A comfortable house with all amenities, plenty of space inside and out, a patio at the front of the property and a large astro turfed garden area at the back, we have internet access.Situated in a quiet part of the town but within 10 to 15 minutes walk to the beach, market, shops, cafes and restaurants. In an ideal position to explore and visit many beautiful places such as Obidos, Foz do Arelho, Alcobaca, Nazare and many more.

We came to Sao Martinho with some friends who were buying a property. We fell in love with the place as it it reminded us of our other favourite place Cornwall, but in the sun.

We live in a small town called Ramsbottom that has fantastic walking but we love to holiday by the sea.

Fantastic stay in Sao Martinho do Porto.

The property was new and the rooms very big. It's a wonderful house in a lovely place very calm. It's 15 minutes walking from the beach but that it is not a big inconvenience. Sao Martinho is lovely and the people of the village very friendly.

Definitely recommend!

The house was big and spotless and the 3 bathrooms meant we could all shower quickly. The wifi meant kids could play on iPads and the availability in ps4 is just great.Nearby market sells fresh bread,pastries and fruit and veg.

The location is fantastic,close to cafés and 10 min walk from the beach. Fabulous ice-cream shop nearby selling the most marvellous ice-creams/waffles/crepes.

The kids had to most amazing time at the beaches' inflatable play in the water.

Highly recommend staying there,the owners are most reliable and helpful.

Will most certainly stay there again!!

Thoroughly enjoy the stay

We stayed at the house for 12 nights, 2 adults and 2 young children. The house is spacious, furnished to a high standard will all the necessary appliances. The children particularly liked playing in the garden and also the fact we had several barbrques during our stay.

The location of the house is ideal within an easy walk to the centre of Sao Martinho for the beach, bars, shops and restaurants. Also, there are numerous places to visit within 30 mins drive of the house.

We would definitely recommend Sao Martinho and this house for a relaxing holiday, we are looking to go back next year.

Great place to stay

This was our second time staying at this house and in Sao martinho, we stayed last year, and once again can't fault it. Such a lovely place, lovely people and a great house to stay in. Janette and Alan who own this house are so helpful and make it so easy to book and enjoy your holiday. Thankyou once again you two for helping to make our 2015 holiday easy and enjoyable. And once again top restaurants too. Definatly would recommend to anyone wishing to holiday here.

- a very nice house

We stayed at this house at the end of the season. It is spacious and well equipped and has everything you would need for a lovely holiday.

It is a short walk to the beach - which has something for everyone, the children especially loved it and we're kept busy all day.

In all a lovely place to stay - we hope to return to very soon.

Great Holiday Location

This house is as described and more. Clean, comfortable, spacious and very well equipped. Sao Martinho do Porto is a nice little town located around a very safe horse shoe bay. There are also lots of fantastic beaches to visit along the coast both to the north and south as well as plenty on other interesting places to visit inland. Great communication from the owners who were on hand to answer any questions. We were met at the house by Alison, a very nice lady, who told us about the area and was contactable in case of any problems (we had none). Would gladly go back and would recommend to anyone visiting this part of Portugal. Great holiday, very sad to leave

From the Owner

The house is comfortable and spacious with all amenities near by, there is no trouble parking in summer during the busy months. It is within walking distance of the beach, town and local amenities such as the supermarket and market. The market is great for fresh produce and fish at a really reasonable price, it is where the locals shop. There is a bread shop near the market as well as a chicken shop so you don't need to venture far for all your needs.

Nearest Airport : Lisbon at 90 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Sao Martinho at 1 Kilometres Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

There are many water-sports in the area ie. surfing, sailing, surfing, wind/kite surfing. On Sao Martinho bay during July and August it offers pedaloes, banana rides, paddle boarding as well as jet ski's for hire. There is a huge inflatable off the shore. You can arrange fishing trips or day trips to the Belenga Islands. Horse riding, mountain biking, hiking and golf are all offered in this area too.


10/15 minute walk, 1 minute in the car to the safe sheltered beach of Sao Martinho do Porto which sweeps round to Salir do Porto.

Foz do Arelho/ Obidos lagoon beach approx 15 minutes drive. Nazare approx 20 minutes drive. Peniche and Baleal, a beautiful surfing / windsurfing beach approx 30 minutes drive as well as Grelho and Salgado which offer peace away from the busier beaches. There is an outdoor lido pool at Sao Pedro de Moel where you can spend the day as well as an Aqua Park at Nazare.


Lisbon, approximately 1 hours drive. Porto 2 hours 30 minutes drive. Faro 4 hours drive. Car hire recommended to explore the area, however there are buses from Lisbon to Sao Martinho, a nearby town.


Sao Martinho town offers many shops, cashpoints, banks cafes, icecream/crepe parlours and restaurants as well as a beautiful safe beach. Salir do Porto offers a beach, shops, cafes, restaurants and an outdoor pool -1.5km. Foz do Arelho has a fantastic beach, bars and restaurants-10km. Obidos, one of Portugal's picturesque gems - 20km. Nazare, a traditional Portuguese fishing town and a waterpark- 10km. Caldhas da Rainha, a local town with all amenites - 12km from the house approximately.

  • Notes on accommodation: Please refrain from smoking inside the house. The property being fully centrally heated is an ideal get away for the winter. Outside: There is a sheltered front patio with table and chairs which is a sun trap for those windy days. There is a private large garden at the back of the property, part of it has been astro turfed and fenced off for shelter with table, chairs and sunbeds available for use. We have a traditional Portuguese permanent BBQ and equipment for guest use. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen included. Beach towels are not included. The property is cleaned/bedding changed before and after rental. If you wish to have it cleaned in between there will be a charge. If using the travel cot you will need to bring your own bedding. Other: The lounge could be used as an extra bedroom in summer as you can eat out on the front patio or in the astro turfed back garden.
