The villa is a large gated property on a level plot with spectacular views of the Mediterranean and the Penon Rock in Calpe. This beautiful old house, tiled in terracotta throughout, is big and spacious and is on one level with good sized rooms, so is suited for wheelchair users and, as there are no stairs, it's ideal for families sharing the holiday with older relatives with limited mobility. There are peaceful, maintained gardens to the front and rear. The pool is good sized and the terrace is south facing. Please note the house is not suitable for hen or stag parties. Golfers are welcome, the house has ADSL broadband internet and freeview English TV, and is available for long winter letting at a reduced rate.

About Linda Mears

The owner of the house is a Swedish lady. She and myself Linda Mears are old friends and I was happy to act on her behalf when she stated that she wished to let the house during the summer months. I am an ex-Royal Navy Senior Rate who 'retired' here 18 years ago at the age of 40. I live in Montemar which is a five minute drive from the villa and fill my time with managing a couple of properties and doing several holiday changeovers during the summer season, I play tennis and walk my dogs.

Why Linda Mears chose San Jaime

Our area of the Costa Blanca is the most beautiful of the whole of the eastern and southern coast of Spain. Moraira and the surrounding area has been carefully developed to ensure that it retains its charm as a chic cosmopolitan resort . It's an affluent area as can be seen by the abundance of beautiful houses and carefully maintained gardens and urbanisations. I sometimes still have to pinch myself when I'm approaching Moraira and the sun is on the sea, it looks so glorious that I can't believe I actually live here! I unashamedly admit that I should work for the Valencian Tourist Board. I love it.

What makes this villa unique

I love this villa. It has a fantastic old fashioned charm about it and its location, only 600 metres from the supermarket, restaurants and bars is great. In the evenings you can leave the car at home and stroll down the gently sloping avenue for your nights out. The view from the terrace is panoramic and it just seems to have a wonderfully relaxing feel to it. No hurries, no worries, just sit and soak in the peaceful ambience of your surroundings.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: A travel cot and high chair are available free of charge. Welcome packs can be arranged for late arrivals. Outside: The villa has a lovely private pool accessed by Roman steps, it's good sized and though not conventional, is best described as kidney-shaped and slopes to over 2mtrs at the far end. The surrounding terrace with its spectacular views is south facing and so has sun all day and there is an arched covered terrace should the heat become too much. Photographs truly cannot do the view justice as it is quite spectacular with constantly changing ambient light, evenings sat looking out to sea are decidedly chilled out and peaceful. There are sun loungers and tables and chairs for al fresco dining and adjacent to the pool area is a large stone bar-b-que. The garden to the rear of the house is a peaceful shady haven with a seating area amongst fruit trees. There is ample parking for two cars. The villa is situated in a beautiful quiet neighbourhood and is very private. Utility Room: The utility room has a washing machine, iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The house is cleaned before arrival and on departure of guests. All towels and bed linen are provided and are changed weekly. A cleaning service is available during your stay if required and is paid locally. Other: The conservatory adjoining bedroom 1 has a comfortable sofa and armchairs with French windows which open directly onto the super pool terrace with amazing views of the sea.

Lovely villa, amazing view

The pool is excellent and well sized with such a lovely view of the rock of Calpe. We had a great holiday here. Thanks to Linda who was very helpful but not invasive. We arrived very late and she bought us some groceries for arrival- so helpful.

The villa is spacious and well equipped- apart from no dishwasher or air con, but of course that is not essential. Overall a great villa, especially with children as it is on one level and the pool area is contained, so easy to keep an eye out. The only consideration other families might make would be that the children's room is separate from other rooms. As we have very young children, we felt the need to have one parent in the room, but that was just our preference.

Walking distance to supermarket Pepe Le Sal, bank and other shops and bars. Our favourite bar was at the Golf Ifach. The attached restaurant is also fantastic with great views- Dinner for 5 adults and 2 children with wine was 130 euros-no starter or pudding though! Not so keen on other bars as they are on the road so we didn't try them. Short drive to beach.

Another blissful week

Another fantastic relaxing week at this villa. Forgot how wonderful the views were. So peaceful as no passing traffic and the pool is absolutely pristine. So difficult to drag yourself away. Several new bars and restaurants within the area, again, all within easy walking distance. Thanks again to Linda, who manages the villa, easily on hand to offer assistance/information when needed. Looking forward to our next visit.

Ultimate in relaxation

Can’t recommend this villa enough. This was our 2nd visit and it certainly wont be the last. The villa offers complete privacy, relaxation, peace and quiet with spectacular panoramic views out to sea and the famous "Rock of Calpe". The beautifully maintained pool was crystal clear it was so difficult to drag ourselves away from the terrace to explore the surrounding area. Internally the villa is huge; large spacious rooms and is so well equipped, especially the kitchen. Lots of homely extras and plenty of books DVDs and CDs to choose from. The decor is a little outdated but the charm of the place more than compensates.

The villa is within easy walking distance (less than 10 min.) from a large supermarket, shops and loads of good quality, inexpensive restaurants and bars, both Spanish and International alike. Moriara is a lovely chic town with plentiful shops, bars restaurants with a lovely seafront with a marina and a castle. The beach is pleasant enough however a short drive to nearby Calpe is where we preferred to spend our "beachy days" where there are several beaches to choose from. Here you will also find an esplanade of seafood restaurants serving up amazing platters at incredibly low prices.

There are lots of interesting places to visit in and around Moriara. A short drive takes you to mountain top villages, wine regions and small towns with their narrow cobbled streets and rot- iron geranium filled balconies, all giving you a true taste of real Spain.

Linda, who manages the villa, was very pleasant and friendly. Any problems or queries were attended to promptly. She is so passionate about the area she lives in and is a mine of information.

Can’t wait for our next visit.

Character and Space, with Lovely Views

The house is characterful and extremely spacious. Not all mod cons, but very homely, clean and comfortable. Cool inside during the day, with plenty of shade outside and a super pool – views are tremendous! The finishing touches ( lovely shrubs, broadband connection, freeview TV, car port) helped our mixed age party of 6 thoroughly enjoy our stay.

Lovely Spacious Villa

I don`t hesitate to recommend this really lovely Villa.

It`s not the most modern but is well looked after and has a charm all of it`s own which brought us back again this year and will again next year too..!

It is very spacious with high ceilings and a depth to the property which provides a cool ,calming retreat from the heat of the day without the need for aircon, although fans are provided in the bedrooms for extra comfort on very hot nights.

The lounge is very large and comfortable and now includes wi-fi and internet TV as well as a large number of free- sat channels too.

There is a dining table for eight in part of the lounge as well as extra tables near the pool and also in the spacious kitchen.

There are four double bedrooms one with ensuite bath with shower over and two seperate shower rooms with toilets, all connected by a very long hallway. There is so much space that even with 8 people staying there is no feeling of being crowded and if you need privacy for a while it`s no problem.

My very favourite part though is the terrace and pool. The views from here are magnificent..! Out to sea and right across to Calpe and the Penon de Ifach. (The famous rock.) It`s a quiet area and the terrace is not overlooked.

There`s space for about 3 cars inside the gates and it`s only a short drive to Moraira where there is easy parking to visit the pretty town and it`s many restaurants but there are also supermarkets and restaurants within easy walking distance of the Villa.

The Owner/caretaker is a very nice lady and lives close by so is always on hand should there be any problems.

We can`t wait for our next visit and the grandchildren love it too...!

Special interest holidays:

Moraira has good tennis facilities, and clubs run social tennis sessions and tennis schools for youngsters aged 4-16. Membership is not necessary, you can just pay and play and is wonderfully informal and friendly. Coaching is also available for all levels. Coast/Beach:

The beautiful Costa Blanca has numerous blue flag beaches, each with its own appeal and different to each other, several with beach bars serving food and drink throughout the summer season. Baladrar beach is the nearest and has a super bar above the beach which overlooks the huge Calpe rock and has weekly BBQs and entertainment.

Beautiful Moraira is the nearest village with no high rise hotels and a fabulous marina. It has been carefully nurtured, it's chic but wonderfully informal.

Travel:

Alicante is the nearest airport and is a 1 hour drive from the villa via the motorway. Valencia is around 1 hour 20 mins. Car hire is not stricly essential as restaurants, bars and the nearest supermarket with its small shopping arcade, are within 10 minutes walk away but please note, shopping at the supermarket on foot is not recommended in the middle of summer. To fully appreciate what the area has to offer, car hire is recommended. A regular bus service does run between Calpe and Moraira.

Distances:

The towns of Calpe and Javea are close and are well worth a visit for their beaches and port areas with bustling sea-food restaurants. Inland, the town of Jalon has 2 markets and you can visit its several bodegas. Benidorm is half an hour by car for lively evening cabarets, water parks and the Terra Mitica theme park. Further afield is the provincial capital, Alicante with its castle and beautiful port area and Valencia with its superb aquarium (3rd or 4th biggest in the world). It's amazing!

Further Details:

Moraira is a truly beautiful small town which has been nurtured into a chic resort popular with all nationalities. There are no high-rise hotels and ample free parking on the beach. It has numerous shops, coffee bars, ice cream parlours and a nightly evening market during the summer. There is a busy weekly market every Friday with everything from Spanish dresses to vegetables, leather bags to olives. There are restautants to suit all tastes and pockets, all in a wonderfully relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere. Moraira has a definite "buzz" during the summer evenings with many simply strolling around soaking in the beauty of the town, its beach or the stylish marina with its Club Nautico open to all (check out the boats). There are also two discos, some late night cocktail, wine and dance bars and for the kids there is a good sized funfair open every evening.

The spectacular Moors and Christians fiesta takes place around the 2nd week in June. Battles, fireworks and a great final parade. The town's patron fiestas are in the middle of July. Music, bulls, gigantic paellas for everyone and awesome fireworks.

Booking Notes:
To take advantage of cheaper mid-week flights, the villa can be booked any day of the week. A deposit of 25% is payable on booking. The outstanding amount should be paid 8 weeks before arrival. A security deposit of £200 is payable at the same time and will be returned within 1 week provided the house has been left in a satisfactory condition. Should the booking be made within 8 weeks of the day of arrival, then full payment, together with the security deposit must be paid.


Changeover Day:
Changeover day is any day of the week. Arrival is 1600 onwards, departure is 1000. If bookings allow, we are happy to be flexible on these times.

Notes on prices:
Prices for 2017 are payable in GB pounds.
Please note a supplement of £60 per week in the colder months is made to cover the cost of central heating.

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
