2 Bedroom Cottage Set in a Rural Location, with the Emphasis on Quality and Comfort

Daisie Cottage is a light and airy detached, two bedroom cottage with great views across pastureland to the Malvern Hills. It has many character features, including flagstone window sills, sloping ceilings, oak flooring and thumb-latched doors. It has been furnished to a very high standard and is very well-equipped: spacious yet cosy and private. With lots to do and see in the area, you can choose an active holiday or to simply totally relax and unwind.

A warm welcome from the very helpful owner and a lovely hospitality tray awaited us. The owner's house is just across the path. Having the key in a box with a security code outside was great for us walkers as we didn't have to worry about losing the key.The advertising had been accurate and photographs informative. What you saw was what you got! clean, spacious, wellthought out purpose built accommodation. An open plan ground floor, two very comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms and a downstairs loo. the cottage has a small outdoor, enclosed patio area. There were plenty of leaflets about local attractions. You can walk to the Birds of Prey Centre which is well worth a visit to watch - amongst the 'professionals' - the young birds in training. Enthusiastic clapping encouraged! Cities and towns are not far away but the walking is marvellous. May Hill is close by and two wonderful pubs The Yew Tree and The Glass House both with excellent food, wines and real ale. The little town of Newent , a mile down the lane, provides all day to day needs and a regular bus service to Gloucester and Ross on Wye. However unless people were pretty keen walkers you would need to have a car and there is of course a parking space off road for the cottage. Just take care backing out into the lane. I would happily recommend a stay at Daisie Cottage for a holiday to anyone.

There is a wealth of trails to explore and a selection of books and maps is provided for guests' use. There are also lots of things to see and do in the area for couples and families: historic buildings, castles, museums, gardens, animal and activity centres, golf courses, fishing lakes, theatres and plenty of local entertainment, including the Cheltenham Festivals and Malvern Garden Shows. Guests are also able to book a range of treatments if required, including Sports, Therapeutic and De-Stress Massage, Indian Head Massage and Clinical Hypnotherapy. All treatments are subject to additional cost and dependent upon availability. Please enquire at the time of booking.


The nearest beach is Weston-Super-Mare, approximately 1 hour's drive away. The beautiful Gower coast is approximately 2 hour's drive away and is great for surfing. There are activity lakes at Cirencester Water Park, offering jet-skiing, windsurfing and water-skiing, approximately 1 hour away.


As Daisie Cottage is in a rural location, the use of a car is essential.

Daisie Cottage is approximately 3 miles from Junction 3 of the M50 and 10 miles from Junction 10 of the M5.

Newent town centre is reasonably served with buses and a taxi service is also available.

Nearest railway stations: Ledbury (8 miles); Gloucester (10 miles).

Nearest airports are Bristol, Birmingham and Cardiff, all approximately 1 hour's drive away.


Daisie Cottage is approximately 1 mile from Newent town centre. The pretty market towns of Ledbury & Ross-on-Wye, each with a variety of shops and restaurants, are approximately 15 minutes' drive away. Numerous cycle trails and beautiful walks in the Forest of Dean, Cotswolds & Malvern Hills can be accessed within a 30 minute drive. Cheltenham, Gloucester, Tewkesbury & Hereford are 30-40 minutes' drive away. Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff are approximately 1 hour's drive away.

1 mile from the centre of Newent, Daisie Cottage is near to a range of shops, supermarkets, butchers, banks, hairdressers, Chinese and Indian take-aways, a fish and chip shop, a Post Office and medical centre.

There are a range of pubs and restaurants within a short drive and the nearest pub is approximately 1 mile away.

The city of Gloucester, with its famous Cathedral, historic docks and Gloucester Quays shopping centre, is within a 30 minute drive. Gloucester also boasts a dry ski slope, go-karting, climbing and 10 pin bowling centres.

The beautiful regency spa town of Cheltenham is only a little further away and is excellent for shopping.

There are leisure centres at Newent, Ledbury, Ross-on-Wye, Gloucester and Cheltenham, which also has an open-air lido open during the summer months. There are a variety of local pay-and-play golf courses within 15 minutes' drive and several day ticket fishing lakes.

  • Notes on accommodation: Oil fired central heating and electricity are included in the rental cost. Parking space outside. Regret no pets and no smoking in the cottage. Outside: The property has a private gravelled courtyard garden offering wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. There is a large outdoor dining table and chairs and a traditional charcoal barbeque. Outside lights. A lockable shed can be provided for the storage of bikes and pushchairs and there is also a welly store. Utility Room: The utility room houses the boiler and downstairs wc. The understairs cupboard has a vacuum cleaner, ironing board & iron, clothes airer, shoe rack, washing basket, mop & bucket. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Rental includes bed linen, towels and tea towels, with weekly change of linen.
