an afternoon. There are plenty and varied restaurants in walking or biking distance.

Aqualand waterpark is a fantastic attraction just 5 mins down the road. We have stayed in resorts where people have travelled hours to such facilities!

Being within driving distance to Spain is an added bonus of this location. Figueres, home of Salvador Dali with its wacky museum is a must see!

Guestbook comments from the owner

1.Apt v clean, comfortable & in great location. It was very safe for kids+just a few metres frm beach. Within walking distance of shops, bars, restaurants, etc but also v peaceful and quiet. If you hire a car, there's many places to visit, from small coastal villages, larger towns/cities, mountains, beaches & NE Spain. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this apt for a holiday or as a base to sightsee. E&L Corry, Ennis

2.We stayed in this lovely clean apt in St Cyp last year with our 2 young children and had a fabulous time. The apt was at the end of a cul-de-sac just off the beach. The boating marina along the rear of the apt block, beach out front and short distance to the local shopping & eating area across the lagoon made it an ideal base for day and evening activities. There was plenty of sights nearby to visit, but with some much to do where we were we didn't need to! P&N OSullivan,Cork.

Great Spot for Families

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is in a great location, away from the more touristy areas further along the coast.

The beach is a natural one with dunes and is not too busy in the summer months (from what we could see).

The pool, shared with the adjacent apartment isn't huge but is perfectly suited for children of most ages.

The apartment itself is clean and equipped for most things a family would need. The provision of beach towels and bath towels is very much appreciated as it allows you to carry onboard luggage, avoiding extra baggage charges.

The alimentation/shop nearby is ideal for collecting your daily baguettes (which appears to be compulsory in France!) and other basics. The ready cooked chicken and pizza is ideal for a quick and easy meal when you've just arrived.

The owners provided extensive details of places to visit and things to see if there was ever a chance of getting bored of being on the beach (we didn't but forced ourselves to explore a little!)

I would recommend this apartment and location to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing holiday with the chaos of a heavily populated tourist resort.
