About Olwen Strello

I love living in this wonderful part of North West Wales and am a bilingual speaker in Welsh and English .We have had a self catering cottage for at least 16 years and my husband and I know this area well having been brought up here .We are therefore able to advice you on local tourist attractions and sporting activities etc.The zip world experience in Bethesda is growing in popularity and everyone enjoys walking or taking the train up to Mount Snowdon- the highest mountain in England and Wales.North Wales in my view is rapidly becoming a outdoor activity mecca and there is also a wide range of local produce for quality food and local small scale breweries delivering an unique holiday !

Olwen Strello purchased this cottage in 1996

Why Olwen Strello chose Dinas

We fell in love with the countryside and views from the cottage. The location is fantastic because you are within walking distance to village amenities but can enjoy peace and tranquility of the countryside and plenty of wildlife on our doorstep. There is private access to the riverbank and fishing is popular especially river trout.

The Royal town of Caernarfon is within walking distance with may eateries and pubs and the Unesco Word heritage site of the castle

What makes this cottage unique

In 2009 the cottage was totally refurbished from a 2 bedroom holiday cottage to a one bedroom self catering cottage. This is the only property enjoying private outlook towards the river and Snowdonia.Unique features is the location - you do not require a car regarding transport every day you may choose between hiring the bikes, hiking along the cycle track or taking the Welsh Highland Steam train from the halt stop nearby.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Beautiful riverside cottage ,relaxing and convenient to discover North West Wales.Past holidaymakers have enjoyed catching the steam train from the halt stop and waving to the driver to stop!-very friendly .

Great location and cosy

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for 2 nights with my girlfriend and Milo our Jack Russell in March when it was cold and snowy. Had a fab time the cottage was clean and equipped with all we needed. Great walks from the cottage and great to get home to a real roaring fire.

Cozy cottage with views of Snowdonia

  • 5 of 5

We’ve just returned from a two week stay over Christmas and new year. Ollwen and Garaint are very welcoming hosts who are on hand to answer questions but never intrusive.

The cottage is perfect for a quiet, romantic break with everything you need for a wonderful stay. You feel as if you are in the middle of nowhere, yet you are I. Easy reach of so many of North Wales’ main centres and attractions.

Watching the sun come up over the snowy tops of the Snowdonia mountains out of the lounge, bedroom and kitchen is a memory that will stay with us forever.

I would strongly recommend using this accommodation for a break in Wales, whether you want mountain walks, coastal strolls or trips to some of the prettiest villages and towns this cottage is simply wonderful. Thank you again for being such gracious hosts and for helping us have the Christmas, New Year and 20th Anniversary we’d been dreaming of.

A wonderful Welsh gem.

  • 5 of 5

Samuel Cottage provided an absolutely ideal base for us to spend the last week of September relaxing and unwinding. It was perfectly situated to explore North Wales, and the location was idyllic. Being able to hear the stream gurgling and the train puffing past added to the wonderful feeling of getting away from it all. Waking up on our first morning to glorious weather, taking breakfast in the garden, watching the sheep in the field with views of Snowdon, just hearing the birds, stream, and train, is the most relaxed we have felt in a long time. The cottage was immaculate; the bed comfy, the kitchen and bathroom well appointed, the lounge cosy, and the garden lovely. The owners were excellent, making us feel very welcome but not at all intrusive and leaving us to it to enjoy our time away, which is exactly what we wanted. We were sad to check out and return to normality, but we consoled ourselves knowing we will be back!

Comfortable Cottage in an Ideal Location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is very clean and comfortable and the log burner makes it very cosy. The cottage has everything you need for two people and is ideally located. Most of the north Wales tourist attractions are within half an hour's drive.
