About Alan Taylor

We are a married couple from SW Scotland in our early 50s. We both work seperately my wife as a pharmacist and I work in property development and rentals.We first visited Lagos with friends in 2006. Though it was only a 3 day visit we knew straight away that we would be back at some stage. (we bought the apartment a few months later) We try to visit Lagos as many times in a year as work allows and have had many enjoyable short breaks in and out of season to re charge our batteries.

Why Alan Taylor chose Lagos

Condominio Do mar was the first apartment we looked at and after viewing many more we decided that it ticked all the boxes for us.

We liked the location due to the short walk to the beaches and town and also the night life.Whilst we enjoy the odd lively night out we also enjoy the peace and quiet of Condominio Do Mar, being able to relax and take in the fantastic view from our balcony. The security was also important especialy as some of our guests have young children.

Great location between the beach and the marina - an easy walk to both

This is a nice apartment with beautiful views of the coast and the town. The pool is lovely with plenty of sun-loungers; the beach and the marina are each an easy walk (our kids are 6 and 8); and the old town is a pleasant 15-20 minute stroll away. A great location for a family holiday!

The property is near the Marina, on the 5th floor, very clean, in a safe complex, with restaurant.

We have come to this apartment several times. It is very clean and there is a mid stay

change of bedlinen and towels and apartment is cleaned. Everything works in this

apartment and the complex is very well maintained. 24 hour reception and very nice staff there and very helpful. The complex is very near the railway station, the bus stop and 5/10 minutes from the Marina, which is truly awesome. Boats and cafes and music in the summer.

The apartment has everything you need for a self catering holiday, kitchen, dining cum

sitting room, separate bathroom and twin beds in bedroom. Balcony outside for the amazing views of the sea and the town. A sight to behold during the day with the sea to the left and the town to the righrt. At night the town lit up is just wonderful.

Loads to do in Lagos, we have taken the boat trip to Sagres this year and enjoyed that very much. We got to see the caves on this trip too. The cost is €50 for the day, including lunch.

We love Portugal and the Algarve and the weather is just lovely too.

Some people love France, some Lanzarote, but we just love this part of the Algarve and

that's why we go back.

There is a nice restaurant downstairs, Matilde, handy.

Another restaurant we like a lot is Triangulo.

The apartment is about 15 minutes from the town of Lagos but the walk there along the

promenade is joyful and lots of stalls with jewellery and clothes and bags and more bags

and cork products. Lots of presents and ways to spend money. Great fun too.

Of course, the beaches! To the left of the apartment is the amazing beach Meia Praia,

miles and miles of sand. Bus to this beach 5 minutes, or about 10/15 minute walk.

Other beaches too, Ana, Camillo, the bus goes by all these beaches and runs hourly.

The water is warm and ideal for swimming and sailing and surfing and the beaches are

clean and the sand soft. The more I write the more I want to go back!

For Irish people and GAA fanatics, there is an Irish pub in the centre of town where you

can watch your hurling and football.

However, I think my favourite thing about the Algarve and Lagos is the peope. The staff

in the shops, in the bus station, the taxi drivers, the waiters, such a warm people who are

glad to help the visitors and so gracious in every way. Everything is great value for money too. Wish I had another holiday booked right now!

Lovely Apt with fantastic views

First visit to Portugal. Being Staying in apts for more than 20 yrs in different countries. This apt tops them all. Very spacious and well equiped, home from home. Fantastic views from 5th floor, air con. Complex well run, security high on agenda, staff friendly and helpful. Restaurant on complex if you don't feel like walking far. Lovely pool abd small. children pool. Five minute walk to Marina, 20 to old town. Definitely be booking for next year.kate

Location

Coast/Beach:

Meia Praia a sandy 3-mile stretch of gently sloping beach is only 10 minutes walk away with beach bars and restaurants open for lunch and evening meals as well as snacks throughout the day. There are other secluded unspoilt beaches along the West Coast. Grottos and coves, miles of cliff top coastal walks, from surf dudes and kite surfers to the skinny dippers and nudists - there are beaches for everyone.

Travel:

By road: Lagos is approx 45mins drive from Faro airport. Taxi and coach transfers are available from the airport.By raill: Take a 7 euro taxi journey from the airport to Faro Station and catch a train to Lagos. It's a journey that takes about 1 hour by car/bus and 11/2 train . Lagos station is located behind the Marina and within walking distance of the apartment. Car hire is an option and is good value, especially if you want to explore further. contact owner for reasonable transfer details.

Distances:

Portimao - 20 mins drive. Albufeira - 30 mins drive. Vilamoura - 40 mins drive. Burgau – 20 mins drive. Slide and splash water park – 30 mins drive.

Further Details:

The Municipal Sports Centre is a few minutes walk away and has a competition sized indoor pool and large state of the art gym. Classes are available daily. Excursions can be booked on the Marina ranging from sailing to power boating, from dolphin safaris to grotto trips and many more. Keeping our younger guests entertained is easily done with two water parks in the area, Zoo Marine - where you can swim with the dolphins, and Lagos Zoo with over 120 species of animal living in natural habitats. The Algarve promises a fantastic climate and year round sunshine. Lagos has something going on all year round. The historic Old Town with its warren of twisted cobbled streets contrasts its sophisticated restaurants with small local eating places tucked in the back of beyond. There is a restaurant to suit all budgets and tastes - you would struggle to find a bad restaurant! Jazz clubs, night clubs, bars, cafes, shops and boutiques blend with the mixture of historical buildings and Moorish architecture.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day can be flexible. Generally the apartment will be available from 1400h on arrival and should be vacated by 1000h on day of departure. If possible, we will try to accommodate any reasonable variations on these timings.
