Casita in Pago del Humo, Chiclana de la Frontera, Costa de la Luz, Spain - Casita Descanso Del Viajero Is In A Peaceful Location 15 Minutes Drive From The Beach
The Casita is set in tropical trees and offers 1,000 sqr mtrs of well laid out gardens to be enjoyed by guests and a further 1,000 sqr mtrs through the archway of lawns and shrubs offering total privacy and open views to the hills behind the Casita. The owners property is set well away from the Casita. We are in a quiet location 6km from the centre of Chiclana de la Frontera. It is within easy driving distance of miles of golden sands from Conil to Cadiz. The property offers unspoilt views of the hills and countryside for as far as the eye can see. The property is very private and has full use of the pool; for your use there is a Merendero under cover with seating and a table for candlelit evenings, your own barbecue, terraces and a variety of areas in sun and shade to enable you to relax and chill out. We are in easy reach of the historical town of Cadiz, Jerez is 40 minutes drive and Seville is about 110 km we also enjoy easy access to traditional white Andalucian Villages. For the visitor that enjoys nature and beautiful views this is the perfect location for bird watching as we have birds of prey nesting close by, it would also be an artists dream. There are a lot of unspoilt tracks for walking, cycling and horse riding, we also have many golf courses and a variety of water sports.

About the Owner
My husband and I have lived in Spain since 2008 and enjoy our home very much as it is set in a beautiful area with open views of the countryside and now has a well established garden with lawns and flowering shrubs. We have fallen in love with the area especially the unspoilt coastline and natural pine forests. We are outdoor people and love sporting activities. Our passion is cycling and will help guests who enjoy cycling to hire bikes and find routes. This area is ideal for cycling, walking and horse riding as there are miles of quiet roads.
In England we owned a Bakery working day and night, so this is paradise. We are animal lovers and have 2 dogs and 2 cats who are very sociable and well used to meeting our new guests.

Fantastic place to stay
Fabulous property that has all you could need and is beautifully maintained both inside and out.
The Perfect Getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this this beautiful casita. A beautiful setting in peaceful countryside (nearest rooster about half mile!). The place was spotless when we arrived, well equipped & everything working. Dianne & Barry are excellent hosts, very friendly yet respectful of your privacy they made us feel right at home. They're also very helpful, they brought us timetables for ferries and even contacted one of the whale watching tours in Terifa for us. We were also made welcome by the animals, except the rather belligerent tortoise! We had planned to do quite a bit of exploring around the area as it was our first time on the Costa de la Luz, but the irresistible pull of the pool & relaxed atmosphere put paid to that! However we did manage to some stunning beaches and also over to Cadiz which is lovely. We'd recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from it all for a few weeks! Thank you Di & Barry,10 out of 10!
Faboulas and idyllic
This was a return visit to Dianne and Barrie's wonderful Casita the addition of air conditioning, excellent wifi and the sun parasol adds to the overall holiday experience.
Ideally situated for touring, days around the pool or enjoying the numerous beaches.
The facilities are kept spotless with absolutely everything in place that you will for your holiday.
Dianne and Barrie work tirelessly to maintain a high standard, and are always happy to offer help and advice.
A fantastic location for a holiday that can be as varied as you wish.

We stayed with Dianne & Barry for the first two weeks of July 2016. The facilities were just as we expected, lovely refreshing pool on a hot day to cool down, great outside space and the barbecue area is a big plus. There are miles of sandy beaches within a 25 minute drive, our favourite was at La Fontanilla, easy parking before 11am, parasol and bed hire €15 per day. Take a 15 minute walk along the beach to the town of Conil where you will find plenty of restaurants to suit all tastes, particularly good for tapas lovers is Ole Tapas a wee bit away from the main drag but well worth finding.
If you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday then this is definitely the place, many thanks again to our wonderful hosts Dianne & Barry.

Lovely little corner of paradise
Spent a few days here whilst visiting the Sunshine Tour in nearby Vejer
The casita itself is lovely and perfect for couples just wanting to get away from it all, Located in a very peaceful area with lovely views of the Spanish countryside.
Dianne & Barrie were both very attentive to anything we needed and helped me find somewhere to watch the football!
Plenty to see in Chiclana and the beach at La Barrosa is picture perfect and ideal for a stroll in the sunshine and to enjoy a drink at one of the many beach bars there.
Weather started off badly! We seemed to have packed the british weather with us but within a few days the temperature was lovely and we enjoyed plenty of time out in the sun, by the pool and enjoying a barbecue.
All in all a lovely little place and I wouldn't hesitate to visit again
Oh and the dogs and cats are adorable!
We have just returned from a week in this lovely Spanish casita having had the most chilled of weeks relaxing in the sunshine.
Both Barry and Dianne made the most wonderful hosts, discreet when appropriate and helpful when required. The accommodation is of a high level with the pool and outside areas of an excellent standard. This is a great place to get away from it all and both Tessa and I look forward to returning again. I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone.
From the Owner
“We bought a property in Costa de la Luz because it is relatively unspoilt especially the rugged coastline with no high rise apartments. We enjoy our open views and the feeling of freedom and with long warm summers what better than being able to jump in the pool whenever you like. We feel that we are a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of city life, but it is just down the road if we want it, and it only takes 10 minutes to get there. We have a great range of bars and restaurants with a great range of authentic food at reasonable prices, or if you prefer you can just have a Tapas.”
Activity and Interests
Special interest holidays:
My husband and I run a cycling group, we normally meet every Sunday and cater for all abilities, we know of many routes and have a local bike hire shop close by so you would be able to join in if cycling is your passion.
We also have spare bikes for your use if required.
We have a magnificent coastline that stretches for miles with golden sand and promenades, the beaches are never crowded and you have the choice of the more commercial or the tranquil stretches of unspoilt coast. The nearest beach is La Barrosa about 15 minutes by car. Water sports are popular here and Laura at Trafalgar surf can offer you lessons, equipment hire and general help on where to go for the best surf.
This relatively unspoilt area is where the Spanish choose to take their holidays.
Airports: Jerez de la Frontera is 35 minutes. Seville is 1.5 hours. Gibraltar is 1 hour. Malaga is 2.5 hours via motorway. Use of a car is recommended: car hire is available from all airports. There is a local bus service to Chiclana, and from Chiclana there are connections to Cadiz, Jerez and Seville and all the beaches. Madrid is 6 hours drive. NEW FROM THIS YEAR EASY JET BRISTOL/GIBRALTAR, GREAT FOR PEOPLE LIVING IN THE SOUTH WEST!!!
Pago del Humo has all facilities including a pharmacy, a mini, supermarket general stores with a hot bread bake-off and many bar/restaurants. Chiclana is a 5 minute drive and is a large bustling town with old and new, it has a Tuesday market by the river not to be missed. Jerez famous for it's sherry and horses is 40 mins drive, Conil a pretty seaside town is 10 mins drive, Medina Sidonia (over 3000 years old) a white village is 20 mins drive. Cadiz steeped in history is a 35 min. drive
White villages set in the hills slightly inland are well worth a visit. Medina Sidonia, Vejer de la Frontera and Arcos are all worth a visit with their hilltop presence and magnificent views, cobblestone streets and beautiful town squares. Sample the Fiestas and Carnivals in the premier city of Seville. Isla Magica (like Alton Towers) is also to be found here for the kids amongst us! Also visit Puerto Santa Maria for the Waterpark. Visit and enjoy the tours around the Sherry and Brandy bodegas of Jerez and for the evening visit one of the many shows from the famous dancing horses to the fabulous Flamenco.
Explore Tarifa famous for it's wind and kite surfing and of course it's dunes, Roman ruins and plenty of white sands. You can also take a trip whale and Dolphin watching from here.
If you are feeling adventurous take the ferry to Tangiers Morocco and shop till you drop in the Souks also tantalise your taste buds with Moroccan cuisine and a culture with a difference.
Gibraltar with it's history, rocks, caves, Barbary Apes and duty free shopping is a good day out, but be prepared for long delays at the border and remember to take your passport!! It's better and cheaper to park outside for the day, walk through and take the buses, a day pass is cheap and the open top buses are fun in the summer.
Take the ferry from Puerto Santa Maria over to Cadiz (the oldest port in Europe) steeped in history and charm with quaint Tapas Bars.
Street markets are a must and will be found on different days in all the local towns.

“The casita is set in a quiet location with a great variety of birds, so perfect for bird watchers but if you just want to relax you will feel the stresses of everyday life just fall away while taking in the extensive views and beautiful gardens.. We have a perfect climate here, the heat of the summer is offset by the cooling sea breezes and the winters are generally warmer than England with much lighter evenings. This is the Costa de la luz (the coast of light) named aptly because of bright clear long days. Ideal for artists and bird watchers.”
