Overview

Property

Updated: 01-Dec-2016
Stone Villa Blanka near Split, Dalmatian Coast with fantastic sea view over the swimming pool - Peaceful Location, Stone House With Soul

Zrnovnica is a small town located about 10km south east of Split. It is located on the river Zrnovnica of the same name that flows at the foot of the Mosor mountain range, and was first mentioned at the time of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, when his workers took stone from the area for the construction of his Imperial Palace. In the village we have a baker, butcher, pharmacy, a couple of small supermarkets, post office, a working watermill and restaurants.

The area is famous for its clear air, lovely clean drinking water, rich flora, and abundant varieties of bird life, fauna and a beautiful combination of sea and mountain scenery.

Beautiful villa in relaxing and peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

We were so impressed when we arrived at this lovely villa. Blanka and John were so hospitable and Blanka presented us with a much appreciated food platter and drinks. The villa had everything you would need for a stress-free and relaxing break. Everything you would find at home was right there. The property was so spacious that everyone could have their own area and not be under each others feet. The bbq room was a great place to cook the amazing selection of meat from the little butchers in the village. Time can be spent around the pool from which you have an amazing view of the mountains, valley towards the sea and small town below. We could not fault a thing. We had a truly amazing holiday and did not want to go home. Thank you Blanka and John. Also for the recommendations, advice on places to visit and restaurants and John's expert travel directions. We would thoroughly recommend this property.

Catherine, Mark, Heather, Sophie and Reece.

Lovely and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Villa Blanka was everything we hoped it would be -- charming, peaceful and relaxing -- and all thanks to Blanka and John. They are wonderful, caring hosts who made us feel very welcome. Blanka and John gave us lots of good tips on places to visits. Our holiday was only short, but we took their advice and managed to explore Split, Omis and Trogir, all worth the visit.

The villa, itself, is beautiful with loads of room inside and out. It is well-maintained, very clean and the kitchen is well-equipped. The gardens around Villa Blanka are beautiful and perfect for whiling away the afternoon. And the views are stunning!

We hope to return to Villa Blanka for a nice, long holiday!

The perfect Croatian gem

  • 5 of 5

We spent a glorious week at Villa Blanka for our family summer holiday. What can I say? It's perfect!

The villa has everything you need - all of the home comforts that make a family holiday run smoothly (washing machine, dishwasher, satellite TV, wifi); a beautiful, large swimming pool - which our 2 sons LOVED and spent most of the day splashing around in; different spaces to relax in the lush, well-tended garden (there are 3 hammocks, so no one need miss out), multiple options for al-fresco dining around the villa - including a really special BBQ area, and lots of space inside. My husband and I made the most of having our own 'wing' in the villa, while the boys enjoyed their own bathroom and sitting room. It was such a treat!

The view is spectacular. The villa looks out over the valley, and the dramatic craggy hilltops and sea view complete the vista. There are plenty of beautiful beaches within a 20 minute drive, including one of Croatia's few sandy beaches - a rare find!

Blanka and John are wonderful hosts; genuinely warm and welcoming (really, nothing is too much trouble), but never intrusive. Blanka made us a delicious welcome lunch and we were also lucky enough to be left a gift of local cake, part-way through our holiday.

We are starting to consider our 2016 summer holiday, and I can't imagine we could ever find somewhere as wonderful as Villa Blanka. If we visit Croatia again, we will definitely return! Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

A lovely quiet spacious Croatian retreat

  • 5 of 5

The Stone Villa Blanka is a wonderful retreat just south of Split in the hills above a lovely small village. Blanka and John were wonderful hosts who met us when we arrived and gave us some valuable information about the area and sites to see and then left us to unwind in the serenity of the Croatian countryside. They were warm and welcoming and it was great to know that they were at the end of the phone if we needed them. Blanka prepared some delicious food and drink for our arrival which we were very grateful for after our long journey. The villa is at the very end of a narrow winding road and took a bit of getting used to but it was a very quiet and peaceful location with only the sound of the cicadas and birds during the day as you relaxed by the pool or in one of the hammocks in the beautiful grounds. The villa is spacious and there was plenty of room for our family members to find a quiet area to chill or use the communal areas to play card games or eat. There are 2 tables outside where we ate breakfast and an amazing room at the top of the property with a open fire/oven and eating area where you can enjoy an indoor barbeque. The village is a couple of miles down the hill and has all of the shops that you would require including butcher (great meat), baker (wonderful custard squares), grocery store so you can get your provisions. There is a river that runs through the village and a path that runs beside it. one way goes to the sea and if you go up the river a few hundred metres you will come to an old mill. We wandered in here and the owner Marko made us welcome and served us some of his home made flavoured water and it was brilliant. This mill was used for filming Game of Thrones and is quite a little gem. We went back one evening and Marko cooked a traditional Croatian meal for us which was delicious and very good value. The villa is about 20 minutes drive from Split and there is plenty to see and do in the area including boat trips from Split to the islands and 90minutes from Krka national park. It was a wonderful holiday and the whole family enjoyed it thoroughly. Thank you very much Blanka and John.

Owner's Response: Wonderful guests, that everyone would like. A very dear couple with two beautiful girls.Guests who were demanding to nothing. We were very happy as they are guests who are very independent, and that truly enjoyed every moment of their holiday. Villa Blanka has many terraces and gardens which are full of flowers and every day these lovely people watered the flowers for which we are them endlessly grateful. If ever wishes to return will have with us a very special treatment.

A fabulous rural retreat

  • 5 of 5

We have spent three very happy holidays at Villa Blanka. It is a charming traditional Croatian stone house with views of the Adriatic in the distance. The accommodation is very comfortable with an outside terrace for eating and a lovely swimming pool. The gardens are lovely and well looked after by the owner. The house is convenient for Split and a good base for exploring the area. The owner is very helpful and happy to give good advice on local restaurants, places to visit etc. We have enjoyed our stays so much that we keep returning! It feels like home.

A fantastic place to stay!

  • 4 of 5

We spent a fantastic 10 days in the Villa Blanca last month - the weather was great and the villa well placed for day trips along the coast and to the islands. The owners were very helpful and had lots of suggestions of places to visit in the local area. We also spent a number of days just relaxing in the beautiful garden or swimming in the pool. All the rooms were tastefully decorated and very comfortable, and there was everything provided for a perfect family holiday. If you are planning a trip to Croatia, we would definitely recommend staying at the Villa Blanca!
