The apartment is spacious and fully equipped. The apartment is a T1 ( 1 bedroom which sleeps 2 persons). The bedroom is separate from the kitchen and living room area.The building is serviced by a lift and parking is possible directly outside the apartment block.The apartment has a private individual roof terrace ideal for the evenings. The views are of the sea, city and countryside.The apartment is quiet and relaxing and has all mod cons to make holidays enjoyable.
There is a small city bus that links the apartment to the centre of Tavira during the week-the first goes by at 07.40 and the last bus to the centre goes by the apartments at 18.48 and costs 1 euro.- Service on Saturdays is up to 14.00 hours, no service on Sundays/Bank Holidays. Some guests hire bikes to get around and there is a bike shop in the centre of Tavira who will deliver the bike to you if you wish. The centre of Tavira is approx 2-3 kms from the apartment depending on where you are going. Tavira is compact and is divided by the river Gilao. The apartment is approx 2.5 kms from the ferry terminus.Information and prices regarding ferry times and prices are available in the information booklet in the apartment.The beaches in Tavira - the island of Tavira is accessible by Ferry from the centre of Tavira. The Gran Plaza Shopping centre is a little over 1 km.
Taxis are very reasonable and plentiful. A car as all holiday makers know offers the opportunity to explore more places and since many of the beaches around Tavira are on islands a car is an ideal way to get to Santa Luzia, Cabanes to get the boats across to the islands. A car also offers the opportunity to explore further afield Manta Rota, Praia Verde, Fabrica, Cacela Velha or for a change up into the hills to visit Cachopo.
For those who decide to come by train/bus or who decide to do without a car the owner offers guests the opportunity to do a shop on the first day.
There is an information office and a tour shop in the centre of Tavira where you can discuss your ideas for days out and book any tours you may wish to go on.
The owner is generally on hand to welcome guests and to answer any questions you may have. The apartment DOES NOT have WI-FI. When asking about availability please provide full name and phone number in order for the owner to ensure she has correct details for contact purposes. The apartment is reasonably priced and the service offered is how the owner would wish to be treated.The Owner speaks English and some Portuguese. The owner likes to receive emails as she can be clearer perhaps in her answers than on the telephone but she hopes to practice becoming more proficient in Portuguese by phone. The same is true for French- she has school French from many years ago but can reply to emails in French although on the phone it can be more difficult. So the Owner asks that you bear with her while she replies to your queries as comprehensively as she can in your language although Irish English is her first language.

The 3rd floor apartment has an individual roof terrace with sun beds on it. The apartment has two balconies. The bathroom is laid out with a bath and a shower head, wash basin, toilet and bidet.

About The Owner
I speak English and some Portuguese and hope to continue to improve my Portuguese. I need to reactivate my school French and hope to improve on it in the future.
I live in Tavira and enjoy having the apartment as I meet so many different people and enjoy lovely conversations with them.
I enjoy communicating with a potential guest pre, during and post a holiday and welcome enquiries letting me know whether they are proceeding with a booking or not. I know what it is like to send off a few enquiries and have to wait for a response in order to be able to make a decision on location and price. One thing you are guaranteed is that you will get a reply from me. I also know also what it is like to be an owner waiting for enquirers to decide whether they are coming to my apartment or not. In the height of the summer July and August it gets very busy so while I do my best to get back to people as quickly as possible I am also conscious people are perhaps considering a number of options and I hate for them to lose out on the option of staying with me if they take too much time to make a decision. I hope to continue meeting many more new guests and I welcome their comments in the guest book in all the apartments.

The apartment is in a quiet location of Tavira yet within easy reach of various amenities.

Activity and Interests
To reach Ilha de Tavira go into the centre of Tavira and get the ferry to Tavira Island beach. Cabanes beach is approx 10 mins drive from the apartment and is accessible by a small boat at a nominal cost. Santa Luzia is approx 15 mins from the apartment and has two beaches Terra Estreita and Barril. Manta Rota Beach is a long sandy beach and very popular with holiday makers and is further along the coast. All the beaches along the coast are different and each has its own charm.
Fly into Faro Airport approx 35 kms from Tavira.Take the A22 towards Spain.In 2011 tolls were placed on the A22. It costs 2.30 euros to travel from Faro to Tavira. When hiring a car ask about a transponder! It is possible to holiday in Tavira without a car. The city has a good taxi service and the bus and train stations have good links to Faro,Lisbon,the Spanish Border and other areas of Portugal and of course you can hire bikes or just enjoy a nice leisurely walk at your own pace.
Guests can walk into Tavira at their own pace approx 3 kms.Tavira has been acknowledged for its attractiveness to visitors interested in nature and cultural heritage, environment and sustainability.It was included in the Quality Coast 2011 top 50 of Southern Europe.Tavira is rich in colour with trees and flowers in the Springtime,with Pink Flamingos and bird life in the Summer and Autumn,salt panning all year long and the city and the surrounding areas are a delight to walk,cycle and photograph.
The Gran Plaza Shopping Centre, Minipreco supermarket and ATM, Nora Velha Bar, ATM and restaurant and Restaurant Ana are all within easy reach of the apartment..The train stop at Porta Nova, chemist, bakery and Post Office are easy to walk to and taxis are readily available in the centre of Tavira and are reasonably priced.There is a selection of bars,cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes- Portuguese,Irish,,Italian,Indian and Asian which stay open late in the summer and close earlier in the winter months. Tavira has a good range of supermarkets to suit all tastes- Continente, Pingo Doce, Minipreco, Lidl and Aldi. Why not stroll through the daily fruit, vegetable and fish market and buy some oranges,figs,olives,almonds and fresh fish which has been caught by the local fishermen for your evening meal. Enjoy a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice from the market/ buy a bottle to take to the beach with you.Octopus is a specialty in Santa Luzia. Tavira has a well stocked library and every so often there is a guest speaker there giving a free talk on the history of Portugal.Tavira is steeped in history and culture and is a walker's delight with its small streets and sights to see. It is a city with almost 3000 years of history.The city hosts many concerts, music recitals, outdoor events and festivals throughout the year.Forget about television -there are many activities to choose from>
horse riding,swimming,fishing,bowls,walking,cycling,bird watching,water sports and tennis.The Ria Formosa is a sanctuary for bird life and well worth exploring by bike or by foot.There are a number of internet cafes in the city and all are easily accessible.accessible. Tavira is an easy place to get around,is relaxing, has plenty of restaurants and cafes and is truly a delight to holiday in.The information brochure in the apartments gives guests a list of restaurants,cafes, train/bus times,maps,local markets and local/Algarvian interests.

The owner tries to give guests as much time in the apartments as possible.In general arrival tends to be after 3pm and departure tends to be by 10am.Share your travel plans and the owner can see how flexible things can be.Late night arrivals are possible.

Prices in Euros for 7 nights.Daily prices/or extra nights are calculated on a pro-rata basis.The owner has many return guests from various countries.Emails are answered within 3 hours where possible- if you have a question feel free to ask.If you had friends staying with us tell us when booking. It is never too late to ask about availability!You are invited to come and stay in the apartment and receive a warm welcome from the owner.
Payment is by Bank Transfer and Service Fees are payable to HOMEAWAY. In July and August The Owner requests the completion and return of the Registration Form and proof of remittance of the Bank Transfer within 24 hours in order to secure a booking. The bank transfer will be acknowledged once the Owner is notified the funds are in the bank. Once the transfer is received by the Owner the booking is confirmed.
Children under 10 years are free.
