Apartment in Sao Martinho do Porto, Silver Coast - 4 Minute Walk To Beautiful Beach, Shops, Cafes And Restaurants

The Bayside Resort is situated within Sao Martinho do Porto on Portugal's Silver Coast. The apartment is superbly located just 160m from the beach and promenade in a quiet residential area. It boasts the largest swimming pool in Sao Martinho, poolside shower facilities, children’s pool and play ground all within a secured gated area.The ground floor, 2 bedroom accommodation sleeps up to 6 people. The apartment is air conditioned and includes a fully fitted kitchen with oven, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. It also features a large open plan living/dining room with TV, DVD player, dining table to seat 6 and a comfortable sofa bed to sleep 2. There are large balconies to the front and rear of the property with sun loungers and dining furniture. The bathroom includes a shower and bath. Ample parking is available outside the apartment and in the private underground car park. Cot & High Chair for infants can be provided.

Excellent location and roomy

Excellent location, 5 minutes from the beach. Easy access to food markets and restaurants. Having the garage is a plus. Easy process and would definite stay there again. The owner provided us with very useful information and loved the info book with many details. The only things that I would suggest would be to have a hair dryer available, and having bed covers without stains. I would give it a 5 but due to the suggested items, I will give it a four.

Owner's Response: So sorry bedding was marked. It was clean when we visited in June but we will replace it on our September visit if it is marked. Our property management company are always happy to help our tenants with any issues if brought to their attention

Leaving this review 10 months after our last visit, as I didn't realise you were able to leave reviews. Sorry!

We've stayed here twice (August 2012 and 13) and loved the apartment (and the town) very much - both times.

Apartment is large, well equipped (as described), comfortable with secure underground parking although there is ample parking on street too. TV had UK channels (handy for news etc).

The large pool was often under used by others on the complex and we never had any issues getting sun loungers. The pool area had a small grassy area (large enough for Dad vs. two sons, first to 5 football match), toilets, and a small climbing frame/slide. My boys loved the pool.

Apartment was in a quiet area on the edge of town and is a 2-3 min walk (if that) to the beach and a few restaurants and about 5-8 mins walk to the very centre of town.

The beach is beautiful, clean, safe and as it is a horseshoe bay sheltered from the Atlantic. The town has plenty of cafes/bars and restaurants and is a perfect location for a family holiday. There are two small supermarkets within a 2 min walk and a large Intermarche supermarket in town that is a 5 min drive /10 min walk and has a cashpoint machine that worked (reliably).

The apartment is a great place for a family holiday with a lot to do in town and a lot to see within a short drive. Both my sons (aged 8 & 11) are complaining that we are not coming back in 2014. We will come back though......

It is a 4 minute stroll to the beach. The town is built around a sheltered shallow bay that provides safe bathing away from the strong Atlantic currents. The bay also benefits from warmer waters thanks to its sheltered location. During the peak summer months there are life guards on the beach and also beach huts to hire. The beach is cleaned most days showing off its beautiful iridescent silver sand which is where the area gets its name.


We recommend flying to Lisbon Airport as it is an easy drive along the A8, taking between 50 mins to 1 hour depending on traffic.

If you don't want to hire a car then you can take a taxi from Lisbon airport to Lisbon bus station (approx 15 Euros) and there is a direct regular coach service from there taking just over an hour (approx 9 Euros each way).

Alternatively you can fly to Oporto (2.5 hour drive) or Faro (3.5 hour drive).


Obidos is a beautiful and historic UNESCO World Heritage walled town approximately 15 minutes drive away. Foz do Arelho is located about 10 minutes drive away and overlooks the Obidos lagoon, its vast beach is never overcrowded and is excellent for families. Water sports such as kayaking, windsurfing, kite surfing and sailing boats are on offer in the summer. Nazare is a picturesque coastal resort about 20 minutes by car with vast sands packed with families in July and August.

Further Details:

There is a large supermarket in the town selling a wide range of local and international products including food and hardware just 1500m from the apartment.
