Le Breuil Holiday Home in Marthon, Nr. Montbron, Poitou-Charentes, France - Peaceful Location, Perfect For Large Groups, 5 Minutes To Local Market Town

Huge renovated barn located in 3 acres of beautiful countryside with superb views. Private heated pool and outdoor games, including a volley ball net plus an indoor games room with pool and table football. Table tennis, boules and bicycles for guests use, plus football pitch and badminton net. 50 inch plasma T.V. There is also free WiFi.

There are 2 terraces, one outside the kitchen which has a table with 6 chairs and the other terrace is outside the living room near the pool and has a large table with 12 chairs and a new addition of a covered terrace area to provide some needed shade! .

This stunning property has been converted to a very high specification and is situated in a peaceful rural location with fabulous countryside views. Rush hour is a tractor driving by!

For a family holiday the owner has thought of everything you would need to keep all generations happy. Swimming pool (10m x 5m), bicycles, table tennis, petanque, football field with goals, pool table and table football.

Just 5 minutes away (by car or 10 mins by bicycle), is the village of Charras where you can find a bakery, post office and small village shop. Also just 8 minutes away is Marthon, which is a small town with a pizza restaurant, hotel, bank and small selection of shops. For further amenities there is the larger town of Montbron 15 minutes away.

House comprises:

5 bedrooms (master suite with 6 ft bed and ensuite shower and bathroom, triple bedroom, 2 x double bedrooms with 5ft beds, and bunk bedroom with an additional single bed)

Master bedroom has an ensuite shower room and ensuite bathroom, and there are 3 other shower rooms in the house

Hello, I run a holiday company called Cornish Seaview Cottages which lets cottages in Cornwall.. Having renovated a number of properties in Cornwall for holiday lets I decided to purchase a shell of a house and barn and build a holiday property in France. This proved to be a popular decision, favoured by my family and many returning guests as it is a wonderful family holiday home.

Weekend with family with small children very pleasant. Large lot, heated pool, great views, quiet and spacious rooms in the house, allowed everyone to have a good time. We appreciated the welcome, the beds made, linen provided and cleaning included! The area is very nice. I recommend this great house for a great holiday!

Relaxing Holiday

This is the first time I have ever written a recommendation about a holiday location, but after the week my husband and I spent last October I felt I had to make Le Breuil an exception. The tranquility of the surroundings coupled with the quality of the accommodation left us both completely delighted with our decision to choose Le Breuil. It is rare to find such a pastoral retreat within such an easy reach of so many varied restaurants and historic places to visit within a 30 mile radius.

We had no children in our party but we could imagine with the spacious indoor rooms for snooker and indoor table football, and the opportunity in the vast field adjacent to the swimming pool, for football, boules etc, a family could be happy all day without having to put a step outside the property.

You may rest assured that it will not be long before we make another booking, and we will have no hesitation in recommending Le Breuil to our friends.

Rustic retreat!

This property provides the perfect escape! We throughly enjoyed our two week stay here. Equipped with a pool, table tennis, board games and bicycles meant we enjoyed family time and got the get away we so needed. The accomadation was spotless, very clean which made us feel comfortable. The owners took the time to provide us with a book which detailed recommendations, which was most appreciated. We exsplored local villages and sights. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here. I would highly recommend it!

Restful stay in the country

I stayed in Le Breuil for two weeks with family and friends and was enchanted by the beauty and quiet of the place. It was so restful and relaxing. The property itself is very well maintained with a beautiful pool and lots of space outside for play and activities. The rooms are spacious and light; and there are plenty of activities such as a ping pong table, big tv, bikes for glorious rides around the country, and board games. I felt as though I was able to escape everyday life and unwind properly.

The owners had left a handy guide to the local area, really helpful as you can't necessarily walk directly to many places. We drove the short distance into local villages and towns and went cayaking, wandering local shops and exploring churches and castles.

A truly magical trip, I cannot recommend Le Breuil highly enough.

Peaceful retreat in rural France - a gem!!

We are a family of four with two grown up daughters and we joined another family of four to enjoy a wonderful, relaxing two week holiday at this delightful property. The location was perfect nestled in rural France and only a short distance from small villages where we found some superb restaurants. The property was clean, well maintained and exceptionally well equipped and we found plenty to keep us occupied when 'at home' from table tennis, boules, heated pool, bicycles, table football, board games and Sky TV to name but a few! We were lucky enough to have good weather and made full use of the covered dining area outside, bar-b-que and comfortable loungers. We explored the local area and found the information in the house both from previous visitors and the owners very useful. Our only regret was that we had to leave as we all had a wonderful time. We would have no hesitation in returning and have recommend it to our friends.

Charente Heaven

This is the first time I have ever written a review but following our last trip to Le Breuil I felt I just had to do so.

If one is looking for a perfect place to stay for a tranquil and enjoyable holiday then truly one needs to look no further than Le Breuil. My wife and I have traveled widely throughout France and the fact that our last trip here was our fifth, bears ample testament to how much we rate the accommodation and idyllic surroundings.

The feeling of space both inside the accommodation and in the countryside outside has to be seen to truly appreciated.

Within 50 kilometers are many historic towns and picturesque villages within which are many restaurants catering for a wide range of tastes and pockets.

In short we have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Le Breuil to anyone, and fully intend to go there again.

Location

From the Owner

Its a fantastic, spacious, converted barn which is ideal for family groups. As the owner I visit the property with my family and have chosen to make sure that my teenage children have plenty of activities to keep them happy. The pool is heated and has been designed so that a good game of volley ball can be enjoyed! There is a table tennis table, pool table and table football. Outdoors we play Petanque and there is also enough space for our football goals, so we spend many a fun afternoon kicking a ball around. Over the years of visiting the area we have got to know the locals and also the local restaurants and I am very happy to recommend hidden gems that we can tell you about. One of our favourite restaurants is Le Petit only 10 mins drive away - owned by an English couple but it is very popular with the locals. The area is beautiful and peaceful and once you get to know it there is plenty to do and lots of places of interest to visit.

Rail link - Eurostar and TGV to Anguoleme (1/2 hr from property).

Distances:

5 min drive to Charras village with local bakery,/cafe/restaurant and small grocers and post office.

5 min drive to Marthon, a small town with tennis,pizzeria, hotel, selection of shops, bank etc and ruins of castle.

20 mins drive to Montbron - a lovely market town with supermarket, shops, restaurants, and local market.Golf and tennis, noted for its castle and old ramparts.

Further Details:

Fishing, tennis, golf, horse riding, walking and cycling all locally.

Plus canoeing at Brantome - 30 mins drive away.

There is plenty of entertainment at the property for all ages and much thought has gone into providing a fantastic holiday home in a beautiful setting. Outside: Private heated outdoor pool 11 x 5m, with optional volley ball net. 2 terrace areas for outdoor dining and entertaining which consist of a table with 6 chairs on the terrace from the kitchen, and a table with 12 chairs on the terrace near the pool. 8 Sun loungers.
