About the property

Villa in Acqui Terme, Piedmont, Italy - Hill Position, 15 Min Walk From Town, 10 Min Walk from Spa Centre and In the Heart Of Wine Region

Villa Maddalena is an ideal holiday family house. It is set on a hill on the edge of the thermal town of Acqui Terme, in the heart of Piemontese area renowned for its wines and food. It is surrounded by a beautiful garden, a very comfortable swimming pool area, and many well-equipped outside dining and sitting areas. The house is within short driving distance from 4 main airports: Genoa, Milano Linate, Milano Malpensa and Turin. From the house one can reach the town on foot (15 to 20 minutes walk), or on a bicycle, and just at the bottom of the hill (5 minutes walk), there is a grocery shop, butcher, pharmacy, newsagent and ice cream shop, while the town itself offers excellent restaurants, music events, thermal water treatments, a huge outdoor swimming pool with gym lessons, local markets. To our guests we offer a 10% to 20% discounts for the beauty/SPA treatments at the SPA Centre down the hill from our house, and the possibility to have a Chef Service for lunches or dinners.

The house is on 2 floors: on the ground floor you find a large eat-in kitchen that opens up in front of the dining tables on one end and towards the living room on the other end. The living room has a large 18th century sofa, and another 2 smaller sofas, 4/ 5 chairs scattered around and a round table with another chair that we use like a desk. The inside dining room is hardly ever used in the summer, it has a dining table that can be enlarged with some extra boards, there is library with some books and VCRs. Further on there are 2 bedrooms: one is a double one and the other one is a 3 beds children bedroom, both open up towards the garden. Lots of toys are in the children bedroom. There are 2 bathrooms: one is ensuite to the double bedrrom but it can be shared with the children, is one wants, and the other one is between adjacent to the children bedroom. Indoor stairs and also outdoor stairs bring up to the second floor, where one finds first of all the single bedroom, and few steps further on after a corridor one finds a second living room opening up to a balcony overlooking the garden and the pool. On this second floor there are 2 areas: each has a double bedroom and a 2 twin beds bedroom, sometimes the tween beds are put together to make it a double bed. Also there are the 2 bathrooms for each of the 2 bedrooms.

Perfect for our family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We all loved this rambling flowery house on the edge of the non touristy acqui terme which still looked like a world heritage site to us! The mixed party of 13 (17-89 years old) were all comfortably accommodated with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. The house feels like a artistically decorated home rather than a holiday let. Lovely to sit outside on the long table in the evenings. The group of cousins could roam into town without the need for the car - they loved pizza rustica - the restaurant 20 mins walk up the hill behind the house. They occasionally found the weather a bit cooler than they needed for pool basking but the older ones found it just right for sightseeing. Barbara very helpful with advice re elderly father beforehand and close-by hospital turned out to be useful for another member of party. We hope to return soon.

The Most Beautiful Villa In Italy

  • 5 of 5

First and foremost we would like to express how amazing the people at this villa are, the staff was friendly and helpful. My wife and I actually got married in town and many of our wedding photos will be immortalized by background of the villa. We had our wedding dinner in the backyard and we will forever be grateful for such a beautiful setting! It really was picture perfect! The pool was a great place to hang out and we enjoyed it on more then one occasion. Everything in the villa worked amazing, the water was always hot and that is not always the case in places we have stayed. The town of Acqui Terme is a quaint little town with things to do for ALL ages. Beautiful hiking trails that we enjoyed and the beautiful sights we got to see were unforgettable! The food in town was amazing! Our personal favorite that is a MUST go to is Citui Bai! You won't regret it! All in all this Villa far exceeded our expectations and we would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone traveling to Acqui Terme! Enjoy this beautiful Villa and your time in Acqui Terme! Buon Vacanze!

holiday in Acqui Terme

  • 4 of 5

We spent a week in the villa in the summer of 2014 and beyond the fact one week was definitly too short, everything else was excellent.

Villa is nicely located in a quiet area but still at walking distance from the lovely city of Acqui Terme. Both hiking tours and cycling opportunities in the neighbourhood as well as a lot of touristic attractions, wine cellars and lovely places. Also the see side is within reach.

We also took advantage of the house cook and we were so satisfied we reserved him for a second evening.

We spent the week with 12 adults and two children and all got good accomodation. We sutrely will consider coming back to further explore the suroundings

Excellent location for family holiday

  • 4 of 5

This characterful and attractive villa, on a scenic hillside just outside the town, proved to be a great choice for our multi-generational family party of ten, with plenty of space for everyone and more than enough bathrooms, sitting and eating areas and so on. The well-maintained large gardens and swimming pool are lovely. The villa is within a 15 minute walk of Acqui's spa facilities, market, cafes and historic sights (the castle/museum is near the centre of town and well worth a visit). The very pleasant and efficient local manager gives excellent support. The owner provided lots of info about the surrounding countryside and attractions, but we didn't venture farther afield as we found plenty to do in the immediate area, including good local walks and high-quality tennis courts. We spent a relaxing afternoon at the local spa. Some of us travelled to and from Acqui by train, which proved straightforward – the town has good rail connections to Turin, Genoa and Milan. You could easily get by without a car if you didn't mind a certain amount of walking. Small food shops including a good bakery are only ten minutes walk away (uphill on the way back though!) All in all, a great holiday.

What a lovely place!

  • 5 of 5

First of all, the whole group was very, very pleased with the stay at Villa Maddalena. This was an ideal place for ten grownups. The house which had a great charm of its own, the quiet surroundings with the birds singing both at night and in the daytime, the piscine, the many shady places to sit end relax…..

Inside was all we needed, with plenty of bedrooms and nice bathrooms.

We also appreciated the walking distance to Acqui Terme, which was a charming city, with the old city and a calm and relaxed atmosphere.

I will make some comments chronologic:

The transfer from the airport and back to Milano was very good. We were picked up at the airport with no difficulties and the return were on schedule. To make it perfect, though, I missed some bottles of water or some cans of beer – during an almost two hours drive you get thirsty…………..

We had a very warm welcome by Maie, were shown around both the house and the surroundings. We were taken to the Bennett supermarket for shopping. Very good!

Maie organized lunch for us at hotel Rondo, where we were met with a very warm welcome and was served good wines and local food. So, all in all a very pleasant start!

The dinner at La Loggia was perfect. A nice restaurant with a good atmosphere, good local food and wines. We had some difficulties with the Italian language……

The visit to Villa dei Delfini was one of the highlights of our trip. What a marvelous place, and the three lovely sisters met us with all their charm and hospitality. Excellent surroundings, the food was superb and the wines just delicious. We had a wonderful afternoon.

The visit to Casina Collina was also a great experience, especially as we met fellow Norwegians. In fact they come from the same region as us. We got very good information concerning the wine production, the grapes and we tasted some lovely wines.

The transport was well and on schedule and very adaptive.

The weather, of course was a great bonus – we just had an exceptional week in the hot sun.

At last but not least, Barbaras service was just outstanding. It was been a pleasure to communicate with her, and I will surely recommend this place to all my aquanties.
