This area of the Cambrian Mountains is little known to the masses. The scenery is stunning, the crowds are non exisitant, and there plenty of activities and adventures to have in the area from wild water swimming in the rivers,Walking , Mountain Biking, Horse Riding, going down a Gold mine or climbing up the towers in spectacular Castles. Llanwrtyd Wells (pronounced clan-or-tid) offers three award winning restaurants, 3 pubs and micro brewery and a couple of well stocked convenience stores. Bronfelin Holiday Cottage - I was pleasantly surprise that the cottage was even better than advertised. We had a wonderful holiday with my teenage/adult daughters & husband. The cottage was very cosy & was equipped with all we needed for a perfect retreat. the breath-taking views from the cottage windows were a wonderful welcome greeting ever morning. There is so much to do and see, 6 days was not enough, although I did get some time to paint and cook on the lovely Rayburn cooker.
'Even before we stayed at Bronfelin Roger and Katie were wonderfully warm and helpful, understanding perfectly what it is like to travel with a baby and accommodating everything we needed (and some things we forgot we needed!).' Sept '13
'The cottage is fantastic. Clean and modern decoration, very comfortable and furnished with everything you could really need. We stayed in winter, so relaxing in front of the wood burning stove with a glass of wine was th perfect way to spend an evening.' 12 Jan 2010

We had a mid-winter get away for a week and had a lovely time in Bronfelin. It's just a great place for a family (up to 3 kids) to cosy up by the fire and get out into the hills. It has the winning mix of being nicely done out, but robust enough to withstand grubby little hands without having to worry too much. The location worked really well - no phone reception; hills; shops selling essentials but no crowds; gorgeous!
As a family of five - including teenagers - the cottage appealed to everyone. Views from the cottage windows are spectacular - perfect with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Beautiful walks from the door and if you fancy wild swimming this is your location. The owners are helpful, willing and knowledgeable about the area.
Although I grew up in the Elan Valley I did not know the cottage and what an amazing place to go and stay! Everything provided for a young family and a blissful break. If you want time out away from the rat race then look no further. The cottage was high spec, the owners friendly and helpful and we can not wait to go back. It was always warm in the cottage and if you are not used to rural living I would just advise preparing what your meals are going to be in advance but really....no negatives at all.
We had a lovely stay in this comfortable cottage. Owners very friendly and helpful- much appreciated. If you want a cottage at the centre of a busy town, then this one is not for you! Very peaceful- just what we needed. Accurate description of cottage and what was included. Very clean and well maintained. Dan-yr- Ogof caves are a must - beautiful. ?lan valley great to visit and possibly walk or hire bikes there. Village shop provides necessities. Good food at village pubs. Would definitely recommend this cottage.
