Approached via an original Pack Horse Bridge and beautifully situated by a babbling brook, this charming 16th Century stone cottage offers a truly delightful retreat to return to after exploring the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Tastefully decorated and furnished , Little Brook Cottage has a wealth of charm and character. Dine alfresco, on the east facing rear terraced patio, or relax in the spacious lounge with its cosy multifuel stove. Lying midway between Skipton and Pateley Bridge the village of Hebden which has a pub serving meals and village shop/PO, is only 1.5 miles from Grassington with it's lovely selection of quality shops, restaurants & pubs and is host to Dickensian Weekends in December and various cultural events during the year. Please check the availability calandar for the dates you're interested in as I always keep it upto date.

About Mike Gatward

I live in Wakefield, West Yorkshire with my wife Carol.

We both work full time, but get up to the cottage when we can to spend some chill time and keep on top of the little jobs. We have made many friends in and around the village and may well live there some time in the future.

Why Mike Gatward chose North Yorkshire

We bought the cottage in July 2004 having had a great holiday in the area earlier in the year. As soon as I walked in the front door, I knew it was the right property, it just had that warm feeling about it. For me, it perfectly encapulates village life without being too remote from the conveniences us 'townies' are accustomed to !.

What makes this cottage unique

There is just something about the cottage that lets you leave all your troubles and anxieties outside the front door. People just seem to relax as soon as they get there ! Every season has it's own attractions. I think our favourite is probably winter (probably because that's when we can get there most). A cosy night in front of the open fire - can't be beaten. I also like the fact that we can walk to the local pub, tearoom and Post Office. It's important to support local businesses.

Great location, cottage and owners

Perfect spot for accessing the surrounding delights, plus Hebden, with its great pub and fantastic Old School Tearooms is spot on too!

Cosy living space with open fire, spacious kitchen and extension, huge main bedroom and modern bathroom.

Owners are brilliant, will definitely stay here again availability permitting.

A wonderful pre-Christmas Christmas

We had the pleasure of appending a few days at this very tastefully decorated cottage. It was a pre-Christmas get together for three of us with our 2 dogs. (dogs were pre-arranged with the owner)

It was perfect in every way. The porch into the cottage was ideal for drying off the dogs before we let them into the house. We had taken plenty of doggy towels and the porch was the perfect place to store them.

The kitchen was immaculate and so well equipped. Everything you could possibly want, although we didn’t do any cooking during our stay! It was our intention to spend time in the local public house, but the Tea Rooms did scrummy food and we ate most of our meals there, even breakfast! it was only a short walk away.

We visited a few places of interest during the day and spent the evenings in the conservatory enjoying fine wines, port, and cheeses, before climbing the stairs to the very comfortable beds.

I cannot fault this cottage in any way. The owners are very easy to communicate with and that helped to make our stay very relaxed and refreshing. It certainly eased us into the Christmas celebrations with a tranquil attitude. I do hope we will be allowed to stay again, when the weather is warmer and we can enjoy the patio outside.

A fantastic week in the Dales

We spent a lovely week in littlebrook cottage, and would not hesitate to recommend it as a great base to explore the Yorkshire Dales. The warm Aga in the kitchen beside the conservatory persuaded us to spend most of our time in that room rather than the living room. There are lots of interesting walking and cycling routes starting from right outside your door. We have stayed in a variety of accommodation in and around Grassington, and this did not disappoint. Within walking distance of Grassington, Bursall and Linton, the local pubs and restaurants can be enjoyed. A special mention for the Clarendon Hotel which provides excellent food on your doorstep.

Littlebrook cottage

A really enjoyable stay in a lovely spacious cottage in the heart of the fantastic Yorkshire countryside.

The cottage is is in a quiet village spot but you can walk into the countryside from the front door. Grassington is only a mile or so away, as is the river Wharfe. We had a lovely time there. We can heartily recommend Littlebrook cottage and we will certainly consider going back.

A delightful place to spend a week.

The cottage was "home from home" and the aga made for a cosy stay, even in August!!

It was very clean, comfortable and in a quiet location.

We had come for a walking holiday, and this was a great base.

The tea rooms in Hebden are to be recommended, particularly on a rainy day.
