About the property

Townhouse in old Antibes . Quiet pedestrianise street 5 mins walk to sandy beaches

Available for winter lets. Contact for prices.

This charming renovated town house is located on a pedestrianised street, within the medieval walls of old Antibes.

On the ground and first floor, there are two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

- One bedroom with twin beds and en-suite shower room.

- The other with a double bed and a separate bathroom, with bath.

On the third floor, is the kitchen/living area which is open plan with sofa bed, chairs and coffee table. It also has a dining table and chairs. There is a modern fitted kitchen area with large fridge freezer, oven/microwave and hob. Wooden stairs lead to the fourth floor sun-room and pretty terrace. The perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine or meal with views over the roof-tops of old Antibes. There is a table, chairs, parasol and a small barbecue.

Our home has been sympathetically decorated using Provençal fabrics and French fruit wood furniture.

Within strolling distance of this picturesque street are local sandy beaches, the Marché Provençal- a daily bustling food market. The fortified Port Vauban- where luxury yachts and traditional fishing boats jostle for position. The house is perfectly located, close to the abundance of interesting shops, cafés and great restaurants.

Our house is 20 mins by taxi from Nice airport (or a convenient express bus ride). Antibes rail station is 12 mins walk and gives access to the coastal rail links, where you can travel to St Tropez, Nice Cannes, Monaco or even across the Itallian boarder for lunch. You can also visit the Medieval hill villages of Grasse - home of international perfume house and museum. St Paul de Vence-a fortified hill top village with the Matisse chapel. Biot - famous for its hand-blown glass.

Disappointing and unclean

  • 1 of 5

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay here.

The house was very dirty, there was a thick layer of dust over everything. There were a number of dead insects when we arrived and we had to deal with cockroaches every day.

The shower leaked in to the downstairs bedroom.

It was very noisy throughout the night and difficult to sleep.

Antibes itself is really nice so we spent most days out of the property for as long as possible.

Owner's Response: To Owners Direct This guest to my house did not contact me until late on the day after arrival(Sunday evening). I immediately contacted both cleanng agency and plumbers. The cleaning responded immediately and would have gone in to reclean but when I asked Mrs Hydes when would be convenient to them ,I was told that she had already cleaned and rejected this offer. I had been in my house until 4 days prior to their arrival on June 10th and the house was not very dusty then, and my cleaners,a reputable agency from Juan les Pins did 3 hrs cleaning before the Hydes arrival and a check over on Saturday am ,before their arrival. As regards the cockroaches ,.It had been a very hot and humid weather and I had a specialist in to treat for any as they tend to come out at this time of the year. I had phoned the Hydes to explain this in advance so they had knowledge of the situation. The Hydes failed to respond to phone call from plumber ,cleaners and myself. The plumbers got no response and had to resort to knocking on the door to assess any problems. My advertisement is as accurate as possible, but these houses are at least 300 years old and it is quite hard to give a picture of ,what most people find charming about the area in old Antibes.

So tranquil

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place! It was so convenient for everything we needed and such a pretty location. We immediately felt immersed in the provencal life. Tastefully decorated, with every thing you needed for a great stay. We ate out every night, as the cafes and restaurants we visited were good value and just a walk away. We enjoyed walking round the harbour after meals and stopping off for a little aperitif, before turning in. We recommend Le Brulot restaurant, so friendly and welcoming. The pictures do not do this house justice! We would highly reccommend; a little jem!
