High Trees is a large luxury holiday home in a quiet West Sussex village, rated as 5 Star by visit Britain (as recently as Feb '16). We are very near to the beautiful city of Chichester, to the Goodwood race track and motor circuit and gorgeous West Wittering beach. We have 8 luxurious en-suite double bedrooms. There is a large open plan space including dining room, superbly appointed kitchen and conservatory. High Trees is set in ¾ acre of private landscaped garden which includes a tennis court and outdoor hot tub. You can cater for yourselves, or if you prefer we can arrange for caterers to look after you. They can use the separate fully appointed catering kitchen for that very purpose. High Trees works perfectly for a family holiday, as accomodation for wedding guests, for a business retreat or for a special occasion. Whatever your reason for staying with us, we’re confident you’ll have a special stay.

High Trees is owned by Gavin and Claire Mitchell. We bought the house in 2010 when we moved into the area from London. We live nearby to High Trees and still have to pinch ourselves that we live in such a beautiful part of the country.

Amazing house to celebrate our anniversary

We were looking for a large house to celebrate our special occasion near Goodwood races. Plenty to choose from in the area but what clinched it for us was: each room had an ensuite, each room was spacious and decorated to a high standard, the kitchen was open planned and led onto the patio/garden, plus the house had a dining room capable of sitting the 14 of us comfortably for dinner on the first night. Gavin recommended a local caterer (Susie) and she, and her waitresses, did an excellent job. The garden/play room and lounge give ample options should you need a bit of space or peace and quiet. The house was also very well equipped with everything seemingly thought of. The separate kitchen for the caterers was an excellent idea which meant the chef wasn't in the way during the drinks and canapes before the meal. Location is also decent with a local shop and a nice pub within a 5 minute walk. Those happy to walk 10 minutes down Watery Lane will find the Richmond Arms which has a great atmosphere and amazing food. All in all an excellent property which made our 20th anniversary weekend just that bit more special

High trees is a really lovely house and we had a wonderful stay. The size of the house and the fact that all rooms were ensuite worked perfectly for our large family group. i'm sure we'll be back again for the next big family birthday celebration!

BEAUTIFUL PROPERTY

Our family of 8 adults, one teenager and 6 children stayed at Hightrees House over the recent Bank Holiday weekend. I cannot praise this property highly enough. It was everything as described in the details - and more!

For a family with children ranging from 1 to 7 years it was just what we wanted.

The grounds are amazing and felt very safe and child friendly. We made full use of the facilities, including the tennis court and the hot tub.

The house itself was very clean and kept to a very high standard. Everything was provided for - including a wonderful coffee machine, towels, tea towels, plenty of utensils, cutlery and crockery.

The children's play room was very well stocked with enough to keep them amused had the weather been inclement.

The bedrooms and ensuites were luxurious as were the beds and bed linen.

Gavin, the owner, was extremely helpful throughout the whole booking process - nothing was too much trouble.

We didn't stray far from the property because everything was provided for and it seemed a shame not to make every use of the facilities. However, Hightrees is situated in a lovely village with a pub, village shop and farm shop within walking distance. The pub - The Fox & Hounds offer a lovely Sunday carvery.

West Wittering beach is also worth a visit, especially with young children and is approximately 25 minutes drive from Funtingdon.

We booked Hightrees for a 40th birthday celebration and Gavin was able to recommend a caterer for a special celebration meal. I would highly recommend her if that is something you require.

I cannot fault Hightrees House. A wonderful, luxurious property which I would highly recommend. We had a wonderful weekend and wouldn't hesitate to return for any future family gatherings.

Sussex Heaven

This was our second stay at High Tree's (and it wont be our last!). As a large group we are made to feel extremely welcome and we all say that this place is our "home away from home". The owners make everything perfect and nothing is too much trouble. I had doubts about writing this review, as quite frankly I don't want everyone to know how great this place is, in case we cant get a space next year!

Great house and location

High Trees is a beautiful house, really roomy with a relaxed yet special feel to it. All the bedrooms and ensuites are fabulous, as are the communal rooms; stylish and comfortable.

We ate a great meal in the local pub, and were very impressed with the caterers Gavin recommended. I would stay here again in a flash.

High Trees is situated in a stunning area with so much to see and do right on the door step. The ancient walled city of Chichester has much to offer with excellent shops, the Pallant House Gallery and the Chichester Festival theatre, one of the United Kingdom’s flagship theatres. We are a stone’s throw from Goodwood House and the Goodwood estate which hosts the world famous Goodwood Revival (September), the Goodwood Festival of Speed (July) and Glorious Goodwood (July) The award winning West Wittering Beach, the South Downs National park and National Trust property, Uppark House, are all within easy reach.

There is a spacious open plan entertaining space with a glass roofed atrium, a dining room that seats 16, a snug and a large sitting room, all of which open onto the garden. The dining room also works perfectly as a board room and adjoining it is a fully equipped office should you join us for an away-day or business retreat.
