Two bright and spacious comfortably furnished apartments located on the quiet edge of the fishing town of Olhão, with wonderful views overlooking the Ria Formosa and out to Faro. Close to all amenities, and adjacent to the new 5 star Real Marina Hotel and spa, only a short walk down the palm lined Marina front takes you towards the historic Markets and the centre of the fishing town of Olhão. The hustle & bustle of the old town with its many cafés, bars and restaurants, local fishermen taking out brightly painted traditional fishing boats, Olhão always has something for you to see, with many shaded seating areas for you to stop and enjoy the view and soak up the atmosphere.

Apartment 3D is located on the third floor and has a spacious lounge/diner with two comfortable sofas, dining table for 6, wide screen TV with Portuguese television and English channels, Wi-fi and an ipod docking station. Sliding double doors lead out on to the private balcony with wonderful views out to the Ria Formosa, and seating for 6. The kitchen is well equipped and has all modern appliances including microwave, dishwasher and washer-drier. The laundry room has a rack for drying clothes and houses the central vacuuming unit. Both the main bedroom and second bedroom can be a large double or twin, and have generous fitted wardrobes with remote interior light, bedside tables with lamps, and a dressing table with mirror over. The main bedroom is complete with an en-suite bathroom (shower over). The single bedroom has a fitted wardrobe, a standard size single bed and bedside table with lamp. There is a spacious family shower room.

Coast/Beach:

Whilst Olhão town itself does not offer a beach, it is a gateway to the famous "Ilhas" of Armona , Culatra and Farol, which provide beautiful deserted sandy beaches. Reached by both water taxi, which is available from almost right outside the apartments in the busier season, and regular ferry services all year round, which are about a 10 minute walk down the beautiful Marina front. The nearest Ilha is Armona and is about 10-15 minutes away. The main Ilhas have cafés and restaurants.

Travel:

The main airport for the Algarve is Faro International Airport, and there are regular flights to Faro from all over Europe. Many operators offer good flight deals to the Algarve right throughout the year. Situated only 20 minutes form Faro airport, a taxi to the Pure Algarve apartments should be around €20.00. Cafés, restaurants, beaches and supermarkets are all within walking distance, the hire of a car is not essential unless you wish to discover the beautiful Algarve countryside.

Distances:

Olhão is only 9km from Faro, and there are frequent bus and train services, the stations are only a 10-15 minute walk form the apartment, offering services to many of the historic towns of the Algarve. The historical town of Tavira is 25km to the East which is about 15 minutes by car, and if you do choose to hire a car, the A22 Via Infante motorway is only 10 minutes dive to access the rest of the Algarve.

Further Details:

The Eastern Algarve is the lesser known area of the Algarve,and for this reason remains largely unspoilt. A near perfect climate and a beautiful coastline offers miles of unspoilt beaches,and the inland hills offer an insight into the old Algarve. The friendliness of the people,the mix of cultures and the local architecture all show influences of the Greeks,Romans and Muslims who populated the Algarve before the Portuguese conquest in 1249.

Traditionally a fishing village,Olhão is famous for seafood and this can be experienced by a trip to one of the many wonderful seafood restaurants,or to see the famous fish market in the historic buildings on the sea front at the heart of Olhão. The hustle and bustle of the old town with its many cafés,bars and restaurants is just a short walk form the apartment. Venture a little further through the winding narrow streets, and you will discover a wealth of shops,boutiques and a few more cafés tucked away to the side.

Olhão Marina is bursting full of yachts,motorboats and traditional fishing vessels,and provide a perfect backdrop to an evening stroll,or a brisk morning walk to get fresh bread and a newspaper. There is always something to see-with many palm shaded seating areas you can stop and enjoy the view,soaking up the atmosphere.

Local shops,bakeries,supermarkets,banks,cafés,restaurants and bars are all within easy walking distance. There is a regular market every Saturday morning at the markets on the seafront,and there is a wonderful selection of fresh fruits,vegetables and fresh fish. Markets in other towns occur on other days of the week.

  • Notes on accommodation: These lovely apartments are light, airy and fresh, all furniture is new, of good quality and comfort, and all of the beds are English Orthopaedic. Linen and towels - including beach towels - are provided. A filter coffee machine and hair drier are provided for guest use. Each of the rooms have separately controllable air-conditioning/heating, and electric security black out shutters. There is a safe in each of the larger bedrooms. Smoke detectors have been fitted. There is lift and stair access to the apartments, and these also service the roof top terrace and pool area, which has a shower area and toilet. We also provide a cool bag and ice blocks, beach umbrella and beach towels for trips to the beach, which should help cut down on you luggage weight. Sorry, but pets are not allowed. Both apartments are strictly Non-Smoking. The apartments are available to be let singly or together. Outside: The apartments have a good sized private balcony with dining table & comfortable chairs - enough for 6, with uninterrupted views of the Ria Formosa, perfect for a morning breakfast or an evening drink as you watch the sun go down. The shared roof top terrace with pool offers stunning panoramic views out to Faro and the Ria Formosa. We provide sun loungers for guest use.
