Stylish and Luxury Beach Cottage at Lunan Bay 'Stunning Cottage and Location'

Updated: 20-Oct-2016
Cottage at Award Winning Lunan Bay Beach, Lunan Bay, Angus, Scotland - Peaceful Stunning Location In Close Proximity To Beach With Fabulous Interior And Quality Fittings

Foremans Cottage is a stylish yet accessible retreat on the beach at Lunan Bay. It has been featured in many interiors and lifestyle magazines and is fitted out to a high standard by its owners. The cottage has been described as 'property nirvana' by journalists as it features a host of features such as a boudoir style master bedroom, log burner, open fire, drench shower, and aga. There is a large open plan area downstairs which is painted in calming soothing colours, and a mix of old and new pieces, giving the property the feel that you are in someones home not a rental property. The grounds are fairly extensive and mostly laid to lawn with decked areas for entertaining around the cottage. There is a barbecue and ample parking and disabled access. The accessible yet peaceful location makes it a great base for visiting other parts of Scotland or for spending a holiday walking the beach and relaxing. Stunning cottage in a stunning location

We love Foremans Cottage we will definitely be back. A real home from home and a chance to chill without having to drive for hours.

Our kids and dog loved the beach (and so did we). We didn't really leave Lunan as the weather was Fantastic.

Family holiday

  • 5 of 5

Our weeks stay at the cottage was a real treat. With French doors around the property opening on to decking to catch the best of the sun throughout the day, to a stretch of beach lined with sand dunes that was our own for most of the holiday we settled in very easily. Day trips included Dunnottar Castle, taking in the sights at fowlsheugh - crowds of nesting seabirds perched on high cliffs - a stroll round Stonehaven, and the most delicious seafood restaurant, The Creel Inn, Catterline, our cottage was ideally located. With three good sized bedrooms, the three bathroom facilities worked well for everyone, as did the open plan layout downstairs. Would happily re-book and recommend to family and friends.

Stunning Property and location

  • 5 of 5

Our experience at Lunan Cottage, was outstanding as we arrived to a beautiful cottage, with stunning outdoor facilities and easy to perfect sandy beach.

The property facilities, finish and welcoming feeling was perfect for our family holiday. All 3 bedrooms are great size and downstairs area was used to hold a family meal. The open fire was prepared on arrival, and the bowl of chocolate was a lovely touch after a long travel journey.

We will be using this property for all visited to the local area in the future, and the service + communication prior to arrival makes the whole process stress free.

Thank you for the experience in your property, and we will be back soon. James

after arriving in a blizzard and train delays what a lovely welcome it was to arrive at cottage too a warm and lovely place ,the aga made the the place so warm on our entrance and a coal fire all ready to light we were all cosy in no time,we had the log burner too to light if needed. i was a party of seven with the 3 loos 2 showers and a free standing bath we all had adequate space during our time in this wonderful dwelling. the beach was minutes away ,and just outside the main door was a small salmon fishing river. we had a choice of 4 entrances to decking areas with table and chairs to see the sun rise in the morning and go down in the evening.this is truly a lovely place to getaway from it all, my only negative was i could not stay longer! 5* plus

I want to retire here!

We have been to Foremans Cottage every year for the past 5 years. When we pass Arbroath's sea front football stadium we know we're only a few miles away and the sense of anticipation takes over. This gets even better when we head down the lane through Inverkeilor. This has to be the best holiday cottage in Scotland as far as location is concerned. You are literally 5 minutes out of the door to the beach, which rarely has anyone on it and is one of the most beautiful in Britain. Most days are spent running on the beach in the morning, playing on the beach in the afternoon and walking on the beach in the evening. Eating tends to fit in around these trips. We have a dog and she is the most chilled ever when we go there. The cottage is tastefully furnished and has more than enough space for our family of 4 plus dog but I guess it would feel a little tight with 3 adult couples, particularly in the lounge area. David and the cleaner/housekeeper are more than attentive and there's always a fire made up ready for our arrival. Arrange to have Tesco deliver your groceries and, like us, you'll never have to venture far during your stay. That said, there's some brilliant places to see and things to do in the locality but for us, we just love Lunan Bay. A wonderful place.

Not quite as it seems

  • 3 of 5

A very well appointed property - previously owned by an interior designer and it shows - however we arrived in October to find the central heating had been disconnected!!! The aga kept the kitchen nice and warm and there was a logburner which kept the lounge nice and cosy. However this means after a day out you arrive back to a cold house. A plug in radiator was inadequate for the master bedroom and clicked all night. The two upstairs rooms were without heat. There was a 2 ring portable stove in the hall cupboard which I strongly suspect is for use in the summer so they can turn the aga off! Also be warned, the cottage sleeps 6 but it is a small cottage and the lounge area only has a 2 seater sofa and one chair. Such a shame as it spoils what is an otherwise lovely cottage close to a superb beach, and therefore only gets 3 stars from me.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your constructive comments, it is always good to hear if there is any way we can improve on what is already, as you say, a well appointed property. We are really pleased that you can see that we have worked hard to constantly maintain the interior design, standard and style of this traditional cottage. We are sorry that you were disappointed with the heating that was installed prior to our ownership. Since your stay in October however, the whole cottage has now had a full central heating overhaul in all of the rooms, including the upstairs bedrooms. Once again we apologise if the previous heating system spoilt your stay. With regards to the Aga, for future reference, we never turn it off even in the summer months and the 2 ring stove you mentioned is merely there for added convenience only should anybody want to use it. We are delighted you found the beaches superb and hope our comments will help you gain the confidence to book with us again in this stunning location. Thank you.
