About the Owner

We are hardworking parents with two sons. We have enjoyed holidays in Turkey for many years and in that time, have made lots of friends and look forward to catching up with them in each visit. Like most families, we long for our holidays and having tried package holidays and latterly private villa holidays, we found that a villa holiday best suited our needs and desires so much so, we bought our own. We suit ourselves as to where, when and what we eat; we have privacy at our own pool and BBQ and only have a short walk to the sea and local shops and restaurants; we have ample beds, bedrooms, comfort, sun, shade, indoor and outdoor space to meet our own family requirements. Our holidays are relaxing and move at a pace set only by us - that's the beauty of a villa holiday.

Peaceful and relaxing. Just as described.

  • 4 of 5

The villa was as described, felt like home from home very clean with plenty of bedding, towels, beach towels etc. When it said beach towels provided I never expected a pile of over 20.

The area is very quiet with friendly neighbours. We had a wonderful time chilling by the pool, with only a short walk to the beach and supermarket. The restaurant Blue was a 5 minute walk away and we spent quite a few enjoyable evenings wining and dining there. It was easy to get to Altinkum on the dolmus for a lively night out or serious shopping.

The owner was wonderful to deal with and very helpful with any information we needed.

I only wish we had booked for longer and would recommend to family and friends.

Owner's Response: Thank you for such a complimentary and positive review. It's really good to know that our description of the villa reflects what you found. We aim to give our guests a home from home experience in a family friendly villa. As for the abundance of beach towels, well, you can never have too many, can you? Just let's say that we ensure there's plenty beach towels to go round and fresh ones available for new arrivals on changeover day, who may be hot on the heels of your departure.. Blue Restaurant is a treat to have so nearby with lovely food and drink, and of course their friendly and attentive staff. Thanks again for choosing our villa and for recommending us to family and friends. We hope you return to our villa at some point in the future..

Location

From the Owner

Villa Esma is located on the outskirts of Altinkum, in a quieter part of town called Yesilkent, translated as ‘Green Town’. Yesilkent is set on a peninsula backed by lush, green countryside, surrounded by the warm Aegean sea, with views across to Akbuk bay and mountains beyond. The villa is situated on a quiet and pretty street, with friendly seasonal and residential neighbours of various nationalities. The road into Yesilkent terminates in the village itself, therefore there is no through traffic. Some entrances to the village are gated, making the area safe and quiet. A short five minute ride on the dolmus (minibus) which costs about seventy pence and runs about every fifteen minutes (during peak season), will take you to the bustling Altinkum beach front and town centre.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Beach : Ladybird Beach at 300 Metres Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

Yesilkent boasts two beaches, offering sunbeds, umbrellas and watersports. One of the bays has a sweep of soft golden sand and clear shallow waters (ideal for children). Both beaches have café bars serving snacks, meals and cool drinks, helping to make any day at the beach hassle free. Another nearby beach has a jetty, sunbeds, and a cafe area (June - Sept). You may prefer sunbathing at one of the many small sandy coves which can be found between the beaches and along the nearby coastline.

Further Details:

Altinkum is a bustling town offering unlimited bars, restaurants, cafes, shops, nightlife, a Marina, and 3 sandy beaches with the availability of all types of watersports. Altinkum is translated as ‘Golden Sands’ and certainly lives up to its name. Main Beach is an enormous soft golden sandy bay with clear shallow water, and is backed by a pedestrianised promenade lined with shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. Many live entertainment.

The main shopping district of Altinkum is called Didim, which is set back from the main beach. Here you will find banks, bureau-de-changes, tourist offices, car hire, doctor’s surgeries, pharmacies, a huge open-air Saturday market, and a variety of shops including three large supermarkets. A worldwide historical landmark is also situated here – the Temple of Apollo.

Dolphin Square is the hub of town activity with a children’s play area surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants with alfresco dining, so adults can enjoy a meal or drink and keep an eye on their kids playing nearby. This area is also the hub for dolmus (minibus) links to other parts of town – a very inexpensive and efficient method for travelling around.

There is a harbour which has waterside bars and cafes, and boats offering day trips - negotiate prices for trips all inclusive of food and drinks. A variety of sightseeing and boat trips can be booked from the many tourist offices or at the harbour.

On the outskirts of town lies the Aqua Park, with slides and rides for all.

The best sunset can be seen from a village just outside the main centre of Altinkum called Mavisehir. A small fishing village with an extensive daily market from 4pm til 10pm (May-Sept), pavement cafes and restaurants line the promenade from which you can take in the spectacular views of the sunset. It also offers several play areas, a long pier with seats (ideal for fishing) and a good fish restaurant set on the headland. Catch the dolmus directly from Yesilkent to Mavisehir throughout the day.
