Cottage in Peacehaven, Nr. Brighton, Sussex - Coastal Location, 10 Minutes From Brighton And On The Edge Of The South Downs National Park

A beautifully restored cottage on the Sussex coast, 5 miles to the east of Brighton. The cottage, known as 'Weatherall' is positioned just yards from the chalk cliff with stunning 180 degree sea views. The cottage has been refurbished to a very high standard and has been furnished in a sympathetic beach cottage style and provides ample accommodation for families or groups of adults alike. Clifftop and coastal walks can be taken directly from the cottage and good beaches are plentiful with Saltdean's classic Lido beach complex, only a mile away and Brighton with its pier and long promenade 10 minutes by car. For walkers there is the beautiful South Downs National Park just a few miles away with the famous Severn Sisters and Beachy Head Lighthouse. Water sports abound in the area with surfing, hang and paragliding all available. Good restaurants and pubs can be found nearby and buses between Brighton and Eastbourne run every 10 minutes from close to the cottage. Free WIFI broadband.

About The Owner

Myself (Mike) and my wife Yvonne are now both retired and we really enjoy being able to share our home with our guests. Its been a real pleasure letting the cottage as a holiday let and we have met some wonderful people, some who return year after year. Each year we try to add something extra to the cottage to make our guests experience even more pleasurable.

We like to handle our bookings directly with our guests and provide a personal service.

Why The Owner chose Peacehaven

I purchased the property at auction in 2009, myself and my wife Yvonne fell in love with it as soon as we saw it, it was its location that we loved most as the cottage itself was pretty run down but with over 12 months hard work we have got it back to its glory days. Its great when people walk past the cottage and remark how good the cottage is looking once again. We would love to share the cottage with other people, especially those who like us have a passion for being close to the sea.

What makes this cottage unique

The most unique feature of the property is its stunning cliff top location, with very few houses in a comparable location on such a nice large plot. Being able to step outside your door and take a coastal walk along the sea is just wonderful.

Notes on accommodation: The cottage provides excellent spacious and comfortable accommodation for up to 6 - 7 guests in a stunning location ideal for those who love the coast and all it has to offer.Broadband provided.Travel cot available. Please note as the property is situated in a quiet residential area the property is not suitable for groups of young adults. Outside: The cottage is surrounded by a walled garden with great sea views - and a lovely decked terrace which leads out from the dining room. Garden furniture and a barbecue are available. Also has a summerhouse and patio area at the rear and a large driveway for 3-4 cars. Utility Room: Off the kitchen, a separate Utility/Boot room with separate WC and basin, Belfast sink, tumble dryer and second fridge. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Clean towels (bath and hand) bedlinen and tea towels are provided and changed weekly. Cottage is cleaned weekly prior to and upon departure of guests. The kitchen comes fully stocked with sauces spices dishwashing tablets washing up liquid etc etc. Other: Separate dining room off kitchen with stunning sea views, which comfortably accommodates 6 and has a classic 1960's cocktail bar. Also to the front of the cottage is a sun lounge, where guest can enjoy the views while reclining in comfortable chairs.

We had an amazing week. The cottage is clean and well equipped sleeping 6 comfortably. There are plenty of amenities nearby including takeaways and supermarket. Walk down the esplanade to see the giant ammonites on the beach. Easy bus service to Brighton, Eastbourne and beyond. The pics on the website don't do the view justice! Totally rejuvenated from this peaceful holiday. I'm checking my diary as we speak for a second visit...

We stayed at Weatherall last year and could not wait to return. House is comfortable, well equipped, and cosy. Location is perfect and sea views can be enjoyed even in adverse weather thanks to the conservatory and summer house which has been added this year. Owner is very friendly and helpful and makes the whole booking process easy and hassle free. Our dog loves it there too and the garden is child and pet safe.

The coast is directly in front of the cottage with a pebble beach and promenade, it is apparently an excellent place to go fossil hunting. A mile away is Saltdean with its iconic Lido beach complex with lifeguards on duty during the school summer holidays. Further along the coast is Brighton with its marina, beach, aquarium, pier and much more.


Gatwick airport is 30 minutes away by car, London about an hour. Newhaven ferry port is 5 minutes away with daily ferries from Dieppe. A regular bus service between Brighton and Eastbourne passing close to the cottage means a car is not essential.


Saltdean is a mile away, historic Rottingdean 2 miles away, Brighton 5 miles away, Eastbourne 10 miles away and historic Lewes with its castle, 7 miles away.

Further Details:

Brighton Marina is only 10 minutes away by car, it has a multiplex cinema and plenty of excellent shops, bars and restaurants as well as free parking!

If you look out of the cottage to the left you can see the Prime Meridian Monument erected in 1936 by the townsfolk of Peacehaven to recognise the spot where the 0 degree line of longtitude leaves our shores.

Booking Notes:
The preferred payment method is by bank transfer (BACS) although we do accept payment by cheque and Paypal - please feel free to call us direct on landline 01737357026 or mobile 07931 391291 if you wish to discuss. A deposit of 20% is required at time of booking with the balance due 8 weeks before arrival. A security deposit will also be charged of £150 which will be refunded 5 working days after departure subject to a satisfactory post stay inspection.

Changeover Day:
Saturday check in from 3.00 pm - 4.00pm check-out by 10.00 am. Can be flexible to meet guests particular needs.

Notes on prices:
Price range from £745 to £1395 per week for up to 6 guests. A 7th guest can be accommodated for an extra £125 per week. Please contact us for a confirmed rate, for booking conditions please visit our web site (shown below). We do at the owners discretion charge a surcharge for pet dogs.
Bookings are only accepted for a minimum of a week.
Discounts are provided for longer term lets i.e. in excess of 2 weeks.
