Attractive, comfortable seaside cottage with sea views

Overview

Property

Updated: 23-Nov-2016
Cottage in Westward Ho! North Devon, England, UK - Quiet location close to sea, local shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants

Refurbished two-bedroom early Victorian cottage. Comfortable and very well equipped, the cottage has everything you need for a relaxing holiday beside the sea. Downstairs is a living room with views across to the beach, leading through to a dining room and then to the kitchen. There is also a downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs are two double bedrooms. The large main bedroom has stunning views across the bay while the twin bedroom has views across the garden to the hills behind Westward Ho!. The bathroom has a bath and walk-in shower. The cottage is at the end of a terrace on a quiet road, with parking outside the house. Relax in the private sunny back garden. Opposite are free tennis courts and a small park. You can easily walk to the huge beach and to the local shops and cafes. There are more shops and cafes in Appledore (1 mile) and Bideford (3 miles). Further afield are country and coastal attractions - there's something for everyone! Sorry, no pets.

About the Owner

We've owned a holiday home in north Devon for nearly ten years. Links with family and friends first took us to north Devon and we loved the area. We bought our present house in the autumn of 2010 and have refurbished it so it is somewhere we enjoy visiting.

The cottage was lovely. We felt at home the moment that we stepped through the door. You have obviously re-furbished it and it is really nicely done. It was smashing to wake up in the morning and be able to see the sea.

We had a lovely time in Westward Ho! Your cottage is really beautiful and comfortable, and in an ideal location.

Andy, July 2011

We loved your cottage - it was very comfortable, clean, well-appointed and well-equipped. The location was perfect. It was so peaceful yet within very easy reach of all amenities; and the sea view from the house was wonderful.

Lovely, comfortable cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in this homely, comfortable and very well equipped cottage it is literally like home from home. The layout is nice and spacious and a lovely big family bathroom. Parking was available right outside. We enjoyed the back garden and the children had somewhere to play too.

We also enjoyed a trip to Barnstaple, Bideford and would highly recommend a day out at the big sheep if you have children it was brilliant!

Highly recommend a stay in this delightful cottage

Excellent base to explore the local area

  • 5 of 5

A really wonderful house with everything you could need for a relaxing break. Very close to the town centre and the amenities of Westward Ho!

The rooms were surprisingly large and very well maintained. We had a great week visiting local towns, by car, foot and cycle. The sun set is not be missed!

Delightful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The property is well-appointed as described and has an absolutely charming character. We made full use of the wide-ranging and high quality cookware, including the barbecue one sunny afternoon with fresh fish bought from the Saturday market in Bideford. Although I was unfamiliar with the area before this long weekend, I found we only scratched the surface of the opportunities for cycling (Tarka trail), surfing (a 5 min walk away), rambling (Hartland & Peppercombe) and quintessentially English pubs (The Hoops Inn). There really is so much stunning beauty to explore I cannot wait to come back to this brilliant base.

Delightful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 nights at this delightful cottage in April. The welcome tray was a lovely touch (biscuits went straight away!) It had everything anyone would ever need. The location was perfect, shops and restaurants just a 5/10 minute walk. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, lovely villages , Appledore being a favorite of ours. The sunsets in Westward Ho! really have to be seen. We had been recommended to go to Tea on The Green in Westward Ho! but unfortunately missed it as closed Monday And Tuesday, we will however visit next time as we look forward to staying again! I would like to add that the owner was particularly kind in offering to return a jumper I had left behind in the cottage, excellent customer service. I would gladly recommend to friends and family any time!

Delightful holiday cottage

  • 5 of 5

Have just had a lovely Easter in the cottage and Westward Ho. The cottage is in a great location with views of the sea from the main bedroom and is close to shops and restaurants. It is very comfortable and cosy, extremely clean, easy to manage and there is a lovely decking area in the garden to relax in. Come sun or rain, and there was both over the holiday period, there is plenty to do in the area.

Home from home!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was a delight to stay in and worked perfectly for us, the grandparents and our son (2yrs). The cottage was spacious enough for four adults and a small one without feeling cramped - there was plenty of space for a travel cot in the main bedroom too. Everything that we needed was on hand as the house is very well equipped; the owners having thought of everything you might need and leaving products like washing up liquid, cling film etc for everyone's use (on the understanding that you replace anything you use up). It is very nicely decorated, comfortable and cosy when the weather is less than perfect - we could imagine it being lovely in the colder months also. The garden was perfect for our son and it was also lovely to be able to sit on the decking and enjoy eating outside (younger, mobile children might need to be watched more carefully as there are steps and a small drop from the lawn). Locally, there was a Tesco Local, Co-op, bakery, butchers and deli within very easy reach and a range of cafes and restaurants, including some take aways. A perfect location for children with the park (for smaller children) and tennis courts on the doorstep, as well as the beach and all the associated amusements and surfing literally around the corner. There was plenty to do in the area too, with bike rides on the Tarka Trail, walks to Kipling Tors look out point, the Burrows and the coastal path to name but a few! We shall certainly book again when we return to the area.
