Lovely

  • 5 of 5

After a 5 1/2 hour delay at Gatwick with BA due to engine failure we arrived at this very secluded and rural area around mid night. Maureen the owner was so kind to come out and meet us, guide us in and the villa was exactly what we wanted. We had a very quiet two weeks as requested with fantastic views of the Orange Groves, Olive Groves and Mountains. The Pool was large, clean and very welcoming. The Villa itself was very Spanish & comfortable and we had a lovely holiday

Great stay at Casa Maja. Large pool with fantastic views across the countryside. Villa was spacious and very well equipped. Maureen was on hand with advice about the local area but never to intrusive. We all had an enjoyable and relaxing stay.

Peaceful, relaxing getaway.

  • 4 of 5

We were looking for a quiet/private villa with great outdoor space to relax and enjoy the Spain sun. We definitely found it at this villa. Lovely big pool, sun lounge areas, and outside dining. Could not get enough of the stunning view. The villa itself is very spacious. Had a wonderful family holiday. Thanks Maureen!

Perfect relaxation

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Casa Maja Valencia in April was an absolute retreat for peace and tranquillity.

Set in a lush valley amongst orange and olive groves, breath-taking views, where-else would the Spanish people come to relax away from it all.

The villa is a typical older Spanish style villa, very spacious beautiful, atmospheric and romantic. Tasteful, elegant furnishings and even a four poster bed, a honeymooners delight! Well equipped kitchen and ample towels, sheets, videos, dvds.

The pool, patios and gardens are spacious and private with astounding views to drift away the day or watch the sun set over the valley with a bottle of red wine. There are private gardens to explore on a higher level so you are certainly not on top of each other here.

We mostly visited beautiful Xativa, Eroski supermarket has everything you need. Valencia is about 45mins and well worth a few trips for culture, shopping and nightlife. Tavernes is a gorgeous beach and the closest too.

You do need a car as nothing is really within walking distance. Due to its peaceful location we feel it isn't suitable if you want nightlife, excitement or be on top of Valencia. Our teenagers were bored here and there but what teenagers aren't! This is the perfect location and villa for pure relaxation.

Maureen was always most helpful and on hand for advice but has separate, private accommodation at the end of the drive and will not bother you.

We arrived dishevelled and burnt out from the joys of being self-employed. We left two weeks later rejuvenated, relaxed and very happy.

Thank you Maureen for sharing your beautiful home with us and we look forward to our return very soon.

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a 2 week break at Casa Maja.

You could not wish for a better location than this one if it is peace and relaxation you are after.

Set amongst the mountains the villa is perfect for children and families

We actually found ourselves wanting to stay in rather than go out, day times were spent around and in the pool and evenings around the

bar b q.

Maureen was friendly and able to advise whenever asked.

"Thank you Maureen for a fantastic break."

Great holiday, a few niggles

  • 3 of 5

Fabulous rural location, good villa in need of some TLC. Owner lives in the grounds with 4 dogs, which is not everyone's cup of tea if you want solitude. That said, our boys loved the dogs, and the pool! WiFi a great help, and Maureen a font of knowledge on all things local. Real Spain!

Owner's Response: I am surprised by this misleading review. ‘Casa Maja’ is set in 1200 square metres of private grounds and garden. I live next door on a separate 500 square metre plot completely enclosed by a high fence. This is not visible from the villa, nor vice versa. My dogs do not have free access to the villa grounds and would not be allowed near the villa unless ‘invited’ - as was the case here by the children. Had their parents indicated at any time that they were not happy about this, the dogs would have been removed immediately. Guests’ privacy is strictly respected. However, as with all villas, the swimming pool has to be chemically maintained every couple of days and cleaned at least twice a week in hot weather and the plants and garden are maintained as necessary. The gardener and I try to do these tasks when guests are out, although that is not always possible. I am delighted that the boys enjoyed their holiday here and their parents’ comment “A lovely villa in an idyllic setting”, in my ‘Visitors’ Book’ is much appreciated, so I can only imagine that the afterthought review for Owners Direct was perhaps down to the ‘unkind weather’ the family unfortunately experienced during their stay.

Location

From the Owner

'Casa Maja', which means 'House Beautiful', instantly cast its spell over me from its position overlooking a valley bright and lush with orange groves to the mountains. This was the answer to my dreams of moving to Spain. Spain had bewitched me during holidays long before with its high spirited and generous people, always ready for fun and fiesta - like the Irish! - with its music and dance, its exotic landscapes and historic castles, its ancient monasteries and stunning modern architecture, with its blue skies and endless golden beaches, with all its colourful traditions. Peaceful and private, in 'Casa Maja' I had found the perfect place for a writer - and the perfect paradise for friends and guests to holiday.
