Great place for a family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We were delighted with this spacious, well equipped and clean pair of interlinked gîtes. The property sits on the side of a huge courtyard, on a hill, surrounded by vineyards in the countryside. There is a lovely breeze. The pretty town of Douelle is a short drive away, with a shop and excellent Auberge, and there are all the major supermarkets just outside Cahors.

Susie is an excellent host and always very helpful, should you need her.

Our four children loved swimming in the pool, playing table tennis and croquet and going for walks amongst the vines. The pool and dining area is lovely, with plenty of shade.

We also enjoyed kayaking and swimming in the Lot, tree climbing in Pradines, the Sunday market in Moncuq and wine tasting. But most of all, we liked to lounge by the pool!

We would love to return for another holiday.

Perfect family holiday!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful fortnight we spent in this lovely converted barn! Everything was perfect for our family group, which spanned three generations. The older members of our party were able to escape for some peace and quiet in the downstairs annexe. We all made full use of the pool and outdoor dining area and BBQ. As mentioned in previous reviews, the salt water pool was fab. We were dubious, but having read them decided to try it and we are converted! There was a good selection of both indoor and outdoor games, as well as books.

Suzie was an excellent host who made us feel so welcome that the property being in her grounds was never an issue. Suzie was also very helpful with suggestions for trips out and ideas for eating out locally, including kayaking and some fab markets.

The youngest member of our party particularly liked visiting the donkeys in the neighbouring field!

We would not hesitate in recommending this property and only wish we could return soon!

Fantastic break with friends

  • 5 of 5

Plafaisan was a fantastic place to spend the week, we only wished it was longer!! The property is spacious and the kitchen has everything you could wish for in it. We ate in the covered dining area every night and lounged by the pool every afternoon. We are all in our late 20's and early 30's and have to say that the house was just perfect for the mix of relaxation and fun we were after. The pool was big enough for all 7 of us to enjoy at once and we partook in a few pool volleyball matches. There is lots to do in the surrounding area, we went to local markets, canoeing, the Grottes, took a day trip to Carcasonne and Sarlat, to name just a few activities. Susie was very friendly and welcoming and even assisted us in booking our canoe trip. We'd love to go back and were in agreement that for a group of young(ish) individuals who had got the clubbing holidays out of our system Plaf was just what we needed to unwind from our hectic life's and enjoy good company in excellent surroundings.

La Plafaisan is a lovely place to spend a holiday. The property is spacious, comfortable, clean and well appointed with everything you need to have a fantastic holiday. The pool area is great with plenty of sun-loungers and umbrellas, the covered, outside kitchen and BBQ area makes outdoor eating so easy. We had great fun in the lovely pool and also playing table tennis. The area is beautiful, with lots of attractions not too far away. We went canoeing on the Lot near Prayssac which was great. Susie made us feel very welcome, but at the same time we had as much privacy as we wanted. There are plenty of games and dvd's should the weather not be too good. We ate in Douelle at the Auberge many times, which we loved. We had an amazing holiday and will definitely be going back as soon as possible.

A special place

  • 5 of 5

This was a holiday for three generations of the family and the dog and we all found something to love about Plafaisan. The accommodation was brilliant and allowed us to separate out the youngsters into their own part of the house. The main living room is large enough for the whole family to play games and eat if the weather is bad. We spent most of our time by the pool or playing games in the garden and there are lovely walks around the vineyard and further afield just by walking out of the garden into the orchard. The covered area by the pool was perfect.

I have always worried about being in close proximity to the owner of a gite but Susie made us so welcome and made it very easy for us to relax. There is loads to see and do in this area for every generation and there are plenty of games provided including croquet and table tennis.

The house is near enough to Cahors to make shopping easy and close to Douelle for bread, bars and restaurants.

We will certainly be back.

The house is well equipped, comfortable, clean and well thought out. There are plenty of games to suit all, both indoors and out. There is table tennis by the pool, boules, croquet, amongst others. The area is very pretty, plenty of good walks around. The house sits on a slight hill and so gets a lovely breeze, which is very welcome in the heat. The shady area near the pool is perfect, with a large table for outdoor eating, along with a barbecue. This is in addition to excellent poolside with plenty of loungers, and saltwater which is much nicer than chlorine. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. I have no hesitation in recommending this house, we loved it.
