Overview

Property

Updated: 16-Nov-2016
Apartment in Kastel Stari, Nr. Split &Trogir, Dalmatian Coast, Croatia - It Is A Relaxing Atmosphere & Only Meters From The Beach, Warm Adriatic & Centre of the Village

The light and spacious ground floor apartment is all on one level. It has air-conditioning and room fans and every facility that you would possibly need while enjoying your holiday on this beautiful part of the Dalmation Coast.

Bedroom

The bedroom has a super-king, 180cm sized bed with matching furniture. Two bedside tables, wardrobe and chest of 4 draws. The sofa in the living room also opens to a double bed.

Kitchen

The fully functional modern kitchen has a new induction hob and oven, microwave, toaster, fridge/freezer and all the utensils you need whilst enjoying your stay. There is also English tea and coffee is provided.

Living room

The spacious living area has a large oval dining table, a tv unit with 21" flat screen tv, DVD and radio/cd players. The tv daily puts on good English spoken programmes and the radio plays some great pop. There is a book case with a selection of books and some games and tourist brochures in the draws of the tv unit. If you should fancy some time relaxing at home.

Bathroom

The bathroom has a large shower cubicle with sliding doors, wc, a sink with tall lit mirror and shaver point. It also houses the washing machine.

Hall

There is an iron & ironing board, vacuum cleaner and hair dryer in the cupboard in the hall.

Outside

At the front of the building a parking space is allotted in Bay III, though it is not essential to have a car as everything you need is nearby and public transport is very good, If and when you want to see Split or Trogir or get a ferry to one of the Islands. It's the 37 bus. I always suggest to guests if they wish to see more of this beautiful country. Once they decide where to go they get the bus to the airport and hire a car for the days they want rather than have it sit in the parking bay for days not used.

In the private secluded garden. I have planted rose trees, a rosemary hedge and threaded ivy through a trellis. On the south side grape vines grow up a frame to give a dappled shade from the sun. There is a field of fruit trees behind our garden so it is not overlooked. There is a bbq for toasting your freshly caught fish bought from the little market 2 minutes walk away.

On the other side is the balcony where you can sit in the evening and sip a glass or two of good local wine or a cool Croatian beer and watch the sun go down. All the cafe bars and restaurants have free WiFi.

About the Owner

My name is Madeleine Jenkins. The photo is me on the right and Austrian friends that I met in Kastela, sitting on my balcony on a warm summers evening. We still meet up.

I was born in London and now live not far in Essex. I have a gorgeous daughter and 2 lovely grandsons, one of whom is at university the other will start secondary soon. Some years ago my partner and I set off in a VW van round Europe. We went through 11 countries in the 3 weeks. We traveled down the Dalmatian coast and woke one morning in Kastela Bay. What a wonderful sight to behold. The morning sun shining on the calm turquoise sea. The old white stone buildings of Kastel Stari hail-owed by the back drop of the majestic Kozjak mountain. The local people too were friendly and helpful. So here I remain.

What a wonderful holiday. The apartment was just what we were hoping for and perfectly located. Spent lot of time relaxing on beach & at the many cafe's & restaurants in Kastel Stari. Loved swimming under waterfalls in Krk National Park. Would also recommend Trogir for atmosphere & restaurants. Thanks so much Madeleine for all your help & superb accommodation.

Summer in Kastel Stari.

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to Croatia and found Kastel Stari and it's surrounding area a lovely place to stay.

The apartment is really home from home and has every thing anyone would need to make a very comfortable stay. Kastel Stari itself and the surrounding Kastelas are great to explore and not overly commercialised. The apartment is ideally placed for the beach, shops, bars/ restaurants and the bus service which is frequent and cheap to either Split or Trogir.

Very comfortable and in a quiet location

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this apartment would certainly recommend it, very clean and well equipped. The location is perfect for the beach, restaurants, supermarket and quaint little daily market offering local produce. We visited Trogir and Split using the local bus where the bus stop is only a few yards away. Would recommend a visit to both but Trogir was our favourite. Marija who met us at the apartment on our arrival was so helpful. We would certainly love to return in the future.

Lovely apartment in a perfect little Croatian town

  • 5 of 5

I first stayed at Madeline's apartment with 3 of my girlfriends in 2011. We wanted a beach holiday with the opportunity to see some of Croatia. The apartment was perfect - clean, lovely garden and everything you can need. On the first day, we were picked up by the owners from the airport and taken for a beer so we could see the beach. Kastel Stari is a gorgeous little town with great restaurants and a lovely beach. The location is great for seeing more of Croatia - easy to get the bus to Split and from there take a boat to the islands (definitely reccommend). We also spent a day in Trogir, again very easy to get to on the bus. All of this was so great that i returned in 2012 with my parents who loved it just as much as me and my friends did. Madeline is really friendly and helpful and we enjoyed a nice drink with her one night :) All in all, great apartment, lovely owner, fab location.

Location

From the Owner

We bought the property here in Kastel Stari firstly because of the scenery, the history and local people. Then found that flights from Londons and other airports to Split were very reasonable and take just 2 hours 10 minutes. Being just 15 minutes from Split airport makes the journey very pleasant. Though a fishing village there is everything close to hand. The supermarkets, the shops, the bars, the restaurants, the beach and even the bus stop. A car is not essential. We moved in before it was completed and were the first residents in the 3 story apartment block. The builder lives in the village. Brand new underground pipes were laid, pavements built and roads resurfaced a few years ago which has made life even more pleasant.

Location

The apartment is easily located just 15 minutes (5k) from Split airport. By taxi (cost approx £10), Car hire, or 37 Bus. Turn left out of airport and the straight road (Dr Franja Tudmana) that passes through 2 towns Kastel Stafillic, Kastel Novi and take a right turn down to the sea in Center of Kastel Stari.

Coast/Beach:

The shale beach, warm Adriatic sea, park, supermarket, bars, shops and restaurants are just steps away. Take a stroll through the narrow streets of the old stone buildings in the town and peer into the shops to discover what is being sold there. In less than 2 mins. you'll be in the market square where you can buy fresh fish and daily picked vegetables to take back for lunch. Or, just sit with a coffee and watch the fishermen come in. Later take a dip in the warm Adriatic or sunbathe on the beach with a book.

Travel & Distances:

If you fancy a trip to the historic UNESCO world heritage cities the 37 bus will take you to Trogir 12k. Or, in the other direction Croatia's second city Split 15k. The bus stop is 50mtrs. walk & the bus passes approx. every 20 minutes.

At Split you can visit the famous Diocletian Palace, a museum or perhaps take a ferry to one of the many islands to taste their wonderful wines. In Trogir meander the narrow marbled streets or sit by the quay & gaze at the millionaires enormous yachts & dream.

Further Details:

There is a lot to interest visitors to Kastela Bay. Sailing, windsurfing, fishing, rent a bike, visit Krk National Park, various festivals, historical churches and museums etc. Or just rent a pedalo on a hot afternoon and taste a different flavour ice cream every day.

Facilities

From the Owner

The apartment is very bright, airy and spacious with patio doors to the balcony and to the garden as well as windows on 2 sides of the corner plot. If shade is needed in the hotter days of summer then the shutters can be pulled down to give a cooler feel. Though the doors need to be closed if the air conditioner is on. The garden has grape vines growing up the trellis to provide some shade and ivy threaded through the fence on the other to give seclusion. But the backdrop view of the mountains sloping down to the sea is still a sight to behold.
