Ski Chalet in Chamonix, Les Houches, Haute Savoie / Rhone Alps, France - Quiet Area Of Les Houches, 5 Min Drive From The Local Ski Stations, 10 Min Drive To Chamonix Town

Completed in 2004, it’s a very comfortable chalet, with the additional space of a mezzanine on the 1st floor, a double height ceiling in the living area and a converted basement, it feels spacious and homely..... ! Located in a residential area of Les Houches, a short 5 min walk to the Super U supermarket and bus stop. 5 mins drive from the local ski lifts, and 10 mins from Chamonix. The chalet is part of a large chalet building split into 2, known locally as a demi-chalet! The accommodation is split over 3 floors, with private access and ample parking.

About Dawn Lloyd

We bought the chalet while we had a stint living in the valley. I was on an extended 'year-out' and my husband was commuting to the UK. Enjoying the mountain lifestyle for a few years before we had kids, gave us a great knowledge of the mountains, sports and everyday life in the Chamonix Valley. We now get the best of both worlds, while living in Wales, and visiting the Chamonix Valley as often as we can.

Why Dawn Lloyd chose Les Houches

It is a lovely chalet. It's not massive, but it is perfect for a family with loads of sleeping space for everyone. I love it when you get everything into the bedrooms, and then you can just relax in the living area; with enough sleeping rooms that nobody ever sleeps in the living room - which is the case with a lot of properties accommodating the same number as us!

The location is also great, it's not a built up touristy area, but a quiet peaceful part of the village..... and we get sun all year round - which makes an enormous difference over the 6 weeks over Christmas... just 1hrs sun to warm up the house, defrost the car, have a cup of tea in the garden... yes it can get that hot for that 1hr... !

The location, although we are not close enough to walk to the slopes, there is plenty of parking at all the resorts. And, Parion benefits from heated lockers, so you can even leave your stuff their overnight if you are sticking to the same resort. The supermarket is only a 5min walk, so it's easy to nip in and out when you need to.

Les Houches is a really good family resort, the mountain is set up for all abilities and they have invested heavily into the infrastructure in recent years, and with the close link to the main route through the Valley and the Mt.Blanc Tunnel... you can challenge yourself to ski in as many resorts as you can in a week ... something new every day! Pop to Italy for a day's skiing... it's really easy, but I always find it so bizarre to suddenly be in an Italian ski resort, Italian restaurants, and remembering to switch to another language (from the chalet you can be parked up and at the ski station within an hour at Courmayeur)...

When you look out of the windows or look up from the garden, the view is really breathtaking.. your are at 1000mts, and the mountains roar up to 4810mts.....just take a deep breath and enjoy the view x

What makes this chalet unique

Priced as a 2 bed apartment, but you get a 3 bed chalet!

Originally a 2 bed small chalet; but we moved the kitchen into the garage and converted the basement for extra space. We also kept the double hight ceiling in the living areas, which makes the overall feel a lot more spacious.

Great location with a beautiful view and a comfortable place to stay

The chalet is in a great location for easy access to the mountains - just a walk up the road and you are there. It's also an easy walk to town, the grocery store and the bus route. We found the chalet to be clean (though not spotless), comfortable and cozy for 6 adults although the kitchen challenged us a little due to limited counter space for meal preparation. A minor problem was the lack of some kitchen utensils for cooking. A few more storage containers would have helped with storing leftovers. The owner was flexible, accomodating and easy to communicate with via email prior to our stay. Overall, a great place and definitely worth the price we paid.

Fantastic Chalet in a fantastic location!

We have recently returned from an enjoyable and fun, summer family holiday in the French Chalet, Les Houches, Chamonix Mont Blanc. As advertised, the chalet is located at the base of Mont Blanc and the views from the bedroom balcony and garden are spectacular! The accommodation is well equipped and very comfortable and the local neighbours were very friendly too. We were well informed at all stages of the booking and communications were excellent throughout. We would happily return to the Chalet in the future and would highly recommend! Thank you Dawn.

Great Chalet to stay at for our ski holiday

The Chalet was clean, warm and very comfortable with plenty of room for our party of five. There was everything you needed in the kitchen, lounge and bedrooms and with two showers made it easy for us getting ready to head out. Couldn't of asked for more this really is a gem of a find for any type of holiday stay.

We love Les Houches. Even though the snow wasn't great the skiing was excellent! The chalet was clean cosy and well equipped. Would definitely use again. Thank you Dawn!

A great property, in a great location with all of the fascilities you require

We had a great Christmas with plenty of skiing despite some poor snow in the local valley; very cold and lovely blue skis but now fresh snow! The property is excellent and has all that one requires for a comfortable stay. We will certainly book again - once the snow arrives. The local village is excellent.

Nice chalet in quiet location

Semi detached chalet on the outskirts of Les Houches. Quite spacious, warm and comfortable, all essentials provided. Boot and ski room, parking space adjacent. Supermarket and ski bus stop a few minutes walk away and the centre of Les Houches is walkable as well. Enjoyed our time there.
