About the Owner

We are a "youngish" couple who built a lovely home

that we cannot live in unfortunately. Thus decided to

give other people the opportunity to do so. I'm

Marina, short, brown hair, brown eyes. My husband is

tall, slightly overweight, grey hair, brown eyes.

We have three children, (that are starting to drive us

slightly insane) but we love them anyway. I think its

important to mention that we are easy going and do not fuss over little things.

Exactly what we wanted

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in villa Marina in August , it was exactly what we wanted .spacious clean and the pool was beautiful .

It had everything we needed.if we had any questions ,which were few Marina answered them very quickly.

This was the sixth time that we have stayed in Cyprus and it was definitely the most relaxing.it was stress free from beginning to end .

Kathikas is a beautiful village with a small shop, bar and a few restaurants within 5mins walk . Everyone we met were friendly and helpful.

There isn't anything negative I can say , and we will be staying in villa Marina again, very soon I hope.

A big THANKYOU John ,Hazel ,Ella and Maddie Verden

Lovely family holiday

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely relaxing holiday at villa marina.

It was like a home from home everything we needed was there.

On arrival the villa was clean with all the essentials needed to avoid us needing to find a supermarket straight away.

We had planned on lots of sight seeing but our children, aged 16, 11 & 10 just wanted to play in the pool or have a game of table tennis.

Highly recommend the local village tavernas especially Imogen's, added bonus is it's walking distance so you can sample the local wines.

Would also recommend the owners restaurant The Moorings, not walking distance but worth the journey, fantastic food & a menu that means everyone will find something they like; also brill place if you have younger children as there is a play area, great idea.

We had such a lovely time we are hoping to return next summer

Great spacious house, owners are genuine kind people willing to help with anything needed, also the weather in Kathikas is so much better then downtown Paphos due to the altitude that was a really pleasant surprise!! We were 5adults and 2 kids and the house was still more than comfortable, and of course clean and comfortable, all the furniture is nice : the sofas, the beds etc

I recommend this place to anyone, 5* !!

Villa Marina

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five spent three days at Villa Marina, and had a great time. The villa, on three floors, is spacious, comfortable and extremely well-equipped. It was spotlessly clean on our arrival. Each of our three teenagers was thrilled to have a large bedroom to him/herself, plus a deluxe shared bathroom. Our master bedroom with its en suite shower room was perfect. The weather in April was too cold to use the pool, but it looked extremely inviting! We enjoyed sitting in the sun on the various balconies. The washing machine was very useful, and enabled us to travel light! And next to the washing machine (at ground level) was the pool table and ping pong table, which the kids loved!

Marina and Panicos stocked the villa with essential foodstuffs (tea, coffee, milk, eggs, etc.) before we arrived, which was greatly appreciated. In fact, Marina and Panicos couldn't have been more helpful, and were always friendly and attentive: first, all preliminary communications with Marina by e-mail were completely satisfactory -- no question (and I had a lot!) went unanswered. Then, when we arrived, and felt chilly in the evening (the house was still a bit cold from the winter) Marina lit a log fire for us (the central heating panel left us all baffled!) and Panicos came the next morning to switch on and regulate the heating. We were helped, too, by Panicos' nice aunt next door, which was very convenient!

Kathikas itself is very pleasant, and has a wealth of good restaurants to choose from (I believe there are six!). We ate at Imogen's Tavern and Yiannis' Tavern, both of which had excellent food and warm and friendly service. We told Yiannis that we loved the olives and he presented us with some when we got up to leave. Like Marina and Panicos -- indeed, like 99% of the people we encounted in Cyprus -- he was charming, open and generous. We also went to Marina and Panicos' restaurant on the Paphos waterfront, The Moorings, and had a very pleasant meal, with Panicos determined that everything should be just right -- recommended!

Kathikas was a good base for exploring western Cyprus: we explored the Avakas Gorge, visited Paphos and Latchi, and had a great day walking in the Akamas peninsula, which is glorious. Many of the nearby villages have charming old centres, and pretty churches. That said, I can imagine lazy summer days spent by and in the pool, with no need to leave the village!

In summary, we highly recommend Villa Marina, and its exceptionally nice owners!

Villa Marina

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at 11.15pm to a very welcoming Villa Marina. In the morning we explored the villa (properly this time). A wonderful place with a wonderful pool and wonderful hosts who came to introduce themselves.

Very clean and lots of space. We had a BBQ on the Saturday and about 25 people turned up. I should explain that we were in Cyprus for one of our Godsons weddings at a wedding villa near Peyia. Using both of the BBQs we fed and watered them from 1am until 8pm. They all loved the villa inside and out and the pool. It was great that there were so many chairs and tables, not to mention all the plates and cutlery. The table tennis was great and it was useful having the downstairs loo. (the bath was full of water, ice and alcohol).

Location was brilliant and please talk to your neighbours. Auntie next door was lovely and we joined them for coffee and were given a large melon. Auntie also relayed messages from Marina which was nice.

Make the effort and go to their Restaurant ‘The Moorings’. Easy to find as long as you do not ask the other restaurants as they tend to send you to the farthest point each way from it. Drive into Paphos taking the left turn to the seafront and look out for the Bus Station on your right. Huge free car park. Walk down to the front and turn left. The Moorings about 5minutes on the left hand side. (near the blue estate agents). We arrived to a lovely cool restaurant and were welcomed by Marina and her husband. Greeted as old friends. The food was excellent and well laid out by someone with a flair. Cocktails are large and varied and the price was exceptional. If you go out the front of the house and follow the dirt track, turn left after a couple of minutes into another car park and you will find yourself in the middle of the village. The shop /taxi is ok for quick items to get you started and the fresh bread everyday is great. Andrea’s taxi is clean and not expensive and he will pick you up outside the villa. We went to Imogens restaurant and it was ok, but for us by far the better was Yannis, Go on a Tuesday evening. A huge buffet of probably everything to eat in Cyprus, cold mezes with meat and fish (the octopus was brilliant), lots of different hot food and finishing with the deserts. Entertained by the dancers where you will be expected to join in, children as well. Four of us drinking wine and beer and the cost 76 euros including coffee, and then a free liqueur or brandy of our choice. Excellent.

Aphrodite's Rock
Local Beach

From the Owner

We decided to build the property in Kathikas because we thought it to be a good investment at the time. We love the village life style, the locals and of course the country side. We actually stay at the villa when we have no bookings during the winter months. My husband loves mushroom hunting, and working in his vineyards. Unfortunately producing grapes is not very profitable thus we have a restaurant in the busy tourist area of Kato Paphos.(making it impossible to live up in the village) Its a place where one can really relax.

Facilities

From the Owner

Villa Marina is a house where one can have privacy without been in the middle of no where! It is entirely enclosed. The swimming pool is private. Everything in Kathikas is in walking distance. The local taverns, the coffee shops, the pub, the local bank. The villa is not situated near any main roads, thus been dangerous for young children, and noisy. The Local church is also very close to the villa all visitors are welcome. In April during our easter time, we have midnight mass which is very interesting to many tourists. August is also a lovely month to visit Kathikas, the local festival takes place round the middle of August where there are traditional dancing, food and of course wine.
