About the property

FR8103

Le Rosier has a lovely open fireplace, while the original manger in Chez Anatole gives a taste of the property's past. They are in a typical Charentais courtyard, surrounded by a stone wall. The small market town of Rouillac, with its restaurants, is only 5km away. Both Jarnac 10km and Cognac 25km offer the opportunity to take boat trips on the river Charente or taste the local specialty in one of the cognac houses. Historic Angoulême is only 25 km away. For those who want to venture further, an hour's drive will take you to the coast or into the Dordogne. Golf, horse-riding and swimming are among the sporting activities to be found in the area.

About Steve or Linda Tetlow

We moved to this lovely village 20 years ago and certainly have no regrets. We both work in the area and are well integrated in the community, Linda is even a local councillor! We love following the seasons with the changes in the vineyard and harvesting is always an exciting time with some lovely, intoxicating aromas.

Steve or Linda Tetlow purchased this cottage in 1990

Why Steve or Linda Tetlow chose Charente

We chose the village because we have the advantage of living in the country, but with three towns within easy reach - Jarnac, Cognac and Angoulême. The area itself has become more easily accessible by plane now, with cheap flights to the airports of Limoges, La Rochelle and Poitiers, all around one and a half hours away.

What makes this cottage unique

The Charente has the second-highest number of hours of sunshine after the south of France, so there is ample opportunity for you to just relax in the peace and quiet of our courtyard and enjoy a glass of wine, either with a meal or sunbathing on a lounger. If you want to be more energetic, golf, horse-riding and canoeing are some of the sports available. The Atlantic coast is an hour away or if you prefer there are several lovely spots where you can sit by the river Charente and also go for a swim.

Very nice and had everything we needed

  • 4 of 5

The accommadation was very clean, and had all required utensils. Linda and Steve were very pleasant and welcomed us with a lovely bottle of vin rouge! The accommadation is excellently located for visiting the surrounding countryside, and is close to Bordeaux, Angouleme, Cognac, and La Rochelle and the rest of the coast.

We would highly reccommend it.
