Why Daniel Sucksmith chose Mojácar

Mojácar has become a resort on the south coast of Spain without the normal clutter of burger bars and fish & chip restaurants. There are miles of open beaches, small sandy coves and open countryside for sunbathing and walking. A short drive out takes you to other beaches - some busy some not - or to other towns set on the coast or up in the mountains - the real Spain is still available.

What makes this villa unique

Villa La Arruzafa is situated 250 metres from the beach and is situated in a quiet street with it's own personal road leading to double tall entrance gates - a 2 metre wall surrounds 1,500 square metres of sub tropical gardens with full height cacti, rubber trees and palms.

The garden has a large swimming pool, roofed seating area, roofed barbecue area and numerous sunbathing areas on grass or gravel - everything that is required to entertain family or friends. There is a large coved elevated terrace to the front for eating or relaxing plus another 'Morrocan' terrace to the side. The property has a side entrance leading to the beach side road which has numerous restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance - there is no need to use a car once you are here if you don't wish.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your villa. The villa was beautiful, I particularly liked the décor especially the Moroccan theme in the downstairs accommodation. The villa had pretty much everything we needed and more. It was an absolute luxury to have the ice maker!!.

Although there was a large group of us there was plenty of space.


We were all, without a doubt, impressed with the villa and how welcome you made us, considering this is your home, and for taking me to the supermarket when we arrived. We really couldn't fault the villa at all and have been talking about how much we all enjoyed it; it suited us down to the ground. We'd like to come back and I've been enthusing about it at work and recommending it very highly.

The Villa had everything we needed, and the purpose of our holiday was to relax so we didn't venture out too much, except in the evenings - the restaurants easy accessible and catered for all our tastes

Any other equipment such as travel cots, childrens prams, wheelchairs or other disabled apparatus can be hired on request - charged at cost from suppliers. Stunning property, great location, impressive views, highly recommend

Spent a week here on a family holiday with 11 of us staying. La Arruzafa is stunning, a very well appointed house if you are self catering and a short stroll down hill to the beach, bars and restaurants. You need a hire car really if you need a decent shop at a large supermarket as the local shop is small. Or there are frequent buses to the shopping centre.

The pool and gardens are lovely with many an hour sat in the sun here. The pool is 1m deep at the shallow end so my 4 year old was a bit out of his depth but it certainly got him swimming brilliantly! He enjoyed playing on the steps or swim up bar/table when he needed a rest. We enjoyed a few lunchtime BBQs and sangrias by the poolside.

Areas for improvement - the WIFI needs restarting every now and then as signal frequently drops. The single beds in the downstairs apartment are not that comfy. Fine if you are a small light child but we had teenagers in here who said they could feel the springs so we think the mattresses need replacing. Other than that it's a beautiful tranquil place and we highly recommend La Arruzafa.

Perfect Location

This Villa is in the perfect Location for walking to the beach and places to eat or getting the bus to different places

There were 11 of us staying at the Villa I would not recommend more than 6 staying here as if like us you are sharing the cost the people that would stay in the downstairs accommodation would want to pay at least 50% less than those upstairs.

There are 3 bedrooms upstairs sleeping 6, and 2 bedrooms downstairs sleeping 6

Downstairs is very Dark and has a constant smell of damp that actually makes you feel ill from the constant smell, there is no air con down stairs just ceiling fans so you are just circulating the smell of damp around.

There are 2 bedrooms down stairs one is ok with double bed but smells of damp the other room is like a dormitory with 4 single beds in.

the girls that stayed downstairs would not use the bathroom downstairs as it had a constant bad smell.

Upstairs the accommodation is a much better standard, what you would expect for the rental paid, I would say like other reviews that the bathrooms need some attention we all experienced hot or cold showers.

It is over priced because of the downstairs accommodation.

We all agreed we would stay here again if we were upstairs as the location is perfect for getting around but no one wanted to stay downstairs.

A holiday in heaven

I was looking for a relaxing holiday with friends, and chanced upon the perfect place. The space in the villa was amazing, both inside and out - although we didn't spend much time inside as the veranda, garden terrace and pool side provided wonderful space for 'al fresco' living. The private pool was a real bonus as was the outside bar and BBQ.

On arrival we were met by Daniel who remained in contact throughout our stay and responded immediately to any query. The house was spotlessly clean, and well equipped with plenty of additional bedding and towels. The huge TV provides opportunity to keep in touch with British television ( should you want to!) but we were more than happy to explore the local area and switch off from life back home.

The villa is extremely well situated, a few minutes walk from the local beach (which is a great place to swim) and a wide range of restaurants within easy walking distance. I can recommend the local commercial centre for shopping, bars and cheap restaurants.

All this coupled with stunning blue sky, and dawn to dusk sunshine made for the perfect holiday. I hope to return later this year!

Super Family Villa

I just can t fault the villa beautiful and so well presented, spotless our group consisted of 8 adults and 2 children, the pool was well used, we found the villa so well equipped, and wanted for nothing, Daniel did a shop for us as we arrived late so that was brilliant, anything we rang about he was there to sort and I will definitely be back and so will my extended family. The villa is so near the sea front, walking distance shops etc. I would recommend this villa to everyone. Plenty of games in the apt ground floor, bit dark but well that is the only negative thing, about a great villa.

Gracious lady fallen on hard times

The first impression of the Villa was one of general neglect,the gardens were untidy and poorly maintained but could have been spectacular.

On examination of the Villa itself although very spacious and nicely furnished there was evidence that no cleaning had occurred for some time.The book shelves in the hall were thick with dust,the floor of the rear bathroom had not been swept,the bath was full of hair and a rolled up ball of wet toilet paper stood proudly in the plughole.The sheets in the rear bedroom had not been changed and were covered in marks and hair.

Worse was to come in the lower apartment the

.main bedroom was infested with ants which had even managed to colonise the bed,

Other small signs of the general malaise were the uncleaned barbecue the broken Moorish fountain, the pool fountain was also broken.

We did not allow the state of the building to spoil our holiday we love Mojacar and will be returning ,as soon as possible but not to this particular location.

Owner's Response: We are deeply sorry you felt the need to be so harsh on your comments about villa La Arruzafa. The villa had been cleaned prior to your arrival and had had renters the previous week who had been perfectly happy. There had been terrible winds the morning of your arrival which may account for some of the dust. The fountain on the morrocan terrace is not functioning and only for decoration. We are surprised about you comment about the pool fountain as you were observed using it during your stay. We do apologise for the ants in the downstairs bedroom however you fail to mention that this problem was addressed on the Monday along with a re- clean. We also apologise for the dirty bbq, however, we would expect the previous users to clean it but we should have checked. Several calls and texts were made to you after the Monday to see if you were now satisfied with no reply. Please note his property has been rented out for several years with many happy customers.

Special interest holidays:

Visitors in June during the around the weekend 10th, 11th and 12th will have the opportunity of attending the famous Mojàcar "Moors and Christians" festival.

This renowned fiesta is staged every year at this time and includes re-inactments of the Christian landings on what was Moor held territory and the struggle that ensued.

The hundreds of costumed local people as 'actors' taking part and the sounds of fighting and flintlock weapons being discharged forms an integral part of the weekends festivities culminating in the massed parades of uniformed armed Christians and flamboyantly dressed Moors forms the high point on the Sunday in the 700 year old 'Pueblo'.

One of the fiestas in southern Spain that is definitely not to be missed


200 meters from the house to the simple 2 lane beach road - the other side of which is 11 kilometers of unspoilt sandy beach and deep blue sea.

There is no need to use the car for the evening if you simple wish to stroll to a local bar or restaurant or simply walk by the sand and the sea.


Almeria Airport 50 minutes. Alicante Airport 2 hours. Murcia Airport 1 hour 45 minutes.


The enchanting 700 year old 'white' village of Mojacar Pueblo is 5 mins drive from the house.

Turre Village is 10mins drive inland where there are many bars and restaurants

Garrucha fishing port 10 mins drive with it's very Spanish feel and fish restaurants.

Vera town 15 mins drive inland.
