About Michele Jefferies

Richard is a Yorkshire lad and I am from Scotland, we purchased Beckwith farm in 2006 and have upgrade and redeveloped the original farm buildings allowing us to convert the old dairy into our holiday cottage.

Why Michele Jefferies chose North Yorkshire

We immediately fell in love with the location of Beckwith farm, it is in open countryside yet only 5 minutes drive to the centre of Harrogate, with all its wonderfully diverse attractions.

Squeak cottage was originally a dairy - used for bottling the milk produced in the adjacent barn.

In the last 6 years we have replaced and upgraded all our farm buildings which house our pedigree irish Connemara Ponies.

What makes this cottage unique

It is such a pleasure to be away from the madding crowd but conveniently close to all amenities :)

We often walk into Harrogate(30 mins) downhill to enjoy and evening out at the theatre/cinema or for a meal in the vast array of quality eating houses you can then get a taxi back for £6-10.

RHS gardens and Bettys famous tea-rooms are a 15 minute easy walk from Squeak cottage, as is access onto the Nidderdale Way.

Outside: Adjoining the kitchen (through french doors) is a private patio area with table, chairs and barbeque and views towards Harrogate. Front lawn level grass area. Large parking area - suitable for larger vehicles and trailers. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All Bedding and towels are provided on a weekly basis, fresh towels and bedding can be provided mid week at an extra charge. The property is cleaned weekly. Other: Outside storage for bikes, boots and whatever other equipment you may wish to bring.

A wonderful stay!

I cannot recommend this property enough! Beautifully decorated, comfortable, luxurious and immaculately clean. The well equipped kitchen was particularly helpful. The owners were extremely friendly and our toddler loved being introduced to the horses on the farm. Very well located in a quiet countryside setting a short distance from Harrogate. If we are visiting the area again we will definitely be staying at Squeak Cottage.

Simply The Best

My wife and I stayed in Squeak Cottage for a week at the end of August 2014. From the moment we walked into the cottage, we felt relaxed, comfortable and at home. The cottage is exceptional - it is beautifully furnished, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. It was just what we needed after an extremely stressful year! Location wise, it was ideal for us - so near to Harrogate and RHS Harlow Carr and yet away from the hustle and bustle. We were able to relax and thoroughly enjoy the peace and quiet. We will definitely stay here again as soon as we can and we would recommend it to anyone wishing to have the best of both worlds, i.e. super cottage in great location.

Squeak Cottage

Immaculate cottage with all mod cons. Very cosy with wood burner and underfloor heating which was very welcome on the cooler stormy nights we experienced. Very friendly owners who made us welcome.

Just a couple of minor points - swing doors to en-suite were quite heavy and noisy and a freezer compartment in the fridge would have been beneficial. A few dishcloths and hand towel in the kitchen would be welcome.

Would definitely return and recommend to others as a great base for Harrogate and district.

Great place!

A great cottage in an idyllic location. Ideal for visiting a variety of Yorkshire towns and tourist attractions. Although in a very quiet country location it was easy to walk into Harrogate and back. There are two pubs serving meals within easy walking distance too. The cottage is beautifully furnished and there is a log burner for chilly evenings. If returning to the area we would definitely book this cottage again and certainly recommend it. We loved it!
