Ski Chalet in Chamonix, Les Houches, Haute Savoie / Rhone Alps, France - Quiet Area Of Les Houches, 5 Min Drive From The Local Ski Stations, 10 Min Drive To Chamonix Town

Completed in 2004, it’s a very comfortable chalet, with the additional space of a mezzanine on the 1st floor, a double height ceiling in the living area and a converted basement, it feels spacious and homely! Located in a residential area of Les Houches. 5 mins drive from the local ski lifts, and 10 mins from Chamonix. The chalet is part of a large chalet building split into 2, known locally as a demi-chalet! The accommodation is split over 3 floors, with private access and ample parking.

Nice chalet in quiet location

Semi detached chalet on the outskirts of Les Houches. Quite spacious, warm and comfortable, all essentials provided. Boot and ski room, parking space adjacent. Supermarket and ski bus stop a few minutes walk away and the centre of Les Houches is walkable as well. Enjoyed our time there.

Excellent chalet, will book again

We are a family of four with two kids (7&9) who ski regularly in Chamonix. This is one of, if not the best, chalet we've rented. Parking close to chalet, warm boot/kit room, well stocked kitchen (we don't eat out every night), bathroom (ie. not just shower room), open fire, close to shops, well furnished, small back garden for when kids want to play in the snow at the end of the day. For us, we've found the perfect chalet for what we need and will definitely be booking again. The owner is also great to deal with - inobtrusive but helpful when you need. The deposit was returned immediately and without any need for prompting which I greatly appreciate and not everyone does. Can't recommend enough (and thank you, we had a great week).

Well appointed spacious snow chalet

My family of 4 stayed at the chalet and we were all delighted with our experience. Location was in walking distance to the supermarket, village location close to the ski lifts, and large 3 storey with ample parking. The property was well equipped with fire underfloor heating sky TV and 3 double beds but more could have been made up. Plenty of games, comfy sofa. Dvds, ski dry room, dishwasher and much more. Everything you could ask for and the owner was very helpful when organising the stay would definitely recommend we had a fantastic time was sad to leave the beautiful spot

Summer in Les Houches

Chalet and location was fantastic with absolutely beautiful and dramatic views. Easy to find with good directions and parking. Chalet clean, comfortable and modern with little alpine decorations felt welcoming. Bedrooms comfortable and warm, children especially enjoyed the downstairs area (with t.v. and dvd, they had their own space) 2 x showers - handy with a family, kitchen compact with all utensils and crockery you'd need. Patio area with seating outside. Supermarket "Super U" in walking distance. Chalet in ideal location for touring around the area, Chamonix 15 minute drive, from their you can shop (Saturday market), cable cars for mountain walks. Drove to Lake Geneve "Evian" for the day, wonderful day out about 1 - 2 hrs away. Plenty of things to do, information in the chalet or good visitor centre in Les Houches. Altogether one of our best family holidays, and have booked our next trip to the chalet, this time to be in the snow and experience a skiing holiday.

Location, location, location

Well maintained and provisioned for a comfortable stay in the French Alps. Set in a beautiful location in the valley at the foot of Mt Blanc with stunning views all around. Easy access to all that the Chamonix area has to offer. Ventured up the Agile de midi, mer de glacé and swam in lac du passy amongst other days out. Chamonix is a 10 minute drive away, with the the local shops and restaurants/bars a short walk from the chalet door.

Un peu déçue par rapport aux photos, moins spacieux ,mais surtout la propreté du chalet

L'emplacement du chalet est idéal ,les extérieurs étaient parfaits,nous avons bien profité du jardin . Par contre le ménage était insuffisant ,les sanitaires étaient propres, mais le reste était poussiereux ,les chaises capitonnées étaient éventrées et sales . Nous avons dû mettre des serviettes éponge pour nous asseoir. Ce n'est pas normal, la literie inconfortable ,la machine à laver salie avec la lessive répandue un peu partout , la commode d'une chambre sale avec plein de traces suspectes ,la table du salon et de la salle à manger abîmées et usées,un fauteuil dans une chambre plein de poils, quelques pièces du mobilier seraient à remplacer !

Avant de sortir nos bagages ,nous nous sommes mis à faire un grand ménage ( aspirateur ,serpillère ,tirer les meubles pour découvrir des moutons de poussière ) .Au bout de 2 h de travail l'atmosphère était déjà plus agréable ! nous avions notre petite fille de 2 ans, et à cet âge là , la propreté est de rigueur . Pour accéder au souplex,l'escalier n'est pas sécurisé pour un enfant en bas âge .

La vaisselle et l'électroménager étaient en quantité suffisante et bien agencé.

Pour conclure ,il faudrait un rafraîchissement total du chalet ,quelques meubles remplacés et cela lui redonnerait un nouvel éclat vu son emplacement et la vue magnifique sur les aiguilles .

La station des Houches est très agréable et familiale ,les commerces à proximité ,nous avons profité des infrastructures ,de la base de loisir et des animations du village .

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to respond, we are glad you enjoyed your stay and I apologies personally if the chalet was not prepared correctly for you. All of your comments have been noted and will be addressed. Unfortunately, the agency looking after the chalet did not feedback that the chalet needed work on it or that the dining chair seat pads were fraying. We have now had a 'condition' report done, the chairs will be replaced before next season & the chalet will be freshened up. I have also spoken to agency regarding their cleaning schedule, which will be prepared more thoroughly from now on. Thank you again for staying at the frenchmountainchalet.co.uk
