Just to say we have just got home after a truly great holiday in Kalkan - we loved the place and will certainly be returning. Villa is just fantastic, so nice to arrive at somewhere so clean, well appointed and comfortable. Pool and everything about the place was beautiful and the view is to die for. I spent many an hour early morning sat in the comfy chair (nice touch that!) watching the world wake up and it couldn't have been better. Kalkan as a town is lovely; we spent most evenings "down town" eating and wandering around the streets. Loved Aubergine (if a bit more expensive), also Belgin's Kitchen (the traditional Turkish rooftop place), Sunset restaurant, etc. etc. Dyer Family, Cheshire

Villa Angora felt like home the moment we arrived

  • 5 of 5

Villa Angora is just like home. Its been finished to a high standard and the owners have created a warm and tasteful style. We really enjoyed that each bedroom has its own balcony and feels very private. The downstairs layout works really well too.

This was my first visit to Turkey. Kalkan is a wonderful authentic resort where the locals are peaceful and could not be friendlier. All the restaurants we visited served excellent food (and there is an amazing range of options) as well as bars with music for those who want them.

I met several British families who own property in the area and visit several times a year because is it such a lovely place to be.

The good news for me was that this town was a short boat ride away across the bay (or an even shorter taxi ride). The side where the villa is more intimate having only a couple of restaurants and a shop for the essentials. I spent most of my time on the beach which is literally 3 minutes walk away from the Villa and has a cafe bar. The sea was warm enough to swim and snorkel even in October.

We did venture to a local waterfall which is well worth a visit and the local market which is great fun. I would liked to have stayed longer as there is much more to see and do.

The villa owner arranged local transport from the airport and the journey could not have been easier.

Super villa with fantastic views and sunsets

  • 4 of 5

Lovely villa with stunning views. Very convenient for everything. We didn't need a car as taxis and water taxi into Kalkan town is so convenient and cheap. Everything is villa was perfect and in good working order with excellent maintenance team for cleaning and pool. Very good location as not far from sea (5 mins walk), Bob's local store, beach bar. Excellent and professionally run water sports 5 mins walk from villa. Overall, super holiday.

Excellent villa with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

We recently came back from a wonderful holiday in Kalkan. Villa Angora in Kisla was perfect for us with fantastic views over the bay and in an excellent location for the various beach clubs and a local shop. It was only a short boat taxi, or road taxi into Kalkan itself. The property was visited every day by Derman or Gonca from the maintenance company to check on the pool and water the plants, with cleaning of the villa offered in the middle of the week.

The rooms in the villa were perfect for our needs, they looked fine on the photos on the website, but in fact were bigger in the flesh! There are 2 bedrooms (a double and twin) on the first floor, and a twin on the top floor. It might be important to some to know that to access the room on the top floor you need to go out onto the roof terrace, but that wouldn't be an issue for teenagers or above.

The information given by Paul prior to travelling was very useful - the taxi/airport transfer company was excellent. The Mahal Beach Club was definitely our favourite with wonderful lunches and good facilities. We ate at a number of restaurants in the evenings, including The Small House, which I would definitely recommend. Having had the boat day trips recommended to us, we met up with friends in Kalkan and hired the Sea Bella Junior for a day out at the beginning of the holiday. We had such a good time that we did the same again at the end, this time round on Sunset 3. On both trips the food was delicious and the guys looking after us were great - these day trips are extremely good value at less than £25 a head.

The market in Kalkan was fun, but very hot(!), and wandering around the town visiting the shops in the evening was a favourite with my daughter.

All in all, we felt we had had the perfect holiday and would love to go back again, staying in the same villa.

Perfect Location!

  • 5 of 5

Paul & Julia were excellent hosts, making sure everything was ready for our arrival, including connecting us well ahead of time with their reception person in Kalkan. The villa was beautiful, clean, and in the perfect location. It was close to restaurants, markets, and a choice of beach clubs. And, you cannot beat the view, especially from the rooftop dining area, which was a great place for dinner.

From the Owner

I love the less commercial location of Kalkan, Turkey, being just far enough away from the more crowded commercial tourism areas of that region. The town is surrounded by historical attractions and nearby townships of interest. A beautiful beach boasting the blue Mediterranean Sea is just 6km away and the longest beach in Turkey just a 16km drive northward. Kalkan town is made of quaint cobbled streets with unlimited dining experiences and fabulous shopping. The Turkish hospitality is wonderful to experience and most speak great English. Kalkan is just an hour & forty minute drive from Dalaman Airport which is an easy 3 1/2hr flight from London/Gatwick!

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Dalaman at 80 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Bob's at 0.2 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : Beach Club at 0.2 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Kaputas at 6 Kilometres Car: not necessary

The nearest sea access to the villa is 300 metres, but wonderful sandy beaches can be found at Kaputas - 10 minutes by car, and Patara - 20 minutes by car. There is also a clean shingle beach in Kalkan itself. Watersports are available at the nearby Kalkan Beach Club - 300 metres. Other Beach Clubs are accessible via Kalkan Harbour, and local Gulet trips are thoroughly recommended.

Flying time from Gatwick Airport is just 3 1/2hrs to the nearest airport of Dalaman, which is 1.5 hours drive away from Kalkan and is served year-round by Thomas Cook, and seasonally (May-October) by EasyJet, plus all the usual charter airlines, First Choice, Monarch, Thomsons etc. Airport transfers are recommended with 'X-Press Travel' hire cars are available. A car is not totally necessary for your stay in Kalkan, but is recommended for exploring some wonderful ancient sites within easy reach.

Kalkan Harbour is 25 minutes away on foot, 10 minutes by water taxi from the Beach Club just below the villa & costing only 10TL (£3) per person round trip and just 5 minutes by taxi at £5 each way to town! Kas (pronounced 'Kash') the next large town with great markets and food is 30 minutes by road, and Fethiye is 45 mins. The walk into town is for those in really good shape, we highly recommend the water taxi, which runs all day, found for a leisurely ride into the town centre.

Further Details:

There is a local shop just up and behind the villa called 'Bob's' providing basic essentials, (he has a good restaurant there also saving a trip into town!) but serious food shopping is in Kalkan which provides at least 4 excellent supermarkets selling all the familiar items. The largest being Yali Supermarket near the banks. There are chemists and hardware stores with great green grocers for fresh fruits & veggies and a butcher! With two small restaurants & bar along with a small grocery store just 2-3 minutes up the hill behind the Villa, guests have no need to leave the neighbourhood for days if they wish! A full information booklet in PDF form will be sent with rental confirmations!

From the Owner

Villa Angora is located in the very desirable less commercial part of Kalkan in the nearby region of Kisla on the hillside just a 25 minute walk from town centre. An attractive feature I love is the fact you can stay in the immediate area for days without having to leave! You don't even need transportation during your whole stay if you chose? Taxi rides from town to the villa are only about 5 minutes! A two minute walk down the pathways from the villa take guests to two Private Beach Clubs offering free amenities to villa guests where they can swim or relax in comfort, safety and privacy. Just behind the villa is a couple of great restaurants and a small convenience grocery store. The views from all parts of the villa are just stunning while overlooking the blue bay of Kalkan Harbour!
