Fabulous Ski Chalets very close to the Ski-Station!

Newly built in 2008, Chalet Opal and Chalet Soldanelle are part of only a handful of individual luxurious chalets built within Le Jardin Alpin, Vaujany. We have the following accommodation for you to rent: We have Chalet Opal a spacious 5 bedroom ski chalet that sleeps up to 11 people. We also have Chalet Soldanelle another spacious 4/5 bedroom chalet.

Chalet Opal comprises of two double bedrooms, two twin rooms, one bunk bedroom and a futon bed. Two bedrooms have en-suite facilities and there are two further bathrooms with two separate wcs. It is great that there is a bathroom on every level great for larger families. There is a good open plan-living space with fully equipped kitchen recently painted cupboards that give the chalet a really homely feel. The open plan space leads out to a balcony with views of the mountains. There is seating for 8 people at the dining table. The chalet has wi-fi,a flat screen TV, DVD machine, dishwasher, electric oven and a fridge freezer. Additional features include underfloor heating on the main floor, radiators on other floors and a fantastic log fire. There is also a large private garage to keep ski equipment and the use of a washing machine and tumble dryer. All utility bills are included in the price, and logs for the fire are available. Linen and towels are also included as is an end of stay clean which is fantastic.

Chalet Soldanelle is great for families too with its large open-plan living space boasting uninterrupted views of the mountains and famous waterfall. The chalet comprises of 4 bedrooms with a mezzanine level which can sleep a 9th-10th person on the sofa-bed. On the ground floor there is a superbly equipped kitchen with induction hob, built in microwave and oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer and insinkerator. The dining area seats 8-10 as does the large sofa space which offers access onto the south-facing balcony, with fantastic views of the magnificent la Fare waterfall and down the valley. A wall mounted flat screen TV has English channels. There is also a DVD player and free wifi. There is a useful third bathroom on this level with W/C, Shower and sink. Chalet Soldanelle has 4 Bedrooms on the lower level and all bedrooms have plentiful wardrobe space. The master bedroom has a Superking-sized bed and an ensuite bathroom with W/C, Shower and Sink. The second bedroom has a Double bed. The third and fourth bedrooms are both twin rooms. The larger twin can accommodate an extra mattress to sleep 3 if needed. and has a flat screen TV in the wardrobe with a DVD player and Chromecast device (this allows renters to stream channels like Netflix from their tablet to the TV). There is a large family bathroom on this level with W/C, Bath, Separate Shower and Sink. A laundry room on this level has both a washing machine and separate tumble dryer. Stairs up from the dining area lead to an open mezzanine level, which can be used as a second living space to relax in or play games. It also has a double sofa bed providing an extra sleeping area if required.The stairs are steep so not suitable for the very young or old! The chalet has a spacious garage for skis and boot storage. It also provides a secure location for bike storage. There is a private parking space to the right of the chalet and also ample free covered parking in the main village. This chalet comes with fresh linen and towels provided and prices include all utility bills. We may accept small dogs for Chalet Soldanelle for a small fee.

We are a family run ski company called Vaujany Ski Co Ltd that operate solely in Vaujany. The lovely properties are just one of many properties that we market in Vaujany on behalf of UK owners. Although we are based in the UK we spend a lot of time in Vaujany and have a great knowledge of the resort and how to make the best of the area both in the Winter and the Summer. We can assist with travel transfers, ski hire, ski passes, bike hire, restaurants, food delivery and of course where to ski or ride and when! Good chalet for two families in lovely resort

The Chalet - well furnished, to a reasonably high spec. The beds are comfortable, with goose down pillows and duvets - not man made fibre, and good to sleep in. The kitchen is well stocked with lots of gadgets, (not that we used them, admittedly). The sofa/chairs area is large enough for two families to sprawl pretty comfortably. It's open plan so if the kids are listening to loud TV, you can hear it in most places. That said, using the TV in one of the twin rooms helped contain the noise fairly effectively. there also seemed to be lots of DVDs available too. The radiators in the bathrooms were easy to turn up and down - and handy for drying out wet gloves and jackets etc.

The underfloor heating was a little confusing - would be helpful to have some instructions on how to control it.

Wifi worked throughout the house

Garage - has automatic door - so it's easy to store ski gear and get it in and out .

The claim of 2 minutes walk to the ski station is a bit ambitious - certainly not with ski boots on. But its not far - no more than 5 mins to lift which takes you up to the cable car so leave minimum 10 minutes to get there (tip - take the upper road back at end of day - so you only have to walk downhill).

Vaujany is a lovely (still) small village - but growing slowly. The chalet is on the edge and the better restaurants are at the top of the village, but really not far in the big scheme of things. Stieff's steakhouse is great for burgers and Belgian beers. La Remise is lovely for regional food and pizzas, but slightly pricier

Ski school (ESF) is well run - if you don't speak French, ask for Wendy who can sort out all you need.

lastly if you ski into the Alpe d'Huez area, go down towards Villard Reculas and go to la Bergerie for lunch - the veau forrestiere is sublime. In the Oz/Vaujany region, la Grange and Chez Passouds are the best food; la P'oz is probably best for price.

Vaujany is the perfect Alpine Winter and Summer destination: it's a superbly authentic village with quaint old farm buildings nestled in with bars, restaurants and fantastic modern leisure facilities. The lift system is second to none and boasts the fastest elevation gain in the whole resort. That means whether you are ski-ing or mountain biking you can be at the top of the mountain within a few minutes of getting on the super fast 160 man gondola. Throw in the world class ski-ing both on pistes and off piste and its no wonder that Vaujany is becoming the go to place for those in the know. The village itself is linked from top to bottom by a series of lifts and escalators so getting around is easy and you won't need a car when you are here.

The closest airport is Grenoble, 1 hr 20 mins away. Other easy transfers are Chambery (2 hrs), Lyon (2hr 15) and Geneva (2hr 40). Driving to the property is straightforward and full directions will be provided upon booking.

The properties are located in the development called Le Jardin Alpin which is just 100 Metres from the ski station, ski school, shops, restaurants and leisure centre. Leave the chalets and two minutes walk later you will be on the lift system and heading up to 2800m to tackle one of the numerous ski runs the resort has to offer. The village itself has recently invested a huge amount of money into the leisure facilities including a superb leisure centre, swimming pool, olympic size ice-skating rink, bowling alley and all of this is just a few minutes walk away from the property.
