You will also find a pear/apple fruit. Just behind the villa is a vineyard and olive grove.

There is a barbecue, sun loungers and rattan furniture. A large umbrella compliments the outside area and allows you to enjoy the cool shade whilst eating fresh locally produced food.

Additionally there is an area to enjoy a glass of wine or coffee by the outside fountain with sofa and chairs. On the gravel area are sun loungers which attract the sun all day. There is nothing better than reading a book whilst enjoying a cold beer or glass of wine looking up at the trees and enjoying the cool shade.

For the less energetic top quality wines, olive oil, homemade cheeses, salamis, meats, sea food, mushrooms. Shoes and handmade leather designer handbags normally only available to the Italian market at Italian not tourist prices.

About Louisa

My husband I live in England with our daughters Sofia-Clara and Katie. We love Italy and enjoy spending time there. It isn't always easy because of work commitments but when we can our first stop is Villa Sofia. Being in Italy allows us time to spend as a family. Laughing, playing with our daughters and just having fun together. We have many friends in Faicchio and spending time with them is important to us. We love to entertain and are just as happy to sit and relax in the beautiful surroundings of our home. Italy has a special place in all our hearts and we couldn't imagine being without it.

We love the sound of the birds, hearing the wind through the trees and generally relaxing at Villa Sofia. Our only complaint is that we cant spend more time there. We genuinely love it.

Louisa purchased this villa in 2010

Why Louisa chose Benevento area

We have always wanted to buy a property in Faicchio. It is close to our family and friends. When we drove up the private drive towards Villa Sofia we were just taken with its location. The house itself needed a major overhaul but we had imagination.

It is just so peaceful staying at the house. It is quite, private and a wonderful place to stay. Faicchio has everything we could want. Supermarkets, bars, restaurants and the knowledge of knowing that Sofia-Clara and Katie are safe to play outside and enjoy nature.

We can also pop into Naples, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast to enjoy the most beautiful tourist sites Italy has to offer. 2.5 hours away is Rome. So easy to get to and visit. For us it is an ideal location because it has everything. Authentic Italy and famous sites to visit.

What makes this villa unique

What we lovely so much about Villa Sofia is its location. It is so private and peaceful we cant really put it into words. It has to be experienced. Waking up in the morning to the sound of birds is just so special. We love the fact that whilst it is off the beaten track we can still visit tourist sites easily. On top of that faicchio offers so much. Shops, bars, restaurants all selling local produce. When we say local produce we mean it. It is a very good price and excellent quality.

When we want to go out and eat we have a lovely choice of two restaurants close by. Il Sauro restaurant with the most fantastic views of the monastery and Faicchio. It is set in vineyards and the food is wonderful. We recently had a meal there, two starters, four pizzas and wine for 37 euros. So cheap but wonderful. Such a relaxing place to enjoy a meal. La Luccila is lovely. The food is good and again resonably priced. If you are travelling with children you will find a small park area there for them to play.

The villa itself is well equipped. Because when we visit I like to have everything around me especially in the kitchen. I have equipped Villa Sofia as if I was staying there all year round. It is our home and we offer the convenience of that to our guests. I want to make sure our guests enjoy their stay at our villa and I am more than happy to answer any questions and be as accommodating as I can. Please enjoy your time at Villa Sofia and all comments are welcomed.

Guestbook comments from the owner

As we ask all our guests to independently review our property we have decided to use this section to say thank you to all our guests for their lovely comments. In the villa we have a comments book and we are always touched by the lovely things people say about our villa. We are so pleased that the majority of people feel that it is a home from home and so well equipped. They always say they feel privledged to be allowed to stay but it is us, the owners, who are privledged. We are lucky to have guests that enjoy and take care of our villa as we would. So thank you very much for looking after our home and enjoying its wonderful personality and surroundings. We hope to see you all again soon.

Great!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Sofia, which feels like a real home away from home from the moment you arrive. Situated down a quiet country lane, a 5min drive from nearby Faicchio, it is a peaceful and private spot and has lots of outdoor space for kids and adults of all ages to enjoy, (and is the only place we've stayed which has its own hammock!) The house is equipped with all mod cons including air con, a huge fridge and is supplied with lots of good books, films and music to suit everyone.

For those interested in exploring the surrounding region, this is best done by car and there are lots of ideas and reviews available to peruse in the guest book.

We'd be happy to recommend Casa Sofia and it's helpful owner Louisa, who made the booking experience so easy.

Immaculate villa!

  • 5 of 5

Had a lovely 9 days at Villa Sofia. Lovely modern interior with great bathrooms and immaculate throughout. It was unusually hot when we were there so the air conditioning was very much appreciated! Pool is not large but perfect for a cooling dip. Outside area is great for relaxing and eating. Il Sauro restaurant within 5 minute walk was fabulous and very reasonable. Louisa was great to deal with - we had a couple of issues with the hot water but Louisa dealt with it very quickly and kept us informed. If you want to go somewhere less touristy but within easy reach of Rome, Pompeii etc this is the perfect place - thanks Louisa!

Interesting location

Real shame that two of the three restaurants within walking distance appeared to have closed down.

Pool was popular with the kids

A good taste of real Italy

Owner's Response: It is a shame that Il Cortesano Restaurant has closed. It was my favourite restaurant. Il Sauro though is very popular and a lovely restaurant with good food. This is just a two minute walk from the villa. I have also heard that Il Cortesano will be reopening under new management. So exciting changes coming up.

Little gem!! Amazing tranquil family holiday

  • 5 of 5

Clean, tidy, spacious, well equipped villa for an amazing family holiday. All the mod con's and deluxe family bathrooms. Wifi and TV was an added bonus but just enjoying a swim in the pool, relax in the hammock and breakfast on the patio. My husband enjoyed cooking on the BBQ while the children were playing on the swings. Lovely local walks to the restaurant and the village had everything you needed. Helpful and polite too. We loved seeing all the sights around which weren't too far away. Thank you Louisa for all your guided help and tips!!
