The house has two outside areas for relaxing. The roof terrace has views towards the mountains and the sea so in the summer evenings you can watch the beautiful sunsets while sipping sangria looking over towards the glimmering lights of Alicante. There is also table and chairs for alfresco dining at the front of the house in the small garden area. The property has the added benefit of WiFI air con/ heating, cable TV with British Channels and a DVD player. Also CD Player with docking station.

Great holiday

We only stayed for 6 nights but wish we had booked for longer. The place was close to everything that you would want. Tthe pool was the best part as the kids spent most of their holiday swimming and being across the road was good. The accommodation was well equipped and very clean. The wifi was an extra bonus and there were English tv channels not that we watched much tv. We enjoyed sitting out on the terrace and just relaxing. I would recommend staying here and will definitely be returning.

A gem of a find in Gran Alacant !!

For purely selfish reasons I wasn’t going to write this review! (Wanted to keep this find to myself!) but that would be unfair on Janice and her house which is a gem of a find in Gran Alacant. We have visited the area on and off for around 20 years now and have to say this is the best equipped, cleanest and well maintained accommodation we have ever stayed at in this area. With air con in the bedrooms and living area made for a pleasant retreat from the warm sunny days they have here.

The house is on 3 levels with living area, toilet/shower and kitchen on the ground floor. Here you also have UK TV channels and WiFi throughout which was excellent for us, as our son is currently in New Zealand and allowed us to Skype him, so thumbs up for this :0). Upstairs are the two bedrooms (with air con) and bathroom (bath/shower) and on the next floor is the roof terrace. Outside at the front there is also a nice patio area where we had breakfast every morning and just watched the world go by !

The house is a 5 minute walk (10 minute stroll!) to the nearest shop and not much further to eateries and the local train/bus stops (N.B. The train isn’t a train per se’ it’s essentially a road vehicle in the shape of a train with a couple of carriages which stop at various points around Gran Alacant). We hired a car and parking was relatively easy, although was getting busier by the time we were due to leave. With the house you also get access to the communal pool which is literally across the road and down a few steps and was fantastic. A very large clean area with toilets! And life guard. While you can take your own deck chairs etc along to the area, it was however only 1euro 50 to hire a bed for the day ! Like all pools in this area (probably all over Spain) there are strict rules what you can and cannot take into the area (eating, alcohol and large inflatable’s are a no, no). But as the house is a short walk away you can go back and forth without too many problems.

All in all an excellent find and definitely somewhere we will return to. We have no problems in certainly recommending this accommodation to others. Look forward to our next stay :0)

Nice relaxing holidat

We stayed here for ten days, had a great time, house is clean & well maintained, 4 adults in our party and there was plenty of room. Owner was very quick to respond to all enquiries both by phone and email, the house is a 10 minute walk from the beach and very close to supermarket, restaurants and bars and there is good bus and tourist train service to get you around the local area, We would recommend staying here to anyone thinking of visiting this beautiful part of Spain.

GREAT PLACE TO CHILL

This is our fifth year back to gran alacant and 2nd year in Jan,s lovely home we have also booked next year with Jan.

The property has everything you need wether your there for a short break or a long holiday and only ten mins from airport.

only a short walk to local bars and restaurants and the beach is a short 10 minute stroll.

You have the use of a shared pool just across the road.

Beautiful house in a fantastic place

We go to this house twice a year and have visited 5 or 6 times now and each time does not disappoint. Situated in the ever popular gran alacant area 10 minutes from the airport, this house enjoys views of the mountains, beach, sea and stunning sunset in the evening. A stones throw away from local bars and restaurants, both Spanish and British, there is truly something for everyone. Jan, the owner, keeps the house in pristine condition to be enjoyed by families or couples seeking a relaxing Spanish break. Highly recommended.

Superb Holiday

Dear Jan,

We would like to thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful property! Our hoiday started as soon as we landed at the airport where we were collected by your lovely property manager. We arrived at the house in less than 20 mins, relaxed and ready to start our holiday! The house was absolutely beautiful, exceptionally clean, spacious and well appointed. The sun terraces were inviting and beautifully furnished. We spent many happy evenings enjoying a glass of wine, watching the sun set and chatting to the friendly neighbours. The community social area was a delight and we enjoyed several excellent evenings enjoying the atmosphere and sharing a meal or two. Our children particularly enjoyed the pool garden and when we could drag them away the lovely beach was within walking distance. Once again thank you very much, we had a superb hloiday and we would certainly be happy to come back and visit you again!

Location

The property was bought off plan in 2004 and we moved in in 2006. I chose the area because of its close proximity to the airport and the fabulous Carabassi Beach.The walks around the nature reserve and costal roads make it a great place to visit out of season when it's not so hot. Cycling is also very popular. The short drive into Santa Pola along the coast road is very picturesque.Santa Pola has a lovely harbour where you can watch the fishing boats come in with their daily catch or stroll on the lovely white sandy beaches the town itself still retains its Spanish vibe.You can also take a boat to 'Tabarca Island' which lies about 9Km East South East of Santa Pola Harbour is now a protected Marine Reserve but also has a history of refuge for Barbury Pirates in the late 18th century.

Nearest Airport : Alicante at 10 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Carabassi at 1.8 Kilometres Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

The Costa Blanca is famous for its warm climate, beautiful white sandy beaches and sparkling blue sea.

Both Gran Alacant and Arenales del Sol beaches have been recognised as having high standards of cleanliness and facilities by being awarded the Blue Flag status. Life saving and first aid equipment and staff are on duty throughout the Summer season.

Travel:

Alicante airport is only 10 minutes drive from the house and approximately 20 euros by taxi. The bus service around Gran Alacant is very good and most stops have timetables. It's also very reasonably priced to travel. In high season there is a road train that picks up and drops off up and down the hill around Gran Alacant. It also travels the coast road to Santa Pola and back.

Distances:

Alicante is 15 kilometres North and Santa Pola is approximately 5 kilometres south from Gran Alacant.

Further Details:

The nearest supermarket is Max co-op, which is only 5 minutes walk selling the usual everyday provisions plus fresh meat and fish. Every Thursday there is a street market in Gran Alacant selling a selection of items from Rugs,Plants to Fresh Fruit and vegetables. There is a larger Shopping Centre with a wide range of shops supermarkets bars and restaurants as you enter Gran Alacant from the airport road. Nightlife is low key but there are some bars and restaurants catering for a selaction of tastes eg. Italian, Indian, Chinese and of course Tapas, or traditional Fish and Chips.There is a Nature Reserve at the bottom of the hill close to the beach surrounding Gran Alacan. There are clearly marked trails for walkers or cyclists. This area is of a particular interest to Bird Watchers as there are many different species observed all year round.Carabassi Beach (Blue Flag Awarded) is only 15 minutes walk away or 5 minutes drive.It has a large car park and recently built wooden boardwalks straight onto the beach. It boasts of 9 kilometres of white sand, therfore its never overcrowded there are beach bars in high season and sunbed and parasol hire.
