La Tour is a unique architect designed three floored building, using local ways of building and regional materials it appears to have been there nestling in the forest forever. It compliments the pine landscape and looks like a fairytale retreat. It is very popular with honeymooners as it is private, set well away from the other houses and tranquil. Outside La Tour is a terrace with a table and chairs, which makes an excellent spot to eat breakfast in the morning sun. The ground floor living room has built in sofas where you can relax enjoying the warmth of a wood fire at the end of the day whilst reading a good book, or drinking local wine. The galley kitchen is well-equipped, with a gas hobs and an oven, a fridge and a dishwasher. The round dining table is perfect for two, but works for four. Up the curved staircase is the bedroom with a comfortable queen sized bed, plenty of cupboards. On the third floor is the bathroom with a shower and bath. There is Wifi throughout the property
La Daby is a magical, tranquil, and fun place to have a holiday. The houses can be rented separately, as they have their own terraces and privacy surrounded by pine trees; or rented together. This works well if you are a group of families or friends. You benefit from being together by the pool and for delicious meals at each others’ houses, while also having your own space. Each house has all the modcons, with a dishwasher in each, so meals looking over the surrounding landscape, are a pleasure. With heating and open fires, la Daby welcomes guests all year round. The seclusion and serenity is great for couples wanting a romantic getaway in La Tour, or a family needing a blue-sky Easter break. Bandol has the best wine in the region and is only 10 km away, offering beaches, night life, fun for kids, and delicious sea food. Hiking, riding, climbing, playing tennis - or golf at the beautiful le Frigate - all close by, and there is some of the best climbing in southern Europe.
This is our family holiday home and we love it here. It belongs to four Burrills: Rebecca – a drama teacher who has two teenage children, Jemima – an artist – with two small daughters, Joshua – a radiologist, and Tabitha – a film production accountant who has one baby daughter. Santa – the Mum and the manager - is an architect and coach. We all work with a lovely local team who help look after our wonderful place.
Nearly forty years ago, we decided to find a place abroad – in France because of the food, wine, language and proximity. We decided on the 'Midi' because of the weather; and the Bandol area as it is near the sea and an airport, has wonderful countryside, nice people and the best rose anywhere.
We found our exceptional 5 acres of land, and built a house for each of our children, with a pool in the middle. As an architect, I used the local way of designing buildings with tiled roofs, stucco walls and shuttered windows. All school holidays were spent there, and whether using the houses together, or separately, it works amazingly well, providing togetherness and space to breathe. Being able to breakfast apart, is something we never stop appreciating!
The summers were full of excitement with dances almost every night in one of the local villages, and endless different events including St Eloi, Provencal dancing in the village square, and artisanal markets in the evenings at Bandol. We spend our days sailing, windsurfing, digging sand castles on the sandy beach, rock climbing at Port d'Alon; or just jumping in and out of the pool all day. The joy of winter is being outside, with bright blue sky and lunch outside with a BBQ. Whether making bonfires, or watching fireworks at Sanary, there is always fun to be had in some form.
In the Spring wild flowers across the ancient terraces, dotted with olive trees, make it an ideal retreat at this time of year. The food is fabulous: wood fired pizza, fish, cheese, and the best apricots and figs.
Robin McIntosh: “The Tower in the woods has really been like ours this week – we could hardly wait to get back to light a fire and have dinner every evening! However, we've managed to get out into the barely believable beauty of Provence – the coast, the blue of the sea and the contrasting limestone cliffs with pine trees leaning out. Les Calanaques, the sunset's colours lighting up the cliffs of Cassis, all unforgettable images and experience”. Sophie Smallhorn artist: "La Daby is the ideal family holiday solution. Whatever the season, kids can ramble around in the woods and run free but stay safe. Perfect for holidaying in big groups where everyone still has space to breathe, supper in a different house every night. Heaven!”. 2012 "What a perfect place to assemble all children and grandchildren for a week: 5 beautiful acres of mixed woodland and ancient olive terraces tumbling down to a delectable swimming pool surrounded by plentiful mattresses - a totally successful holiday."

We had such a brilliant time at La Daby. The most relaxing family holiday ever. With all the simple pleasures. Our children were happy playing in the beautiful surroundings for hours on end whilst we could relax with delicious local food and wine and sunshine. And then, when we wanted to explore, there is just so much in the local area. Thank you. We want to come back. But for 2 weeks this time!
