About this property

Large Villa With Private Pool, Stunning Views. Walking distance to amenities.

The villa is a large gated property on a level plot with spectacular views of the Mediterranean and the Penon Rock in Calpe. This beautiful old house, tiled in terracotta throughout, is very private and not overlooked, (naturists would be happy here!) It's big and spacious, on one level, with good-sized rooms. It's suited for wheelchair users and, it's ideal for families sharing the holiday with friends or older relatives with limited mobility.
The villa is not modern but very comfortable and airy. There are neatly maintained gardens to the front and rear, and secure parking for two cars. The house has a beautiful, cool, pristine pool which is good sized, and the surrounding terrace is south-facing. From there, is the amazing, panoramic backdrop, of the blue Mediterranean and the huge Calpe rock, the Penon de Ifach, which dominates the vista. Leading onto this area, the villa has a covered archway which is great for keeping cool when the sun gets too hot, and is also the ideal spot for family dining, throughout the day.
Situated on the Sant Jaime urbanization, the villa is easy walking distance to bars and about 10 restaurants, so the car can stay at home in the evenings. There is a new modern gym nearby and a large supermarket within a commercial centre, minutes away. Here you can also find a cafe/bar, Hairdressers, Perfumeria, Dry cleaners, etc.
Moraira beach is a six-minute drive and gloriously long, sandy, beaches in Calpe, are 15 minutes in the opposite direction. Between the two towns, there are several small, beautiful, bays, either sandy or shingle, and they have chiringuitos, which are seasonal bar/restaurants serving snacks and main meals throughout the day. They are also great for chilling out, in the evenings. The nearest of these is Baladrar Bay, which is a shingle/pebbled beach.
Please note, that the house is not suitable for hen or stag parties. Golfers are welcome, indeed, the villa is almost right next to the
9-hole, Ifach Golf Club, which is open to the public. The house has ADSL broadband internet and Freeview English TV and is available for long winter letting at a greatly reduced rate.

Perfect villa, perfect host
We had a wonderful holiday, the villa was so much more than we expected, the photos really don’t do it justice. Linda was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble, and she went out of her way to help us with everything we asked of her, we can’t wait to visit again.

Rustic villa with fabulous views
This is a traditional Spanish villa with a lovely pool and fantastic views. It’s in a good location to walk to local bars and restaurants and a small beach. Great communication with the property manager which made the whole process easy. The villa is very well equipped and the WiFi works well. We all had a great holiday in the villa. The only thing that could of made it even better was if it had air conditioning as in Aug it was crazy hot. The fans in all rooms did help though. Would recommend this villa.

Lovely location but 'tired' villa
The quiet location and pool area were stunning, with beautiful views to the Calpe Rock and sea. However the villa itself was very disappointing. No welcome pack! not even a bottle of water (first time ever in all the properties we've stayed at in 15 years!). We appreciate that it was a traditional old Spanish style villa and totally don't mind that at all but it is definitely in need of updating in all aspects. The seating in the lounge was very 'used' and tired (although throws were provided). The kitchen cupboards and drawers had a mouldy smell which was off-putting when using the crockery and cutlery. The cooker and drainer were greasy. The TV was a bit of a nuisance, constantly having to be reset and the instructions weren't a lot of help for the problem we had. We used the double bedroom off the sun room and the bed linen was very un-inviting and with one dimly lit bedside lamp. No towels out on the beds on arrival. Same in all bedrooms, dull and uninviting. The shower cubicle in the bathroom next to the utility room didn't drain away and filled up by the end of a shower, so we couldn't use that. The shower door in the second shower room didn't close properly, so all the water went all over the floor. So the third attempt was to use the shower over the bath, which was better. Generally, the villa could have been far better presented for a holiday rental and in our opinion is not acceptable, in it's current condition. We have stayed in many properties in the area over the years, but never one so 'tired', which is a shame because it could be made so beautiful with a revamp. On the plus side though, we very much enjoyed the outside area and pool. It's a great area to chill and unwind, very peaceful and the pool was gorgeous! Location good for restaurants and big supermarket just down the road. We gave it 3 stars purely on the views, pool and location. Unfortunately the interior would be a 2 star.

A charming Spanish villa
We had a wonderful stay in Moraira. Struggled a bit to find typical Spanish restaurants but Casa Toni, which was within walking distance from the house was brilliant. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to cook some lovely meals at home. Also had great fun in the pool which was lovely and deep at the far end. The house was in need of a little TLC but this did not cause us a problem! Linda was very helpful too. I would recommend a stay here.

Lovely villa, amazing view
The pool is excellent and well sized with such a lovely view of the rock of Calpe. We had a great holiday here. Thanks to Linda who was very helpful but not invasive. We arrived very late and she bought us some groceries for arrival- so helpful. The villa is spacious and well equipped- apart from no dishwasher or air con, but of course that is not essential. Overall a great villa, especially with children as it is on one level and the pool area is contained, so easy to keep an eye out. The only consideration other families might make would be that the children's room is separate from other rooms. As we have very young children, we felt the need to have one parent in the room, but that was just our preference. Walking distance to supermarket Pepe Le Sal, bank and other shops and bars. Our favourite bar was at the Golf Ifach. The attached restaurant is also fantastic with great views- Dinner for 5 adults and 2 children with wine was 130 euros-no starter or pudding though! Not so keen on other bars as they are on the road so we didn't try them. Short drive to beach.

About the host

Hosted by Linda Mears

Host profile image
The owner of the house is a Swedish lady. She and myself Linda Mears are old friends and I was happy to act on her behalf when she stated that she wished to let the house during the summer months. I am an ex-Royal Navy Senior Rate who 'retired' here 20 years. Born in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, I live in Montemar, which is a five minute drive from the villa and fill my time with managing this house and my own small holiday rental. I play tennis twice a week and walk my two dogs. I have also worked for a local animal charity for the last five years.

Why they chose this property

Our area of the Costa Blanca is the most beautiful of the whole of the eastern, and southern coast of Spain. Moraira and the surrounding area, has been carefully developed over the last few decades, to ensure that it retains its charm as a chic, cosmopolitan resort, with no high rise hotels or apartment blocks. There are amazing fiestas throughout the summer months, truly, The Moors and Christians, in June, is not to be missed and the Patron Fiestas in July, with the fireworks displays are just jaw dropping! The Spanish really know a thing or two about throwing a party and involving the public, (for free!!).
It's an affluent area, as can be seen by the abundance of beautiful houses with carefully maintained gardens and urbanisations. I recommend the walk from The town to El Portet bay, with its super views over the town and marina. Sometimes, when I'm approaching Moraira, and the sun is on the sea, it looks so glorious that I still can't believe I actually live here! I unashamedly admit, that I should work for the Valencian Tourist Board. I love it.

What makes this property unique

I love this villa. It has a fantastic old fashioned charm about it and its location, only 600 metres from the supermarket, restaurants and bars is great. In the evenings you can leave the car at home and stroll down the gently sloping avenue for your nights out. The view from the terrace is panoramic and it just seems to have a wonderfully relaxing feel to it.

Some comments from past visitors.

"I think the trouble is, the villa for us, ticks all our boxes, own private pool, walking distance to supermarket and shops, sea view, these are all things we look out for, air con would make it perfect but we can survive!"

"We have been looking for something smaller, even searching further afield but every time we think we find somewhere, there is always one niggling point or un-ticked box etc. Maybe we are just being too picky!"

Some comments from 3rd time visitor:
"I think Deb and I are just both in agreement that we have had 3 very enjoyable and relaxing holidays at the villa, we both love it so why jeopardise our luck and go somewhere else".
"As always, loved it!!!! – We always feel so at ease and chilled whilst there, love the villa, love the walking distance to Pepe La Sal and the restaurants, love the short taxi ride to Moraira, never get bored of waking up and seeing that view!
We are already looking for next year, we often talk about trying somewhere new again but the villa and its proximity to amenities and the area draws us back, and for me you just can’t beat not having to drive for a fortnight. There will only be the two of us next year so we do have to consider the size of the villa and cost, but you may have to put us up for another fortnight!
Thanks as always".
