3 Malt Cottages is a pretty, 3 storey beamed terraced cottage, converted from a former Malt House. Set in ideal holiday location close to beach and ancient village of Sutton Poyntz. Cottage is well modernised and fully equipped, with 2 double and one single bedroom and enjoys views over hills to famous White Horse. Large front garden with separate patio and decking areas to enjoy morning and evening sun, with BBQ and chiminea. Grocery shops, restaurant and several pubs within few minutes walk. 2 miles to old port of Weymouth and town beaches, close to Portland (Sailing Olympics 2012), Dorchester and Gateway to the Jurassic Coast. Well served by local buses. Several holiday parks nearby pay testament to this area as a great place for family holidays.

About Judith and Ian Griffiths

We are Ian and Judith Griffiths. We bought the cottage 10 years ago and have loved it ever since as a holiday home which has been enjoyed many times by all our family and friends. In the last couple of years, with a teenager in the family, we have found that we visited less often. So we have decided this year to start sharing our property with other families looking for a comfortable home in a ideal location. We are very close to Weymouth and the beaches but also in a semi-rural spot where hiking in the hills is right on the back doorstep. Sutton Poyntz, a 10 minute stroll away, is delightful - we hope you love our house as much as we do.

Judith and Ian Griffiths purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Judith and Ian Griffiths chose Dorset

We live in Bournemouth so buying a property in Weymouth, where we knew we could visit regularly for weekends, seemed a perfect choice. There are holiday parks in the area of Preston which indicated that it would be a popular destination for holidaymakers. We have explored the whole area of the Jurassic Coast from our cottage, it is a great place to stay, within striking distance of many lovely seaside villages and holiday attractions for all the family. We can thoroughly recommend it as an ideal location for an action-packed break.

What makes this cottage unique

Tranquil semi-rural location, with a regular short bus service to the old port of Weymouth just a 5 minutes walk away. Stroll for just 10 minutes through country lanes and you are in the 1,000 year old village of Sutton Poyntz - feed the ducks under the willow tree, then sit out with a cool drink in the Springhead pub looking out over the fields to the famous White Horse. Leave the car behind and walk up into the hills direct from the cottage for great views towards Portland and the Weymouth bay. Great beaches are less than a 5 minute drive away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

2012 is our second year of renting and we welcomed 17 families last year who left us some lovely guest comments. We are delighted so many people have enjoyed our 'happy house' as much as we do - Ian and Judith.

'We had a lovely two weeks in your beautiful cottage. We visited lots of lovely places...thank you for a great holiday. We love Dorset and will be back' - Mr P, Macclesfield.

'A great cottage and garden in ideal location - quiet, but within striking distance of all the best parts of Dorset.' Mrs H, Lee-on-Solent

'Lovely cottage with attention to detail. Very well equipped kitchen, everything we needed for a self-catering break.' - Mr S, Bayford, Herts

perfect holiday cotttage!

A beautiful cottage in a lovely village. The cottage was clean and very well equipped.from plenty of items in the kitchen to a selection of games to play! It has a gorgeous garden area with plenty of outdoor seating. The cottage is very close to many surrounding attractions and only a couple of minutes from Weymouth itself, but was lovely to go back the quiet village, where the children loved seeing the weymouth donkeys in their field and walking through the picturesque village. The information provided for the cottage was very detailed and thorough. A most enjoyable stay, and would definietly re-book the cottage on another visit to weymouth!

One mile drive to Overcombe beach (or walking distance over fields), two miles to beautiful beaches of Weymouth.

Weymouth 2 miles, Dorchester 3 miles, 30/40 minutes drive to Corfe Castle and Swanage.

Further Details:

Our cottage is close to Monkey World, Weymouth Sea Life centre, Bovington Tank Museum and gateway to the natural scenic beauty of the jurassic coastline. Lots of lovely untouched beach coves and walks into the hills around the village. Sheep shearing can be seen in Sutton Poyntz in season. 100 yards from our front door you will find the stables for the Weymouth Beach Donkeys, they love you to pop down and say hello!
