Quiet luxury apartment near Santa Eulalia - Secluded forest location, five minutes to Santa Eulalia town and the beac

El Observatorio is secluded, the highest dwelling on the hill, looking out to sea and not its self overlooked. It was built for a respected astronomer and is now the home of a businessman/art collector. The views are stunning. El Observatorio offers easy access to Santa Eulalia village and marina (3km), Ibiza City (14km). The beaches and coves of the North East of the island can all be reached in less than 30 minutes. "Bam Buddha Grove" is a ten minute drive, Las Salinas beach is about 40 minutes away as are 'Blue Marlin' Beach Club and the 'hot spots' at the South. Santa Eulalia is an ideal location for gastronomes, guests will find some of the finest peasant food and elegant dining in Europe within a ten km drive. "El Observatorio" is ideal for families. It is unlikely to suit serious Night Owls and Party people.

I came to live in Ibiza almost 20 years ago and have never regretted a minute of my time here.

After a comprehensive business career in the UK - I now wonder how I had time to chair a lively SME. In recent years, I've painted, written, farmed and collected all forms of art (by the way, please look after my collection whilst you're here) as well as indulged my main passion, food particularly cooking it, writing about it and entertaining my friends.

If you would like, I will cook occasionally for you, with pleasure, I can handle likes and dislikes but I'm not familiar with faith based food or able to cook for people with allergies, sorry.

Incredible hospitality

My friends and I stayed at El Observatory for 2 weeks and can honestly say we had an amazing time. Not only was the villa lovely, the main thing has to be Carl. He was very accommodating, warm and welcoming from the second we arrived. The Villa was in impeccable condition and the amenities were plentiful and our every need and want catered for.

I would highly recommend being a guest of Carl's at El Observatory and will definitely be returning in the near future.

The apartment is in a perfect position. There are just two neighbours whose homes are about 400m away. The views are stunning, the finest in Santa Eulalia. It is quiet and surrounded by forest yet only 3km from town. "All the fun of the fair" that Ibiza offers is far enough away not to be intrusive and yet within a €30 taxi ride if you don't want to drive. Ibiza city is about 14km away.

The owner has many local contacts able to provide guests with special interest experiences, for example Boating both sail and motor, Yoga, Spa, Diving, Walking, Cycling, Jeep Safaris and many others. Please ask on arrival.


Ibiza offers an infinite variety of beaches that range from the wide sandy bay of Santa Eulalia (5 minutes by car) to beautiful isolated rocky coves in the North (Pou des Leo can be reached in 25 minutes) Cala Xaracca and Benirass are barely 30 minutes drive time whilst the 'white hot' south island "glamour beaches" can be reached in around 40 minutes (allowing for road conditions).


A car is absolutely essential for guests at El Observatorio. Please be advised to book well in advance from your home country; in 2014 there was a shortage and prices rocketed. The owner is able to arrange car hire with a highly reputable local firm on request. Ibiza airport is some 17km from Santa Eulalia. A typical taxi fare to El Observatorio is c.€35/40 depending on the number of travellers and the number of bags carried.

Santa Eulalia village 3km.

Salinas beaches 25km.

Benirass beach 15km.

Further Details:

Ibiza today is so well documented, the best advice is to look for what particularly interests you on the internet. Santa Eulalia has all the facilities of a thriving modern community, in fact it is the richest "parish" per capita in the whole of Spain! There are for example some ten banks, including Barclay's, four or five supermarkets, a local produce market, boutiques, a vast array of restaurants to suit all tastes and bars of every description. The marina with its dockside dining, bars and boutiques is noted for being one of the most relaxed and stylish in the Western Mediterranean.

The home owner is also fortunate to have a motor yacht skipper's licence. He is able to charter boats of up to 15m and conduct groups guests on 'skippered' outings. There is no better way to experience the beauty of Ibiza's coastline than from the water or in it! There are exclusive beachfront restaurants in certain secluded coves too and boat picnics can be arranged. Please ask for details.

Private airport pick ups can be arranged at extra cost c.€50.00 each way.

A reachable telephone number and/or cell phone number MUST be included in the enquiry otherwise I am likely to regard the request as a "phishing" trip.

Deposit 50%. Balance in full six weeks prior to arrival.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday, by discussion, it may be varied. Please arrive after 16.00 hrs otherwise we will not have had time to prepare for you. Similarly we ask you to be away not later than 11.00 hrs on departure day.

Notes on prices:
A 50% deposit is payable on booking, the balance becomes payable six weeks prior to arrival.

PayPal accepted (3% booking fee)

A €2000.00 security deposit will be required on arrival. A cheque made out to the owner will be held securely and returned uncashed providing that no dilapidation has occurred.

  • Notes on accommodation: For more information click on www.ibizahomestay.com The house contains an extensive collection of beautiful paintings and other works of art. The owner hopes that holidaymakers will enjoy his collection and particularly that they will respect it. Regrettably I am unable to accommodate singles groups under 65 years of age! Outside: El Observatorio has a 'mountain' garden stocked mainly with local flora; cactus, pines, shrubs, and juniper trees. To the side are terraces containing orange trees and fronting the house, to the access road, is a variety of local flowering trees and shrubs. The ovoid shaped pool is not heated but 'swimmable' from May onward (20 degrees or so and by August it is up to 28 degrees in normal years). At pool level the natural stone flagged terraces more than quadruple the 'liveable' area of the house. There is a 'folly' in the form of a domed temple with an opium bed, sun loungers and a shady 'chill out' corner. An external dining table for four people is located under a shaded section of the terrace. The pool suitehas its own private entrance, opening off the generous parking area that provides spaces for at least three cars Utility Room: A laundry is located at lower ground level and comprises a modern washing machine and separate tumble dryer. An iron and ironing board are provided. There are work surfaces and outside there is a small 'drying terrace'. There is a washing line on the roof. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen, towels and beach towels are provided. Other: On the terrace there is a pool, and a 'folly' in the form of a temple shading an 'opium bed'. A cool 'chill out' is set to the side. It can be fitted with a "softplay" floor on request. The terrace has a dining table and is ideal for 'al fresco' dining
