Comfortable, welcoming and family friendly house in an ideal location in the centre of the charming village of Thorpeness, 2 miles from the shops, galleries and fine restaurants of Aldeburgh. On the doorstep of the Thorpeness Country Club with its tennis courts, it is a very short walk to the beach or to the Meare, where boats are for hire in the Summer months. Decorated in warm colours matching the seaside location, Brambletye comfortably sleeps 10 in 5 good-sized bedrooms spread over floors 2 and 3. On the ground floor there is a well-equipped kitchen with seating for 6 at breakfast and a dining room catering for 10. Adults have their own cosy sitting room with TV and fireplace at the front of the house while the children have a large playroom with TV adjoining the house at the rear. The enclosed garden has decking with an outdoor table and chairs for 8 and a grassed area with barbecue.
Hello, I am a busy mother of 4 kids . We have had the house since the birth of my youngest, now 14 years . It was used every weekend and all holidays for years but now the children are busy with sport, drama and university. The house was lying empty far too often and it was sad, both for me and the house itself. I decided to rent it out as we have had such happy times there. The house copes well with big families. There is loads to see and do in the area. I wanted to share it with other people. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Pamela bryson purchased this in 1998
I like this location because it is not far from home and we can use it even for day trips. I am Australian and I wanted my children to have constant contact with the sea. Thorpeness is wonderful because it is uncrowded and old fashioned . It makes me feel like I have arrived on holiday every time I drive into it. The same people return year after year and this replicates the holidays of my childhood. We had a beach house not far from Syney and we saw the same people year after year. Friendships grew based on this sporadic contact and I wanted this for my children and it has worked.
Everyone is very safe, even little children. The house is across the road from the Country Club and the kids just wander in and out from the house to the club. All of mine have grown up on those tennis courts and I can see where they are just looking out the kitchen window. They meet other children that way and play a lot of tennis. They spend a lot of time rowing on the Meare having picnics and filling in the day.My eldest likes to have dinner parties on the veranda .My son and husband like to golf in a ramshackle way around the golf course. My husband loves sea fishing and so everyday when he can spare the time he is on the beach casting out his line.Everyone gads about on their bikes. In summer we particularly like to go to the Jill Freud play season.
Location location location – Brambletye is the most wonderful house to stay in. It is in the best location possible, near to the Country Club, off the main road and a short walk away from the beach and the pub! We have stayed here for ten years and have loved every second of it. The house is beautifully decorated, is full of character and has a real feel of “the seaside”. We couldn’t recommend it more highly. Antonia Previte.
Fantastic Holiday Home
Wonderful seaside feeling throughout the house with everything you need to make your holiday perfect and only a few minutes from the local shop, the Meare and the beach.I have stayed here by myself and still felt at home, only one drawback- you have to leave!
We were 6 ladies in our party for the Aldeburgh Literary Festival. The house was excellent for us as it was spacious (all 5 bedrooms a good size), very comfortable and well equipped with plenty of hot water, masses of towels and extra bedding available. SS
11 of us of mixed ages spent a birthday weekend here, it was our second visit. Pamelas house is unique in a unique setting. House is very comfortable and spacious, everything you could possibly need is provided, and a lovely fire for the colder months. Super walk along the beach to Aldeburgh, grab some fish and chips or buy wonderful seafood from the many beach huts. All in all a perfect VERY English retreat.............but don`t tell everyone!
This is a wonderful house with enough space to bring three families with kids together in. There are three large double bedrooms with two further bedrooms for kids - one of which we have slept 6 in with ease. There are two lounges, a well equipped kitchen & a dining room. Two bathrooms mean no queues for the loo! The house is clean & well equipped & Pamela is attentive to ideas for improvement which we can testify to as we have rented the property each of the last four years. The property is well positioned in the heart of Thorpeness; a short stroll to the beach & just round the corner from the fantastic dolphin pub & village shop. To the north & south there are great coastal walks. We will be back!
This is our second time staying in Pamela's amazing house. The first time was during peak season and the second was right at the end. Both times Thorpeness offered up a great holiday experience. The house is really comfortable and clean and is brilliantly equipped for large or small parties. Equally great for big families or small groups; it feels really homely and spacious and the location is perfect for everything. Brambletye is a fantastic holiday home and I am sure we will be back again soon. Thank you.
This is a fantastic property in a convenient location for the beach and village.
We were 3 generations of family staying for just a weekend. Ages ranged from 4 years old to 78 years young!
This beautiful property was perfect for each generation, fantastically well stocked with towels etc and wonderfully sized bedrooms. We really couldn't have wished for more.
The downsides - (a) not spending enough time at the property as we were at a family wedding and (b) going home!
Thank you Pam. We really loved staying in your home.
Our second visit to Brambletye and it was just as good as we had remembered. We were a party of 8 - grandparents, parents and four lively children 13 - 8. Perfect, quiet, virtually traffic free location with so many activities in the area. 5 minute walk to the beach and the boating lake and walks in all directions. Tennis courts opposite and golf nearby. The house is very well equipped with lots of space. The playroom is ideal for wet day activities and grandpa can sit peacefully in the sitting room away from the noise and bustle. Pamela is a very responsive and helpful owner. We want to book again for next year and the year after….
I have been coming on holiday to Thorpness for a week in the summer holidays for over 40 years and as you can imagine my parents and I have rented a lot of properties here. I found to my delight Brambletye last year and Pam the owner who I can say is fantastic, nothing is a problem, always there to help. What can I say, but it's a fantastic house, very well equipped, plenty of room, colourful, great enclosed garden everything you could possibly want especially if you are a large bunch like us.
Thorpness has the meare which the children love, beach, village shop, a couple of cafe's and the pub, all a couple of minutes walk from the house. Wonderful walks on the heath or beach.
Go on give it a try, you'll love it!
