About the property

Villa in Orebic, Peljesac Peninsula, Dalmatian Coast, Croatia - Spacious Villa On The Edge Of Orebic In A Quiet Location, 250m From Beach, 350m From Shops

The villa sits in a small, quiet, established street on the edge of Orebic. It has generous sized rooms and is tiled throughout. For the first time WiFi will be available this year bringing us into the 21st century! The large garden is well stocked with flowering shrubs and has a barbeque with outside eating area. A separate covered verandah gives shade. There is off road parking for up to three cars. The beach, in a sandy sheltered bay, is a short stroll to the bottom of the road. Shops, supermarkets and restaurants are within easy walking distance. Orebic marina with its car and passenger ferries to Korcula is a delightful 20 minutes walk away, past the beach, along the front with some of the best restaurants, through the old part of town with its old stone captains’ houses and museum.

About Sarah Robinson

Married with two children

Sarah Robinson purchased this villa in 2004

Why Sarah Robinson chose Orebić

When we came to look for property we thought we wanted something remote on an island. However, our children were in their late teens and they wanted something more accessible! We believe we found the perfect compromise: a property close to the beach, in a quiet location on the edge of town, with all the shops and restaurants you need for an enjoyable holiday and great connections to Split, Dubrovnik and most of the major islands. Perfect for day trips by car or ferry. With great walks from the house and the peninsula to explore by bicycle or car, unspoiled countryside and tremendous views. With the sea and most watersports close by, not to mention a delightful winery within walking distance. The latter sells their own wines and also the best from the area which is renowned the quality of its grapes.

Guestbook comments from the owner

'We had a lovely relaxing holiday in Orebic, enjoying beach and sea most days. The villa is lovely and spacious and catered for our needs as a family of 6... We enjoyed the garden and BBQ and having morning breakfasts outdoors. We will be recommending this villa and area to our friends & family' Ruth Daniel & Family, UK.

'What a delightful house and garden, it's been perfect... beautiful area, will be sad to leave' Stephen & Anne Bell, UK.

'Thank you so much, this is a wonderful place to stay... Budding alpine cyclists will "enjoy" the climb to the monastery... Cocktails in the tower in Korcula great fun, as were the trips across in the passenger ferry... We have enjoyed our stay immensely and will be sad to leave' Tom Cave & Family, UK

'A great week in Orebic... Your house is wonderful, finished beautifully' Neil & Lynne Robertson, UK.

Welcoming Villa in a Beautiful Location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful week in this lovely and welcoming villa. Sarah provided us with very thorough information beforehand, and left many helpful recommendations. The villa is spotless and very well equipped.

Orebic is beautifully unspoilt. We were fortunate to have wonderfully warm weather in the first week of October and enjoyed swimming and snorkelling on pretty beaches, kayaking around the islands and hiking in the beautiful countryside. We also loved our walk along the front each evening to different beachside restaurants, enjoying simple but very tasty Croatian dishes and local wines.

All in all a perfect holiday. Thank you.

Really pretty property. Clean and very well equipped inside with a range of outside areas.

We had a wonderful week in this house with our two grown up children and their partners. The house was perfect for six adults with three bathrooms and cool bedrooms. We were staying during a heatwave and so the air conditioning and fans were a godsend.

There are lots of DVDs, books and games for those down times or when you are grabbing a break from the heat which we appreciated. Unfortunately it was too hot to even be in the garden which was a shame but we spent most of our time on one of the lovely beaches.

There are two car parking spaces but the beach is close by so you don't necessarily need a car unless you want to see more of the island - which we did and didn't regret as it's beautiful.

Orebic is a great place to be based. It's got more restaurants than you could visit in a week - but we did our best! There are several little shops close by but probably it's worth using the town supermarket for the best range of things.

I found the owner really helpful beforehand with lots of advice and unfailingly prompt in her replies.

We would love to return someday and if we do we would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic villa in beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

This was a fantastic villa in a surprisingly beautiful part of the world. It's a 2hr drive from Dubrovnik but the views en route are stunning. Orebic was like an unspoilt, clean and friendly Italy - the atmosphere was friendly and fun with great water sports, amazing snorkling and fantastic eating (quality and value). The villa is brilliantly located in a quiet street but within an easy walk to the beach. Plenty of lively outdoor eating space and a great garden. Inside the villa is well appointed and very comfortable with invaluable aircon. All in all would thoroughly recommend the villa, Orebic and Croatia - thanks for a wonderful holiday.

Fantastic villa in a beautiful part of Croatia.

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic villa, very spacious and well equipped. Morning and evening terraces to maximise sunshine. Wonderful to have DVD selection and the welcome wine was a nice touch (local vineyard). Very close to beach, shops and town. If you want a break from the beach also great walking in the hills (take plenty of water). The villa doesn't have wifi, which the teens found hard, but all the local bars and cafes do, so a great excuse for an ice cream to check internet. Came away very relaxed and would recommend to anyone who wants a sunny seaside holiday.

Owner's Response: Thank you Kirsty. I'm glad you had such an enjoyable holiday and went walking in the hills. There are some spectacular views, even though it is quite a lot of effort in high summer!

Plenty of room, light and air, inside and outside

  • 5 of 5

We (4 adults and 3 children) spent two nice weeks in the heart of the summer season at this villa and it was definitely above our expectations. There were a lot of room, for having dinner altogether or for finding a private corner to read a book and relax. The villa has a lot of doors and windows looking at different sides so there were  plenty of light and fresh air, and it was comfortable inside even in the hottest days (it was up to 37 C). However, what really made us happy, it was what we had outside. There is a big veranda covered with trees and flowers so you have privacy and shade. On the back yard, there is another big table, an outside shower, sunbeds and a barbeque, in a well designed and maintained garden.

Sarah, the owner, was very helpful and responsive, there was an information folder with full description of what, where and how, with Sarah's personal comments and recommendations.

As a conclusion: Come here, you won't regret a minute!

Ideal Family Holiday Villa

  • 5 of 5

For our family this villa was absolutely ideal. It was relatively close to a great swimming beach as well as some excellent restaurants. The beach was safe for kids and the water was warm and clean. The house itself had eveything that we needed with good sized rooms and shady decks. It was very hot during our stay so the fact that upstairs has aircon is a real plus and an absolute necessity. The bbq was great and was well-used.

Overall I can highly recommend this villa for both its facilities and location.

The best beach is Trstenica, in a sandy, sheltered bay, some 250m from the villa. There are many other pebbly beaches which are good for snorkelling. The nearest pebbly shore is some 500m walking along the front. By car the nearest cove is approximately 15 minutes away. Head towards Viganj (6 km from Orebic) for the best windsurfing.

By car: Two hours from Dubrovnik airport and four hours from Split. Car hire is available from the airports or locally in Orebic.

By bus: Coaches from Dubrovnik airport to Korcula tie in with many flights in the summer. These will drop off in Orebic.

By ferry: The car ferry service is Jadrolinija with connections to Korcula (Vela Luka) and thence Orebic from Ancona, Split and Dubrovnik in the summer.

Fast Catamaran: Daily to Hvar, Split and Dubrovnik

The pretty fishing village of Loviste is 30 minute scenic drive from Orebic. Korcula, with its thirteenth century walls, is 15 minutes by ferry. Viganj, some 15 minutes by car, is a premier windsurfing area. Postup and Dingac, 10 and 30 minutes drive respectively, are two of the best wine growing areas in Croatia. Historic Ston with walls to protect its salt production is about an hour’s drive. Mostar and the islands of Hvar and Mljet (with its National Park) are accessible as day trips as are Split and Dubrovnik

Further Details:

Orebic is the largest town on the peninsula and is well serviced with a petrol station, banks, post office, supermarkets, bakeries, fruit stalls, butchers, a fish market and many small cafes and restaurants. Bikes and small boats can be hired from the front. There are numerous walks around the area and for the more adventurous there is a well marked path up the mountain behind Orebic from the Franciscan monastery above the other end of town. The monastery, built in 1470, is itself well worth a visit and has spectacular views over Korcula. Diving (including 'Try-Dives') can be arranged with a BSAC instructor on Korcula.
