About the Owner

As with most people who holiday in France, we loved the empty straight roads, making travelling a pleasure. We loved the countryside, which is very similar to Devon and Cornwall. The parks and gardens are so well kept. We also love the locally produced fresh vegetables, mostly home grown without the chemicals. If you look at the buildings, they are not polluted by endless traffic fumes making the stonework grey/black.

There is no rush here for any reason, which "makes every day a holiday!", to quote what most locals say.

We love the 2 hour lunches, usually 3/4 courses with wine included. The street market and the beaches are not overcrowded and everywhere there is space. The brocantes are fantastic places to buy old furniture and antiques. The only noisy time is Bastille Day.

Great holidays in France

  • 5 of 5

The mobile home was clean and adequately furnished, it has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a large sitting room with English television channels. There is a ramp for disabled visitors and has its own parking space. The owners care for you during your stay and will direct you to any of the local markets. Bayeux can be busy on market days and parking is at a premium, try not to use a sat-nav to Bayeux as it sends you down closed streets. The mobile home has a well stocked kitchen area with plenty of pots and pans. It is ideally located in Normandy between the major towns of St Lo and Bayeux close to the picturesque village of le Molay Littry where there is a weekly market and two very good super markets.

The site has its own small grocery shop which has competitive prices. The snack bar offers meals all day and often has daily specials all at reasonable prices. The on site staff are very friendly and speak many languages. There is a kids club giving adults the chance for a bit of peace and quiet during the day. The covered pool is a reasonable size but in hot weather can become crowded with sun lovers. The bar is small but offers a good range of beers and wines. Prices are reduced during 'happy hour'. Nightly entertainment is held in the concert room and closes about midnight.

It is only a twenty minute drive to the famous Normandy landing beaches where you can visit several war museums or enjoy the vast expanses of clean golden sand.

A car is required but fuel prices are usually cheaper than the UK.

A good value meal can be enjoyed in a Chinese (eat as much as you can) buffet in St Lo. There are several cafes and restaurants in Bayeux and St Lo which serve food and drinks. The major City of Caen is about an hours drive away and well worth a visit. There is a large child's funfair similar to Alton towers but without the exciting rides.
