Beautiful home in the seaside fishing village of Duncannon Co.Wexford. House is extremely comfortable, recently re-decorated with new kitchen and heating system. Self-catering .The patio in the private rear garden is a heavenly place to sit on a sunny day. Enjoy breakfast outside and then take a short stroll to the beach for a swim. It doesn't get better than this! House overlooks Hook Lighthouse and Duncannon's sandy beach. Located just off the Main Street, near to shop, cafe, restaurants, pubs. Excellent pubs and restaurants in village, very family friendly. Close to lots of attractions, Hook Head Lighthouse, Duncannon Fort, JFK Arboretum, Wexford Heritage Park, Dunbrody Famine Ship and more. Golf courses within 10km. Popular beach for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Location is very popular with families and couples alike. Ideal location base for fishing or walking breaks.

About Donal Scahill

We have three young kids and find Duncannon the perfect family getaway. This house is fully equiped for a fun filled hoilday for both parents and children. For those with a love of the water wetsuits and boogie boards are left in the garden shed for use. We are proud of the presentation of the house and garden and have had excellent feedback from our guests.

Located in the sunny south east of Ireland, Duncannon is a pretty seaside village within easy reach of Wexford town and Waterford city. There are endless activities in this part of Ireland and with the stunning scenary surrounding the village there is no better place to visit.

What makes this unique

Most of our guests so far have travelled from England by ferry and car and all have enjoyed arriving at our house where they can leave the car and take a short stroll to the nearby pubs and restaurants.There are two pubs, two coffee shops an award winning restaurant all within a five minute stroll. A pizzeria is promised for this summer and a visitor centre with a coffee shop is open seasonally in Duncannon fort. However with a recently renovated kitchen and a barbeque its just as pleasant to eat at home. Activities in this area include golf, kite surfing, fishing, pony riding and many historical sites that are well worth a visit.

Great property in a lovely location

My husband and I booked this cottage for a long weekend but wished we could have stayed longer. It is very comfortable and well equipped with everything you could possibly need, cosy for the two of us but plenty of space for a family. The location is great with the beach and local pubs,which serve good food only 5 minutes walk away. I would highly reccomend this property.

Fabulous house in a fantastic location

My family and I were impressed with the light and airy feel to this spacious holiday home. The house was immaculately presented and had everything we needed for our stay. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated and the master suite was a perfect adult retreat. The sun trap garden was safe and secure in which our toddlers could play. The beach was so close by, a real highlight of our daily routine. The village of Duncannon is charming with plenty of good quality food and drink options, suitable for family budgets. The playground was large and had plenty to keep the kids occupied. The local area is an easy drive to explore and the lighthouse is a must see.I cannot recommend this holiday home highly enough. I will definitely be booking in again. A real home away from home. Thanks.

Week in Duncannon

We arrived in Duncannon on 12th July and were not disappointed by this house! It was spacious and bright and very clean. The location and layout were exactly as promised and we were able to walk down to the beach every day. We loved the nautical theme running through the decor of the house. The kids loved the bunk beds! The master bedroom and living room/patio had a fabulous view of Hook Lighthouse at night - the children enjoyed counting the flashes! Duncannon is a lovely little village with an excellent, not too crowded beach. There are two pubs in the village and a fish and chip takeaway/cafe. We would recommend going to Dunbrody House's 'The Local Pub', which is a mere 5 minutes drive away. The food is simple but excellent and with every main course under 10 euro, with kids 5 euro, it suits any budget. The kids portions were massive! The village has one shop, but there is a Centra about 5 minutes drive away, which has a better selection of goods. The children's play park was very good, and we especially loved the fitness equipment on the other side of the court! We paid a visit to Hook Lighthouse and took the guided tour, which was excellent. Ballyhack Castle is also worth a visit for its guided tour. On our one wet morning, we visited the swimming pool in Wexford town, which we would highly recommend as it was extremely clean and good value for money. Duncannon is a lovely quiet place with a good beach and we would definitely consider returning both to Duncannon and to 2 Plunkett Court.
