About the property

1 - 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 2 - 5

Cala Bella, a gorgeous private bay, in the protected area of the Nature Park of the Tuscan Arcipelago, is like an 'Island' within the island of Elba. The bay, a secluded property located in the sunny south coast of the island, is nestled between two promontories and the landscape is untouched. This is a breathtaking view on the Mediterranean sea.

The romantic Villa ' La Canzone del Mare', hidden in a spectacular setting and surrounded by the scent of the Mediterranean marquis, is situated 300 m from the sea, and 80 m above sea level. The villa, accommodates its guests in apartments of different size, that sleeps each from 2 till 4.

Panoramic patio and verandas open out into a garden of Spanish broom and bougainvillea plants. MonteCristo, the island of mystery appears on the horizon. A large private park full of pine trees, eucalyptus and rosemary plants slopes down to a wild inlet among the rocks.

Cala Bella is ideally located: on the island: it's an oasis of peace but a transit-able dirt road of 1,3 km., takes in the middle of the island. Few minutes by car from nice villages as Marina di Campo or Procchio and enchanting beaches. For lovers of an unspoiled sea, at 700 m the beach of Fonza, reachable also by car, is kept unspoiled and hidden from tourism. At 300 m, a path and steps along the property, leads down to an enchanting private inlet among the rocks.

Elba is full of historical reminds and various landscapes from mountains to 138 km of coast with beautiful bays. All sports activities can be practiced. The Island of Elba is the ideal location for sports enthusiasts and those seeking an active holiday. It offers the perfect combination: nature, sea and sport.

With a distance of 10 km from the continent and a size of 224 square km, Elba is the biggest island of the Tuscan Archipelago and actually the third-biggest of Italy.

General information: how to reach the island: Elba is well connected with the Tuscany coast in Piombino. A ferry takes 50 min to reach Portoferraio, main centre of the island. The timetable depends on the season. In high season, they run almost every hour. Piombino is about 2 hours from Florence, so a daily excursion into the city or in the Tuscan countryside is also possible. Elba is also reachable by plane flying directly to Marina di Campo that is served in summer by airlines out of Germany or to Pisa . From Pisa is easy to take a train or rent a car to Piombino .

Rental of a car on the island can be arranged on request.

Elba is the biggest island of the Tuscan Arcipelago and the third Italian biggest island.

It's a world wide famous tourist centre.

History: Elba, one time home-in-exile to Napoleon, has been largely ignored by English-speaking tourists.

The Island is graced with a countless variety of beaches-- from rocky coves to pebbled inlets to sandy beaches. The water is cool, refreshing, and clear.

Monte Capanne, the island's highest peak, provides hikers with a panoramic view of the mainland of Italy and the islands of Corsica, Capraia, Pianosa and Monte Cristo. Its forests and mountain trails attract hikers and mountain bikers while stables offer guided rides through the hills.

Elba has been inhabited as early as the 10th century BC by the Greeks then, through the centuries was conquered by the Etruscans, the Romans, the Normans and the Saracens. In 1802 it was annexed to France and in 1814 Napoleon Bonaparte was exiled here under the Treaty of Fontainebleau and left behind many marks, including two residences which are now open to tourists.

Bella is the perfect name for this very fantastic

  • 5 of 5

This vacation was my fourth in this beautiful apartment in Elba . Bella is the perfect name for this very fantastic place with a breathtaking view of Marina di Campo Bay, Each time I visit that first look at the ocean from the large private terrace is the perfect start to my next vacation. I have been there with my family and also my friends. There is a carebbean atmosphere a unique place on the island . The complex is very private but close to all the island has to offer.

My favorite time of day is sunset. Walking the beach and then enjoying an evening swim in the terrace. Hotel stays in the past have always been a challenge to find a lounge chair and a quiet place. Not a problem here. Thank you Maddalena for your hospitality,

Nearest Airport : Pisa at 150 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : Portoferraio at 20 Kilometres Nearest Train : Piombino at 30 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : Piombino at 30 Kilometres Nearest Beach : at 300 Metres Car: necessary

Cala Bella has a strategical location within the island: a secluded place but following a transit able dirt road of 1,3 km., in few minutes you may then reach the nicest place of the island. The Mondan village of Marina di Campo is at 4 km., the nice Procchio is at 6 km. They both have shops restaurants, disco etc.. Bay and beaches: 700 m: the bay beneath, called Fonza, is reachable also by car, and is kept unspoiled and hidden from tourism. It is a large beach of river cobblestones and sand with low water in the bottom of the sea. The water is shallow and safe for a large portion. Due to the central position of Cala Bella you may move easily in a few minutes of car both south or north along the coast reaching the best beaches of the island: sand, rocks, unspoiled or crowded sea areas.

The secret of the island is following the wind..the possibility to go every day day in a different beach or bay, so as to take a good swim with clean water every day. See photos.
