This new spacious 2nd floor penthouse is situated in the unspoilt fishing village of Cabanas,5 Minutes by car to the old town or Tavira. It is tastefully decorated with two bedrooms, one with en suite. a second bathroom, fully fitted kitchen and large lounge two balconies and a roof top terrace to enjoy alfresco dining in all the sunshine. A two minutes walk to Conceicao you will find a well stocked supermarket, a pharmacy, bank and a selection of bars and a takeaway. The railway station is a 2 min walk from the apartment from which you can travel the length of the Algarve from Villa Real, on the Spanish border, all the way to Albufeira. Cabanas a traditional fishing village is a 10 minutes walk along the palm lined roads that leads to the bay and beach, where you will find a good selection of bars and restaurants serving local fish specialities at reasonable prices. Beautiful island beach is accessed by a river taxi (80 cent return) which takes 3 minutes to cross the River Formosa.

About the Owner

We are Derek and Jacqueline Mitchelson, we are 52 years young with 2 children, our Son Mitch & partner Michelle both thirty something have 2 children 5 & 2 years older. our Daughter Sharon & partner Scott , both 31 years old with 2 children 6 and 1 year even older. We went to Cabanas in 2006 by default, and fell in love with the area, we bought our apartment of-plan in 2007 and moved in 2009, we have met a lot of friends over here, (that is not a hard thing to do) as the family and our self come as often as we can, we just love the ambiance of the place, so child friendly and safe. We have run a family Hairdressing business in the Glasgow area of Scotland for the past 30 years, so we love to escape the turmoil of every day pressure and relax in the same comfort that we have in our own home

Loved the peace and quiet at the apartment, lovely apartment all you would need to relax the roof terrace was fantastic for sunbathing and alfresco dinning, Cabanas is a lovely village to walk into at night, there is a lot more in it than you would expect.

Fantastic beach, the short boat trip made it so different from a normal beach, You feel as if you had done something more than going to the beach, loved the apartment,decorated to a very high standered but still felt comfortable and relaxing 10 out of 10

Ideal location for us, as we wanted to travel the Algarve by train, or into Spain, the apartment was fantastic everything that we needed plus more, nice wee inexpensive bars and restaurants a short walk away, to get up in the morning go up on the roof terrace with a coffee and see the view was a so refreshing way to start the day.

The reason that we purchased our apartment in Cabanas, is that it offered us flexibility to have a relaxing break with the children or without them, you can travel the Algarve, or if you like your golf there are lots withing in the area, Benimar golf club is within walking distance. the infrastructure is fantastic if you have a car or use public transport, we have found that there is something for everybody hear (young/mid/older) Cabanas is such a lovely village by the sea so relaxing, but very near is the Town of Tavira that offers you the town feeling, with its historical churches and bridges, a must to see in the evening.

Activity and Interests

Travel:

Faro Airport is about 30 min drive. Car hire can be arranged at the airport, where all major companies have depots. Taxi transfer can be arranged (payable locally). Buses run frequently from Cabanas to Tavira. Conceicao train station is a 2 min walk from the apartment Car hire can be arranged for shorter periods in Cabanas and day trips by coach to local markets water parks and Seville can be booked. Car hire is not essential if you want a relaxing holiday but recommended if you want to explore.

Distances:

Airport 30 mins drive, Spanish border 20 mins drive east. The town of Tavira is 10 mins drive away and also accessible for the cost of 1 euro on local train (train station 2 mins walk from apartment). Taxi 7 euro, Tavira is well worth a visit, as is the beach at Ilha de Tavira. Within a short drive of the apartment you will find many small villages with access to beautiful peaceful beaches and fabulous local restaurants.

You will be met by our English speaking representative who will show you around the apartment give you your keys, and answer any questions that you have, For your convenience a 2 min walk from the apartment to the roundabout at the top of the road you will find a well stocked supermarket, with a fresh meat butcher and bakers counter within,a pharmacy, bank, a small selection of bars and a takeaway. A 10 min walk into Cabanas an unspoilt village of narrow streets, a number of cafes bars and restaurants. A welcomeing atmosphere is evident without a heavy tourist approach. There is a daily fish meat and vegetable market, several local mini markets, hardware stores a chemist, local butchers and post office. The nature reserve provides pleasant areas for those who like to walk and enjoy nature at its most peaceful. Bike hire wind and kite surfing (hire and tuition) can be found in the village. Excursions are available with local departures to the Water Parks and Zoo Marina Leisure Park. The nearest town of Tavira is steeped in history and boasts 37 churches. The town is split by the River Gilao and the historical Roman Bridge connects both sides.

Changeover Day:
Arrival and departure date are flexible by agreement. Depending on availability we may not be able to offer access until 2pm or may ask guests to vacate by 10am on departure day, but only if required on a changeover day for cleaning.

We enjoy the comfort of the apartment, furnished to a very high standard but with a comfortable feel to it. The apartment is in the centre of the complex overlooking the pool, the roof top terrace is your answer if you want the sun 24/7 with a BBQ 4 padded sun beds, table & 6 chairs, for all your Alfresco Dinning. In the evening you can sit in the balcony over looking the pool at night and just chill. A two min walk takes you to the local, train station, bus stop, supermarket, bars and restaurants Wi-Fi is available for a small cost. there is a travel cot in the apartment if you have small childern.

  • Notes on accommodation: Air-conditioning/heating units are in the living room and both bedrooms. We request that guests do not smoke in the apartment and we regret that the apartment is not suitable for pets. The apartment is suitable for children (cots/highchairs can be provided-at extra cost, payable on arrival), parental supervision advised for spiral staircase. Food welcome pack can be arranged as can airport transfers-contact us for more details. Outside: Balcony has table and 4 chairs, overlooking the pool the pool area and beautiful gardens, a spiral staircase leads you to the rooftop terrace with four padded sun loungers, a large table and six comfortable padded chairs a barbecue for that all important alfresco dining in the sunshine. Utility Room: Small utility room off kitchen, home to the washing machine and air- conditioning unit. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Price includes fresh bedlinen and bathroom towels which are provided every 7 days and the apartment is cleaned once a week. Guests are asked to please provide their own towels for the beach. Additional cleaning can be arranged on request.
