This unique 19th century Cave House has been lovingly restored to a high standard, set in beautiful lush tropical gardens, with private pool. Surrounded by orange and lemon groves with olive and almond farms also. There are stunning 360 degree Mountain views, making this property ideally located for cycling, walking, bird watching and wildlife/nature enthusiasts. The village of La Murada is only 1 km, with plenty of typical Spanish bars and restaurants, as well as banks, chemist, supermarkets, several specialist shops, a petrol station and medical centre. La Murada is well known for its excellent market, on a Sunday, which brings people in from all over the area.

About Claire Fage

My name is Claire, myself and my mother have owned and lived in this beautiful Cave House since 2001. We have restored and transformed a basic cave house, had electric and plumbing fitted and brought together modern day living with the charm and beauty of this very old property. We now rent so others may sample life living in a cave house.

What a beautiful place to stay. We spent many an afternoon in the private pool, reading a book and looking over at the mountains. The garden is beautiful, very well kept and looked after. The cave house is quirky, clean and very spacious. We ate in every night as the kitchen was so well equipped. The friendly and easy going owners have obviously done their homework, and fitted the property with everything you need for a 'home from home' stay. We all enjoyed our holiday at the Cave House. We hired a car, which was very cheap, from Alicante Airport.

Notes on accommodation: The Cave house maintains a constant comfortable temperature all year round so there is no need for air conditioning or fans in the summer. Although fans are provided in some rooms. Electric, Gas & Water are all included in the rental price. Catering is available, can provide airport transfers. please email with your requirements. Outside: Private pool is surrounded by a tiled terrace with sun loungers, reclining chairs. Soft comfortable garden furniture on another terrace including tables, chairs and parasols. BBQ area with access to kitchen via window. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and towels are provided. The property is cleaned between lets. Additional cleaning can be arranged. Beach/Pool towels are available on request for a small fee. Cot & High Chair available for hire. Wheelchair and bycicle available for hire.

We stayed for my mum 60th and we loved it.

Clean and well presented.

Claire was helpful and kindly picked up some food stuff for us in advance of our arrival. We arrived exceptionally late due to flight delays but she took the time to show us were everything was. Kids really enjoyed the pool and the bbq. The rooms were very clean and having sweets and drinks in the cave was a nice touch. The big supermarket nearby was discreet but very handy.

I loved the cave, loved the area,

the Sunday market was brilliant - Fresh churros were a revelation!

and have recommended the villa to so many people.

We can't wait to come back .....

Lovely House

Well laid out house and garden. Incredibly cool inside despite the heat outside. Very quiet area but within walking distance to shops etc in nearby town. Comfortable beds. Owner very friendly and helpful.

Great place to stay in lovely countryside

Just back from a great week at the Cave House, a mixed group of 6 cyclists who all enjoyed the area and coming home to a welcoming house with a great pool. Claire made us very welcome and removed all the transfer hassle - even for our bikes!

The bedrooms stayed cool at night and the grounds hot by day.

Excellent bars and restaurants in the nearby town.

Highly recommended.

Location idéale pour l'été

La maison cave est décorée avec soin et bien outillée. La terrasse est très agréable et très cosy. L'environnement de la maison est agréable. Nous sommes partis en famille fin avril, malheureusement la météo n'a pas été clémente, la maison souffrant d'humidité, un chauffage était nécessaire. Mais Claire et son mari sont aux petits soins : chauffage fourni, machine à laver à disposition, bouteilles de lait et de jus d'orange mises au frigo pour les enfants, bouteille de vin offerte à notre arrivée. Il aurait été utile de préciser dans le descriptif que la maison est équipée d'une fosse septique, le papier dans les toilettes est donc interdit.

L'environnement extérieur nous a déçu. Effectivement, la vue sur les orangers est magnifique mais pour des raisons météorologiques, les agriculteurs utilisent un générateur pour pomper l'eau, ce qui est bruyant. Les villes d'Elche et d'Orihuela valent le détour. Nous avons eu de nombreuses difficultés à nous orienter à Murcia. Les plages sont éloignées, il faut compter environ 45 minutes à 1 heure pour y accéder. Un véhicule est indispensable pour se déplacer.

Pour résumer, maison cave très appréciable en été préservant l'intimité et offrant une bouffée d'oxygène de dépaysement. L'environnement extérieur nous a moins plu.

Owner's Response: It is sad the weather was very unkind to this family and it rained heavily the whole week, which made it difficult to find things to do having 2 young children. Now where looks as good in the rain as it does with the sun shinning. This family had an added problem with their carwhich had a fault this resulted in taking them much longer to drive to anywhere. Hopefully we made their stay better by providing heaters and advice.

Special interest holidays:

The Thermal Spa Baths of Fortuna and Archena are a short drive away. Orihuela is a very old medieval town with lots of historical buildings is 10 mins drive. Elche which is approx 20 mins drive is famous for its Palm Tree park. Murcia and Alicante are both old historical cities with lots of interesting attractions.

Benidorm is with-in easy reach and has many water/fun parks.

Coast/Beach:

The beaches of Guardamar, Santa Pola and La Marina are 29kms away.

Travel:

By Car, Alicante Airport is 30 mins, Murcia Airport is 45 mins. Car hire is advised. Airport pick-up and drop-off can be arranged at an additional cost.

Distances:

Distances in time by car. Orihuela is the closest large town which is 10 mins. Elche is 15 mins. City of Murcia is 25 mins. City of Alicante is 35 mins. Torrevieja is 45 mins. Benidorm about an hour.

Further Details:

This is a perfect location for walkers,cyclists and nature/wildlife enthusiasts. Ideal for families. The entire property is fenced with double gates at the entrance.

£150 security/damage deposit is to be paid on arrival and refunded after completion of full house checks.
