Overview

About the property

Spacious 3 bedroom, rural barn conversion near Ceauce, that provides the essential relaxed French idyll

Lovingly renovated during 2009 this large three bedroom property contains many of the original buildings features. Oak beamed ceilings, handmade oak staircase and wood burning stoves have been fitted to give a traditional feeling, with central heating and a fully fitted modern kitchen providing all the comforts of home.

The large well appointed open plan lounge and kitchen diner give plenty of space to entertain. Leather sofas allow enough room for all and a large tv with freesat recorder will mean you dont have to miss your favourite programmes.

There is a dvd player with a large selection of films provided for cosy evenings in front of the log burner. An xbox will keep the smaller people amused and there are a stack of games for family evenings.

The large bedrooms are bright and airy with the master having a vaulted ceiling with en-suite bathroom and dressing room. The full height ceilings in the hall way give a sense of grandeur with table football on the landing.

Bedrooms 2 and 3 are also bright and have a tv with freesat in each.

Patio doors lead directly from the lounge and kitchen straight onto an enclosed gravelled patio area with barbeque and seating areas. There is parking for at least two vehicles at the front of the property leading on to a large grassed area overlooking stunning views of the countryside. The village provides a bakery, cafe, butchers, pharmacy and a small supermarket. A great place to unwind or a base to explore the region. Complimentary local sourced welcome pack is provided.

About Nick Monelle

We live in Weymouth in Dorset and have a son.

We purchased our small gite in 2005 after looking for a property within a short distance from Dorset and fell in love with the area. Attached to it was a large barn that we have now converted. We worked on the project with a fantastic local builder and are really proud of the finished article!

We regularly take our friends and family with us to the house and enjoy chilling.

We both work so getting away on a quick trip to France is what attracted us the area.

Why Nick Monelle chose Ceaucé

Fell in love with the area and pace of life - everyone is so chilled out.

We live in Dorset but even that is fast paced compared to Ceauce - the people are lovely and the countryside is beautiful.

We have friends in the area who look after the house.

What makes this barn unique

Plenty to do for everyone - we have teenagers to amuse as well as the grandparents.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"This house has seriously got the wow factor - we were stunned when we walked in. The area is lovely and quiet but plenty to do within a short distance"

Kerry & crowd from Poole, Dorset

"If you are looking for a truly relaxing holiday or break away then this is the holiday let for you.The accommodation is superb, contemporarily decorated but retaining the original features of the building, it's fully equipped and extremely comfortable. It boasts a rural setting and is positioned nearby to two residencies lived in by locals. There are plenty of places to eat (if you decide not to use the fully equipped kitchen) in the beautiful towns within short driving distances from the barn. You could easily spend every day visiting the many towns, cities and landmarks in the area (Mayenne is a beautiful day out) or alternatively you could relax with a glass of wine in the completely secluded garden at the barn! - Kevin & family

Quiet, modern, clean & spacious. Great location.

  • 5 of 5

Quiet, modern, clean & spacious. Great location for a rural setting. Easy drive to the forests near Domfront and the Mont st Michael on the coast. Julie and Nick encourage you to treat La Dadillere like your own home with everything you need already in place. No need for a shopping trip en route.

The kids loved the table top football, x-box and table tennis - makes all the difference when you arrive home from a day out to have the kids entertained whilst you prepare dinner!

Highly recommended!

Excellent holiday home

  • 5 of 5

Lovely barn, modern, comfortable and very well equipped. We all had a great holiday and would recommend to anyone looking for a lovely place to stay in France. Lots to do within the house and a lovely house/garden to relax in. If the sun comes out the garden is the perfect place to be, so peaceful. Children will also be entertained and lots of lovely places to visit in the surrounding areas. Hope to go back again one day.

Delightful

  • 5 of 5

What a superb barn conversion - everything is clearly of high quality and the workmanship is excellent. We enjoyed the spacious rooms, each uncluttered yet tastefully and comfortably furnished. The housekeeping was all one could hope for and the owners couldn't have been more helpful.

And what a peaceful spot - just what we wanted. The whole area is beautiful with a plethora of varied scenery and much to see.

We would, without hesitation, recommend this property to anyone who was looking for tranquillity in rural Normandy.

Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

Julie and Nick have a truly hidden gem in La Dadillere, near Ceauce, France. We have stayed in a few property's in France but have always found them to be quite basic and in need of a good clean, but this property surpassed all our hopes. Set down a country lane the converted farm building offers all you could wish for in a holiday home. Spotlessly clean, comfy beds, superb quality furnishings and fittings. A huge lounge with very comfy sofa's, a large screen tv with sky and a games console to while away the evenings. The well appointed kitchen has everything that you need. Two sets of double doors lead from the lounge and dining area onto a small courtyard where we spent many hours over a lazy breakfast or lunch. A gift of local bread, cheese and cider was very welcome after the journey down.

Although off the beaten track the property is within reach of some lovely day out destinations, we drove to Mont Saint-Michel although didn't take the climb to the top, then onto St Malo, with its beautiful beach and old fashioned shops. But make sure you travel south to the zoo at La Fleche, a couple of hours drive but so worth the journey, very clean, well laid out, and to see the big cats, penguins and seals so close up was a real treat, most of the enclosures have massive glass panels so that you can get some fantastic photo's, but star of the day was the polar bear, huge glass panels mean that you can stand next to him as he swims past - we were fascinated.

In the house there is a book with lots of comments about places to visit and where to eat, we tried the Grill in nearby Domfront which was open most days and served good honest food, the waitresses have an understanding of English so that helped. A good range of pavement cafes and restaurants were in Bagnoles de L'Orne, a very pretty lake to walk round followed by hot chocolate and crepes whilst watching the world go by.

La Dadillere is the type of holiday home that you can just walk into unpack and get on with your holiday, we didn't want to leave at the end of the week and will definitely be booking again in 2016.
