About the property

Villa in Nerja, Costa Del Sol, Spain - Peaceful Location On The Outskirts Of Nerja .

Our villa has three twin bedrooms (one ensuite) as well as another bathroom with full bath.

There are big mirrored wardrobes in each bedroom with a safe in two of the bedrooms.

Upstairs, there is a large lounge and dining area that leads onto a large terrace with stunning sea views.

This terrace has a big sun canopy as well as a table and 6 chairs.

There's also a small table and chairs to relax at night.( see photos).

The kitchen is well equipped with household appliances and kitchen utensils.There is a large barbecue area in the back garden with private access through a gatewhich can only be opened by you to the communal pool.

There are 6 sunbeds with cushions in the pool area for your use.

We have private parking inside a gate.

Linen and towels are provided but please bring your own towels for the beach.

About Eleanor

My husband and I live in Ireland and we fell in love with Spain many years ago.

We have 3 adult children who use the property often.

We spend a lot of time in Nerja as we have recently retired.

We love Spanish food especially fish dishes and the beautiful tapas.

We cycle a lot in the Nerja area and we love swimming in the sea or in the pool.

The people of Nerja are very friendly.

Why Eleanor chose Urbanización Ladera del Mar

Ladera del Mar is situated just 45 minutes east of Malaga on the outskirts of Nerja on the road to Torrox. Ladera Del Mar is set on a lovely hillside but the villa is on the flat so no hills to climb. There are stunning sea views from the poolside or the upstairs terrace. A 5 minute drive or a 25 minute walk along the beach takes you into the beautiful authentic town of Nerja which still has all of its Spanish charm.There'a a bus on into Nerja for€1. We both love Nerja because it has avoided the blight of high rise buildings that has affected most of southern Spain.

The people of Nerja are very friendly and they remember us in certain restaurants and shops every time we go to Nerja.

We can walk out our front door and go east or west to find lovely beaches or go for leisurely walks.

What makes this villa unique

Nerja is flanked by a dramatic mountain range and it boasts 16 miles of sandy beaches

Our villa is situated in a peaceful area yet it is within 5 minutes drive of the town of Nerja.

Having a private access to the communal pool was one of the reasons we bought this property rather than any other one. Free sunbeds are provided and there are large trees there to provide shade when it gets too hot by our own pool.

As Ladera del Mar is situated on a hillside, like lots of urbanisations in Nerja, we bought a house on the flat at the front of the development to make walking into and out of town easier.

A fabulous find!

What a fantastic place!! Everything we could have wanted in one villa! Throughly enjoyed our stay! From the helpful information we were given when we first booked all the way through to the maids and pool man who popped in and out! Loved the place the villa and Nerja itself! We tried many of the places recommended and loved them all! The bus in to Nerja was so easy although getting back was a challenge and we resorted to a taxi instead! There is still so much for us to explore! We will be back! Thank you Eleanor for a fabtastic holiday!

Fantasic accommodation!

Excellent location, just opposite a sandy beach. Although, next to the main coast road you don't notice the traffic. We hired a car for the week, however this isn't necessary as the bus stop is less than 30 seconds away, which provides transport direct into the town for just 1 Euro and a taxi back cost us no more than 6 Euros.

We travelled as a family of four with two young boys, aged 6 and 4. Had a choice of two pools which was great as the kids could jump into the private pool at will, without disturbing guests from neighbouring properties.

The villa was clean and well equipped, having every thing you need for a comfortable stay, plus a few extras....inflatables and toys for both the pool and beach.

The owner was very helpful in the run up to our holiday, answering any question promptly and fortunately for us there were no guests arriving the day of our departure which gave us the opportunity to stay a bit later than the usual check out time.

The villa is in a ideal location for both the town and exploring further afield with good links to the motorway. Directions provided to the villa were accurate enough to get us there safely.

Nerja is a beautiful town with an abundance of places to eat out of an evening and many small shops to purchase souvenirs from your trip.

Visited the much acclaimed Burriana Beach on a couple of occasions, but found the beach opposite the villa far nicer, particularly if you like your own space as Burriana gets very busy. If you do venture down to Burriana stop off at Ayo for a Paella lunch...yum!

Just 15 minutes from the villa is Aquavelis which is a great place to cool off during the hot Costa Sun. Not the biggest water park we have ever been to but that means less queues. Good value for money and vouchers can be found giving money off, picked up a few at the caves and left them in the information pack at the villa for future guests.

Caves were very impressive and just 10 minutes drive from the villa, however Health and Safety laws not up to UK standards in my opinion, so if you have young children who like to explore keep hold of them and there are lots of steps and drops beyond the railings which had gaps for little ones to fit through.

In all was an excellent holiday which was made much better by the comfortable accommodation. It was so nice that after packing up on the last day both boys were crying as the got in the car to leave. Many thanks to Eleanor and family for a brilliant stay.

Well equipped and great location

We really enjoyed our first visit to beautiful Nerja and this lovely property was in a great location. Just off the main road into town which meant a only a relatively flat 25 minute walk or 5 minute ride on the hourly €1 bus which also stops at the SuperSol supermarket. This meant we easily managed without the need for a hire car during our stay and we arranged airport transfers through Eleanor's property manager.

The house has a lovely view from the upstairs balcony/living room out to sea and a nice shaded private garden with BBQ, and larger grassed communal garden and pool, both at the rear.

We visited with out baby daughter and found the kitchen very well equipped for preparing food with most equipment and utensils you would have at home, unlike some other self-catering properties that have little more than cutlery.

The house too had most of the things you might want while on holiday including sun loungers, lilos, sun umbrellas and buckets and spades!

Our only suggestion would be to provide bedding for the supplied travel cot. We forgot to bring out own but managed to improvise using the spare sheets from an unused bed.

The nearby shop has most essentials. Most supermarkets seem to shut on Sundays though so if arriving on a Saturday be sure to stock up then if you need to.

As well as the private and communal pools there are several beaches to visit. The quiet beach just across the road, the beach on the short walk into town, and several more beaches of varying sizes in Nerja itself including the busier Burriana beach on the other side of town which seemed to be more sheltered on a few windy days.

The tourist train from the Nerja museum to the Nerja caves is well worth doing as well.

Absolutely perfect break with not a smell of smoke anywhere.

We wanted somewhere that we could commute from, not only by car but on foot and by bus and this was absolutely perfect.

As a party of four.... Our daughter who is 8 and my mum who is older it was a perfect location.

We walked to Nerja, to the local beach and restaurants and drove to the supamarket, local market and attractions.

Perfect holiday for us all. Thank you

A number of small pretty coves are in walking distance for the villa.The nearest is 3-5 mins from the house.

All major water sports are available in Nerja including waterskiing, scuba diving and sailing.

There are 3 very good restaurants near the villa and the main beach has 3 or 4 Chiringuitos (beach restaurants) serving traditional foods at a very reasonable price. An ideal place to stop on your way home from Nerja town.

The famous Burriana beach is less than 10 minutes drive away.


The villa is 45 minutes drive from Malaga airport on the motorway. A car is recommended but the bus service is excellent too.

Alternatively a taxi can be arranged bring you to Nerja for about €80 euro.


Ladera del Mar is 5 minutes drive from Nerja or 25 minutes walk along the beach.

There's a bus service into Nerja from the villa on a regular basis.It costs €1.

Granada is about 90 minutes away. Booking in advance is recommended to visit the world famous Alhambra palace and gardens.The beautiful town of Frigiliana is a short bus ride away.

Further Details:

Nerja is flanked by the Sierra Almijara mountain range yet it is unspoilt by high rise buildings. It is still a genuine Spanish town.

The heart of Nerja is the magnificent Balcon de Europa, a spectaular promenade set above a towering cliff with breathtaking views along the coast and of the small sandy beaches below.

The old quarter of the town has narrow winding streets with whitewashed houses.

There are plenty of restaurants and bars serving international cuisine along with traditional Spanish foods like fried fish, Paella and tapas.

Nerja's most famous attraction is the Nerja caves just 3kms drive outside the town. I would definitely recommend a visit.

The town of Frigiliana overlooking Nerja is beautiful.
